15.01.2022 PSA- Leptospirosis out break in Sydney. . Please be aware that there has been a recent out break of Leptospirosis in the inner west of Sydney, which has not been found in NSW before. The disease is spread through the urine of infected rats and is contagious amongst dogs. Dogs can pickup Leptospirosis via food, bedding, or water that has become contaminated, such as puddles on the street. . Symptoms include lack of appetite, vomitting, lethargy and diarrhoea and typically ap...pear after 7 days of contracting the bacteria. . It is recommended that you keep your dog away from stagnant water and puddles. Please seek urgent veterinary treatment if you notice your dog suffering from these symptoms as the disease can be fatal. . We recommend speaking to your vet regarding vaccination against the disease as there is a vaccination available. #Leptospirosis #sydneydogs #vaccination
