13.01.2022 NOVEMBER 8th SOUKOUKAI REPORT An entire year since we’ve run the Bihoku layout for Soukoukai! A personal favourite of ours and for many drivers who have driven ...it before. Seeing as this was the last one for 2020, we thought it’d be perfect bringing the replica course from Okayama back for exciting entries! The atmosphere like all Soukoukai events was absolutely unreal! 60 entrants ensured that the buzzing pits were full of smiles, laughter and drift cars, with the help of guest DJ ‘D1 Project’ on the decks to energise us in between drifting sessions. What makes Bihoku so fun to drive? To start it has the fastest possible entry that you can do at Wanneroo Raceway’s infield with a big run up from one end of the tarmac to the other. A chance to really showcase the driver’s skill by using multiple techniques to initiate, decelerate and pull away from the edge and shoot back in towards the rest of the course. The entry is the true highlight of Bihoku. To do it well, you have to tick a few things off. Maximum speed is needed, so you have to ensure that a wide line is taken with minimal sliding on the last corner for the biggest run up. As you drive past the line of walls, a quick feint to the left sets up for the big initiation. The key here is to time your entry so that you have enough momentum to carry wide, but with enough angle for you to push back in easily with full throttle. Executing this correctly creates a super intense and exciting looking drift. From here, it’s all about being quick and hitting the inner clips as you finish the course, continuing to bake your tyres through the double hairpin section if you so desired. The tournament this time around was Twin Drift! In the past we’ve done solo battles, tandem battles, team drift and time trials. The format for twin drift is similar to team drift, but with 2 people. The goal is to pair up with your best pal, and complete the best synchronised looking run you can, facing off against other pairs and advancing through the eliminations. Most of the drivers at Soukoukai came out and gave it a crack, and it really was awesome to see all the cars lined up on track ready to give it their best shot. As the field was narrowed down through qualifying and elimination, the results were decided by the sheer experience of drivers who have had a long history of drifting and practicing together. All in all, the tournament is extremely light hearted, and focused on fun, much like the rest of the day. Congratulations! 1st place Allister Lyons & Jay Thomas (Team Magic) 2nd place Chris Goode & Josh Watkins (Team No Super Star) 3rd place Ken Leong & Regan Curtis (Team Magic) Luckily, the end of the day super drift train this time saw no major incidents, and all drivers moved quickly for the event's conclusion with presentations and prize giveaways! We feel like our prize pools just get bigger and bigger each event, and there was definitely no shortage of cool things to giveaway. A plethora of Japanese snacks & drink, free entry to the next Soukoukai, merch from Drift Bunny Decals & Spirit Wings, flags, cable ties and so much more. Everyone walks away a winner! It’s also Soukoukai tradition that we play our group game of ‘scissors paper rock’. Where all drivers have a chance to win some of our bigger prizes. As usual, a lot of swear words were used as each punter threw the wrong choice, whilst the big winners throw their hands up in glory claiming the following grand prizes! There’s nothing we enjoy more than seeing everyone happy and drifting together having a good time. Look forward to doing it all again with you in 2021! LET’S GO! 11.01.2022 AUGUST 29TH SOUKOUKAI REPORT Photos by Laubster Media (video soon) For the first time ever in Wanneroo Raceway history, the lesser known Jacks Hill circuit hid...den just over the hill of the V8 Supercar race course was run in the dark! Typically, our Nishi-D Soukoukai events are held on the infield, replicating famous Japanese tracks. This time, we wanted to try something completely different and create an environment which is what essentially created drifting in the beginning, replicating the most well known track of all time, the touge. What exactly is touge? Touge is the japanese word used for mountain pass. A somewhat common sight as you drive towards the out skirts of Japans technological cities in your car and tackling tight twisty corners of the hill all through the night and into the early morning. Of course, this is considered illegal street racing in Japan, so theres much less of it happening now than in the 80s or early 90s, let alone any of it happening in Australia. We felt it was important for entrants to understand where drifting came from, and what better way to do that than make an environment which is similar to original touge and is 100% legal! Japanese mountains typically have no roads which loop back on itself where you can continue to drive in laps. The standard practice is to have a start and end point of a specific choice of corners, and turn around at each end once all cars have finished the course. We felt it was fitting to do the same at Jacks Hill, with the added benefit of creating a fun higher speed entry, which is not possible if ran in the standard format. As per usual, during Soukoukai we hold a fun, light hearted tournament. This time, the competition was a time trial! Who was the fastest on this touge? Each driver had 2 runs to produce their best time possible either by drifting or grip. Part of the reason drifting was even invented is due to the technique being faster through certain corners, so it was up to competitors on the night to decide which worked best. With that said, wed like to congratulate our 3 winners of night touge Soukoukai, with Mitch showing his experience in understanding how and when to use drift or grip to his advantage in producing the fastest time of the night. Well done! Mitch Larner - 28.44 Harley Sheppard - 29.81 Chris Goode - 29.89 In our usual Soukoukai fashion, every entrant to the event received a prize. An enormous amount of japanese drinks & confectionary, sticker packs, flags, shirts, key chains and vouchers from Drift Bunny Decals, stickers and flags from Spirit Wings, Tsurikawa from JPN Parts, Nishi-D free voucher, engine oil from Secret Monkey Garage and so much more was given to out to drivers. The large group game of scissors paper rock is highly contested, with big prizes up for grabs. Here are our grand prize winners. Congratulations! D-Speed DS02 Wheels - Luke Donley GoPro Hero 7 - Isaac Twyford 40" HD Smart TV - Mitch Larner Wed like to thank all our very special partners & sponsors Drift School WA / WTFauto / D-speed / RedEarth Creations / Kojo Corporation / spiritwings_au / Secret Monkey Garage / JPN Parts / Pretty Brave Fitness / Higher Service Transport / SS Drift Would also like to give a really big thanks to May at Drift Bunny Decals for always supporting us and providing a massive amount of prizes as well as the exclusive Soukoukai sticker. Please visit Drift Bunny Decals and support a local business creating awesome products! Last but not least, thank you to each and every one of you drivers for entering and enjoying drift together with us. We appreciate your patience through the night as we ran an event like this for the first time and look forward to seeing you again. The next Soukoukai event is on November 8th on the infield. LETS GO!

10.01.2022 One of the biggest misconceptions with drifting for a lot of the general public is that you need lots of rear wheel HORSEPOWER. This couldn't be further away from the truth! We aren't saying it's not fun to have a lot of power. We also aren't saying that a 200 horsepower car is going to be able to compete against cars with 800 horsepower in a competition with drivers of similar skill levels. ...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Heres a brief insight on the course for Night Touge Soukoukai! When drifting in the mountains, the roads dont allow you to loop around in laps, your only op...tion is either up the hill, or down the hill, with specific start and stop points. This is why weve chosen to run Jacks Hill this way, with an added higher speed entry and barriers as pretend guard rails to replicate as best as possible the feeling of genuine touge in Japan. Its going to be fun! LETS GO!

01.01.2022 JUNE 28TH SOUKOUKAI REPORT What an amazing way for drivers to come out of COVID-19 restrictions by being able to drift again at an event! A massive number of 55... entrants came for our 2nd and last run of the Minami course. It was really obvious that drivers already had the feel for the track from the previous Soukoukai, with very little hiccups in comparison and an overall much smoother running event even with so many drivers. Most would agree that looking at the weather forecast on the 28th would deter drivers from drifting. Despite the crazy rain and wind, we had an absolute ball driving together, practicing non stop drifting consistently in the wet, bumping doors, tapping barriers and pushing harder and harder whilst saving tyres! Its so good to be able to have repetition in your training with plenty of track time and consistent track conditions. Nothing worse than half wet half dry and trying to just survive rather than hone your skills. As per normal, we hold a fun team drift tournament during the day at Soukoukai. Part of the reason why we do this is to encourage drivers to understand a different aspect of tandem and to just have fun. Traditionally tandems are a battle, but with team drift, you need to work together, cooperate and drive as a synchronised unit to produce an exciting run for themselves and for anyone watching. It was great to see more entrants for team drift this time round, some who are already an actual team, some who are just friends, and some who only met on the day and wanted to give it all a go. We feel that enjoying the community youre in is just as important as the activity itself, so well done to all the teams who got out there and put on a show, great driving! Defending champions Team Magic (Regan, Allister & Scott) were back and looking strong as usual. Strawberry Oreo (Suhaiman & Jack, minus Chad this time) not scared to trade paint despite Suhaiman having one of the cleanest S13s there. No Superstars (Josh & Chris) had also made a return and were looking solid with their guest driver Goran. It was a true pleasure to watch organised teams go head to head and actually make it difficult for us to judge, as so many of them came in with their run completely glued together, but at the end of the day, it was local super stars No Superstar who took out 1st place. Followed by Magic and Tip2Tip (Jordan, Shannon, Alex, Abhilove & Viplove) who were super exciting to watch, because honestly, they just didnt give a shit and went out there to have fun. To end the day, in Soukoukai tradition, every driver receives a gift, and we play the highly contested (and sometimes frustrating) group game of Scissors-Paper-Rock where all drivers have a chance to win the big prizes. The 3 grand prizes were won by the following. D-Speed DS02 wheels - Nick Seneque GoPro Hero 7 - William Shannon 50" UHD Smart TV - Julian Scalzi Congratulations to all our winners! Wed also like to thank all our sponsors for their contribution to the Soukoukai event Drift School WA / WTFauto / D-speed / RedEarth Creations / SS Drift / Secret Monkey Garage / DIY Garage WA / spiritwings_au / Kojo Corporation / JPN Parts / Higher Service Transport / DJ Laubscher. and especially Drift Bunny Decals for providing an insane amount of their range as prizes. As always, thank you for coming to Soukoukai, we had an awesome time with all of you! The next event is on August 29th. This is a small surprise/different and youll learn more about it soon! Booking is already available on the site. LETS GO!
