20.01.2022 A few things to consider when setting up for Sumo Deadlift: 1. Stance Width - Shins in line with the bar is a good starting point, and adjust according to comfort/level, aim to stack joints (ankles in line with knee from front view). 2. Angle of Toes - Toes pointing in the same direct as your knees is generally a good position.... 3. Grip Width - Given that the hips are open from the wide stance, the optimal grip position is straight down (in line with the shoulders). 4. Hip Depth - as much as we do want some leg drive to begin our pull, having our hips too low can comprimise the whole lift, a good indication that you are too low is if your knees are coming over the bar. From here we keep our head up, shoulders down, breathe and brace, push the world away. #sumodeadlift #technique #tips

I struggle to train myself sometimes... My friends, coaches and anyone who knows me can attest to that. But I still get under the bar and get it done! I'm not coming in here to workout for the hell of it. I have a goal, a purpose, and I'm not willing to let myself down because I can't be bothered .... 12.01.2022 BENCH PRESS SET-UP _ 1. Sit at the edge of the bench so you don't hit your head on the bar _ 2. Slide back until your head is off the bench, put your hands at your comfortable grip width (the larger the arch, the wider the grip) and bring your feet in as close as you can while still on the balls of your feet... _ 3. Slide down, pulling your shoulder blades back and down towards the back pockets, make sure your eyes are lined up behind the bar _ 4. Drive your heels down into the floor, breathe and brace and unrack the bar _ 5. Tearing the bar apart, lowering it to your chest and explode back up! #drewcarrollpt See more

08.01.2022 Okay, I've gone through Sumo already, so here are my tips for Conventional Deadlifts; - Foot stance. You want to have your feet in line with your hip joint, or in a close position where you can perform your most "powerful vertical jump". - Next, your hands should be just outside of your knees, pushing your knees slightly out into your LOCKED elbows. ... - A deadlift is a perfect mix between a Push and a Pull movement, so you want your hips to be in a position where you can maximise leg drive without "squatting" the weight up. Not too high, not too low, just right! - Lastly, you want to engage your lats, if you imagine you're trying to pull your armpits down towards your pelvis, that is essentially what we are looking for. From here, we breathe and brace, push the world away, then bring the bar back down under control until it is dead weight on the floor again. Remember, Knees Out, Bum Down, Shoulders Down, Push the world away!"
