25.01.2022 It’s a false myth that babies slow down or run out of room towards the end of pregnancy. It is definitely NOT TRUE. Your baby should move consistently up until the day you birth. If you are ever worried about babies movements do not delay and contact your obstetrician. . . . .... #movement #stillaware #baby #pregnancy #babymovement #obstetrics #drdrewmoffrey #gcobgyn See more

23.01.2022 With the current surge in COVID19 cases, there are new QLD health guidelines for all health care facilities. In line with these guidelines, as of Saturday 29th August it is mandatory that all patients and staff at Pindara Private Hospital wear a mask at all times whilst in the hospital. Your partner or a pregnancy support person (only ONE) will still be allowed to be in attendance for all births and during your postnatal stay. Unfortunately no visitors or children will be a...llowed into the hospital. We are encouraging all families to start practicing Zoom conversations with family in preparation for the post birth period to maintain family connections. These guidelines have also extended to my private consulting rooms. All patients are asked to wear a mask to their appointments. Patients need to come to appointments alone. When you arrive, please present to reception where your temperature will be checked. You will be asked to hand sanitize and to put on a mask if you aren’t already doing so. If you have any symptoms of fevers, coughs or feeling generally unwell, please contact the office prior to your appointment and we will arrange a telehealth consultation. We understand the strain these new rules place on patients and families. Lets work together to keep our community safe. #birth #pregnancy #covid19 #community #hospital #pindaramaternity #mask #drdrewmoffrey #gcobgyn

21.01.2022 Great news for my patients living in the border bubble. They have eased restrictions for medical specialist appointments .

21.01.2022 I had the pleasure of presenting at Dr Kee Ong’s conference on the weekend. I was asked to present on several topics to a group of Gold Coast GPs. You never stop learning and teaching is the best way to consolidate your knowledge. Thanks for a great weekend Dr Ong.

20.01.2022 Alison and the team over at Chevon Island Physio have created a great program for mums returning to exercise. You can start this after your 6 week review and is a great way to get back to exercise in a safe and enjoyable way.

17.01.2022 Just a reminder of our changing world. All these directives are about protecting our community and the vulnerable people within it. Unfortunately, some of you will be disappointed with these new measures, however the government is enforcing these changes with a view to keeping everyone safe. As of today, with all appointments, all patients will be required to wears masks. We ask that you please supply your own masks. These do not need to be medical quality; a fabric ma...sk is sufficient. All patients are asked, where possible, to attend appointments by themselves. There are also no visitors allowed into the hospital. Please arrive promptly on time - neither early, nor late - so we can minimise people in the waiting room. We will do our upmost to keep appointments on time. If you arrive early please wait in your car, until coming into the office. You can always call reception and they can advise you when you can proceed to the waiting room. On arrival proceed to the reception where you will be required to hand sanitise and also have your temperature checked. And finally, please, if you have any symptoms then do not come to the office. Call ahead and we can direct you the nearest covid testing centre. Thank you for your understanding and your participation in keeping everyone safe. #covid_19 #mask #keepsafe #community #appointments #pindaramaternity #drdrewmoffrey #gcobgyn

17.01.2022 I feel privileged that 12 month's on I was asked to catch up with these gorgeous little people and their mum's. It isn't everyday that I get to meet the baby's I’ve helped bring into the world and see how much they have grown. They are now little people bursting with personalities and walking! It was very special to see you all again: Nash, Hudson, Ethan, Charlotte & Georgia. These mum's are super special too, they are all theatre staff at Pindara Private Hospital. 17.01.2022 Repost from Pindara Private Maternity. Today we meet Dr Drew Moffrey How long have you been practicing at Pindara Private Hospital?... I started practicing at Pindara in February 2013, but you could say I've been here a lot longer, as I was actually born at Pindara. Why did you choose your speciality? If you ever see a baby be born you'll understand why. I actually wanted to be an orthopaedic surgeon throughout medical school but then I witnessed my first baby being born and was hooked. From that day on I just knew that obstetrics was where I needed to be. Helping women become mothers and couples become families is such an honour. It is one of the few specialties that has both medical and surgical aspects to it and so from the professional point of view, it is also a challenging career. The majority of times, it is such a joyful happy environment to be part of but even in the tough times being able to show compassion and understanding to my patients, making what may be their worst moment a little easier makes my job unbelievably special. What is your favourite thing about being an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist? Seeing a mother's and partner’s face when they first see their child is amazing. I love looking back on photos and seeing that first look on their faces, it is simply magic. It is in that instant you know you have been part of something special. Just as empowering and special is being a part of a long difficult journey with a patient, through multiple trials and setbacks, and being able to support and guide them until they finally get to the outcome they desire. What are you passionate about? I am passionate about giving women a choice and supporting them. I believe as a doctor I am here to educate my patients and improve their knowledge and understanding, including what their options are and supporting them through. I take the view that a holistic approach is most important and to ensure people feel listened to and understood. Any particular memorable/defining moments? One really memorable moment is a family that I have now delivered baby number 3! I often see the three boys and it gives me such a thrill. I have also helped three sisters to birth their children. What an honour it is to be part of this family’s life in such a special. An interesting fact about yourself? I have a daughter Scarlett and a very energetic dog called bear who loves the surf and the sand. I am always out and about on the Gold Coast running or riding everywhere. I love to run and compete in triathlons. I have been inducted into the Australia surf life saving hall of fame having won numerous Australian national titles in lifesaving. Thank you for sharing Dr Drew Moffrey.

17.01.2022 Today is R U OK day. We have been great in taking up this initiative in checking in on people. But remember that is just the beginning. There is more to say. Once someone reaches out let’s ensure that person has support and follow up. Reaching out and asking for help is the hardest part for most people, let’s make sure we recognize that and follow through with our care plans to help. #ruok #depression #anxiety #followthrough #reachout #drdrewmoffrey #gcobgyn

15.01.2022 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ( for yesterday) to the most amazing midwife. Michelle we are so grateful for all the mums and families you have helped. 14.01.2022 The saying is true ... things do come in 3's This week I have had 3 Vaginal Births After Caesarean aka a VBAC! A VBAC is something many mums do not know much about or know that a VBAC may be an option for them.... Many also hear that Pindara Private Hospital does not support VBAC births. This statement is far from true. I am here to support women’s choices and help facilitate and support the birth they desire. A VBAC pregnancy does carry some risks but with the right care and support, most women are able to achieve a VBAC if that is what they desire. If you have any questions about VBAC please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information.

09.01.2022 BABY’S MOVEMENTS - What’s normal? It’s what is normal for you. The most important thing for you to monitor is baby’s movements and by about 22 or 23 weeks you should know your baby’s pattern. If that pattern changes and you’re concerned about baby’s movements contact your obstetrician immediately. Do not wait to see if baby moves more the next day or day after. There is no such thing as too much movements. A moving baby is a happy baby. #baby #pregnancy #babymoving #movement #stillbirth #sands #drdrewmoffrey #gcobgyn

The standard you walk past is the standard you accept so if you see bias or discrimination then stand up and choose to challenge.

06.01.2022 Dr Drew is at your cervix. Is your cervical screening test (CST) up to date? This test replaced pap smears in testing for cervical cancer in November 2017. In Australia only 54% of women have an up to date CST. The CST is performed every 5 years but it is still as important as ever to ensure your screening is up to date. 05.01.2022 "Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.... "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do." "That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." A.A. Milne Sending thoughts to those having a Difficult Day today and hope you have your own Piglet to sit beside you
