23.01.2022 GUNBALANYA: Recently the ladies activity was moved to a new premises, thanks to the support of DEMED for the space & RISE with the help in the move. Here they continue to sew making bags a plenty, cooking in an "actual kitchen" & more recently learning the art of making soaps with support from "One Disease" - whose primary focus is to rid Crusted Scabies amongst all Indigenous Communities Australia wide. This was a huge success & has created great interest. Cushion covers out of Injalak fabric are currently on the drawing board amongst other items in the not too distant future! Watch this space....:) Rise Ventures indigenous.gov.au One Disease West Arnhem Regional Council

12.01.2022 GUNBALANYA: The ladies in Gunbalanya are receiving some great feedback on the soaps they have been making. Today, natural all purpose cleaners were made & given to the ladies to take home to use. Another addition to the program more recently is creating an edible garden to include fruits, vege's & herbs that will be used in time with the daily food cook-ups. This all tied in nicely with the visiting Nutritionist. To expand on this concept, we are currently repairing the nursery at DEMED so participants can assist with planting seedlings to help establish their own gardens & bush tucker in & around the community. From little things, big things grow! Keep up the great work ladies. Rise Ventures indigenous.gov.au West Arnhem Regional Council One Disease Gunbalanya Sports and Social Club Gunbalanya

02.01.2022 GUNBALANYA: The ladies in Gunbalanya are really enjoying our new space since moving in. Cooking occurs on a daily basis, the "edible" garden is growing & being well watered & cared for, sewing is continuing with our first order of 15 skirts soon to be delivered to the local store to sell, as well as candles being made which will be sold at the store also. The soaps the ladies make are getting rave reviews, including those that have itches/scabies showing promising results rapidly from its use, placing continual orders because of the healing success. Most exciting! The ladies have also helped rearrange & organise the sewing studio taking ownership.
