16.01.2022 Thank you to one of our followers for asking the question: With all the extra hand washing and use of sanitizers, will this cause damage to certain stones and types of metal in my rings and bracelets? Exposure to the alcohol in hand sanitizers could certainly cause damage over time to opals, pearls, amber and natural emeralds. It may also cause pitting and discolouration in gold and silver if used often and left to dry on the metal. It shouldn't cause too much damage to ...diamonds and hard gemstones, but as they are set in gold or silver, it's still not a good idea to expose them too often. Hand washing with a mild handwash or soap shouldn't be as damaging, but over time could loosen any glue that's been used to set in stones in certain styles of jewellery. Once again, pearls and opals should never be exposed to water as a general rule. Also, take care to dry off your hands thoroughly after each wash to avoid developing dermatitis from moisture being trapped underneath your rings.

05.01.2022 This special commission was to remake for our client, her Mum's precious engagement ring... we had repaired the original several times over the years, but a mutual agreement was reached that the little darling had come to the end of it's lifespan .... so here it is, reborn in exactly the same style having the same diamonds and the old gold strengthened with the addition of new. The smile on our client's face was just lovely!!

02.01.2022 Was chatting to some clients at my office yesterday about maintaining the look of their jewellery between professional cleans, and mentioned The Recipe to them ... those of you who have been followers of our page for a while would know what I mean by this Here it is for everyone: 1 cup lukewarm water 1 teaspoon dishwashing liquid ... 1 teaspoon cloudy ammonia* (*available in the cleaning products section at any supermarket) Soak your item for 30 minutes, then rinse in fresh lukewarm water Great for rings set with diamonds, sapphires, cubic zirconia and any stone of a Moh's scale rating of 7 or higher (if you're unsure, please Google your particular stone's rating) NOT recommended for Opal, Natural Emerald or Pearl set jewellery. The Recipe costs very little to make and is much safer and less toxic than commercially available jewellery soaks. When you are done cleaning your jewellery, use it for cleaning your kitchen bench .. it's brilliant! Cheers Paula
