25.01.2022 Time for improved progress.

21.01.2022 "I just delivered my son at 37 weeks and he ended up having to be rushed straight to the NICU. He wasn’t able to feed for the first 24 hours and by the time he could, it wasn’t perfect. However, this program gave me the confidence, knowledge and patience to work with him to get it right. Out of pure curiosity, I did end up meeting with the hospital lactation consultant who, to my horror, IMMEDIATELY informed me my son had a tongue tie that needed to be fixed, said I would HAV...E to use a shield with him and then tried to have me grab the back of his head and shove him on me. No! I politely thanked her and asked her to give me some time. She came back today in disbelief that he has fed repeatedly with no shield, no tongue tie issues and is getting fully satisfied each time. Rest and digest for the win! Thank you Thompson Method!" ~ Caroline J

20.01.2022 Women are telling traumatic stories almost every day - birth, baby and breastfeeding traumas.

20.01.2022 Continuous fetal monitoring.

19.01.2022 Once again the expert midwife researcher provides valuable information.

19.01.2022 When you first have children they talk about the challenges of parenting....the struggles of a baby waking in the night, the toddler who won’t stay in their be...d, the cost of childcare, injuries from sports... Having to take off work to pick them up from school when they don’t feel well, helping them with homework, a messy house, the never ending laundry, the cost to buy school clothes, packing their lunches.... You watch their eyes light up on Christmas morning....and try to soak in the magic of those moments. You coach them in sports, rushing to practices and ballgames...and tote them all over the country to let them play the game they love...no matter how exhausting or expensive it becomes. Life is just so busy that you rarely even stop to think what the end of those days look like. In fact, it’s not really even something you can wrap your mind around. You go into it thinking that 18-20 years sounds like a long time.... Then suddenly hours turn into days...days into months...and months into years. That little person that used to crawl up next to you in bed and cuddle up to watch cartoons...suddenly becomes this young adult who hugs you in the hallway as they come and go. And the chaos and laughter that used to echo throughout your home....gets filled with silence and solitude. You’ve learned how to parent a child who needs you to care for and protect them....but have no clue how the whole letting go thing is supposed to work. So you hold on as tight as you can...wondering how time passed so quickly...feeling guilty that you missed something.... Because even though you had 20 years.....it just somehow doesn’t seem like it was enough. You ask yourself so many questions... Did you teach them the right lessons? Did you read them enough books as a child? Spend enough time playing with them? How many school parties did you have to miss? Do they really know how much you love them? What could I have done better as a parent? .....When it’s time for them to go, it all hits you like a ton of bricks. And all you can do is pray....hope....and trust that God will protect them as they start to make their way into the world alone. Parenting is by far the most amazing experience of your life....that at times leaves you exhilarated....while others leave you heartbroken. But one thing is certain.....it’s never enough time... So for all the parents with young children...who’s days are spent trying to figure out how to make it through the madness... Exhausted day in and day out... Soak. It. All. In. Because one day....all those crazy days full of cartoons, snuggles, sleep overs, Christmas morning magic, ballgames, practices and late night dinners... All come to an end. And you’re left hoping that you did enough right, so that when they spread their wings.... They’ll fly... credit ; Misty Brewer Lee

19.01.2022 Another post from me! I am just so thankful for this method and program! Going through my photos and found some BF photos from 2 days old in the hospital. I love these photos, they show me how far we’ve come. I knew nothing at the time, and felt so unprepared and overwhelmed. The hospital was having us syringe/trickle feed donor milk since my milk hadn’t came in yet; and we were using a nipple shield. I was taught to forcefully shove Gio onto my breast to get a deeper latch a...nd it just wasn’t working. I am so glad I found The Thompson Method. I never thought I would be so passionate about breastfeeding. I have learned so much in these short 10 weeks. I hope that every mama that wants to breastfeed can get the knowledge and support that I have. We wouldn’t be where we are today if it weren’t for The Thompson Method and all of the support I’ve gotten from it. Edit to add: If you are debating buying the program, I am here to say do it! ~ Anna D.

18.01.2022 Hallelujah, thank you Grace Sweeny for sharing and speaking out. We know over centuries how important and nurturing Giving Birth in the familiar environment of home can be. Speaking from a quarter of a Century of birthing at home with Women with the amazing support of my Midwife buddies, Annie, Clare and me buddying others. So much miss these wonderful years, with and beside amazing women who taught me so much more about being "Proud to be a Midwife" (my words).

18.01.2022 There is a place for bottle feeding, but many women unnecessarily introduce a bottle and teat without understanding how it may affect breastfeeding. Experienced midwife and breastfeeding consultant, Dr Robyn Thompson encourages pregnant and breastfeeding women to be well informed about the implications bottle feeding may have on their breastfeeding journey. Based on her 45+ years of experience and her PhD research, Dr Robyn suggests that unnecessarily introducing a bottle and... teat to a breastfed baby increases the risk of oral confusion and breast refusal. However, by observing some gentle principles, it is possible to combine breastfeeding with bottle feeding, therefore reducing the risk of common complications. Please be reassured that we support the right of every woman to choose how she feeds her baby. Our aim is to share this information so that more women have the knowledge to make informed decisions for herself and her baby. 17.01.2022 What is the rest and digest period? . The REST AND DIGEST period is a key principle of The Thompson Method for Breastfeeding and is highly effective in the slowing and calming of the baby's digestive system and in reducing the risk of reflux and colic . Laying your baby comfortably on your knee, allows time for the milk from the first breast to be pre-digested and transferred from the stomach to the intestine, before completing the feed on the second breast ... . While resting, you'll observe your baby stretching out to aid in the digestive process before demonstrating cues of readiness to complete the feed on the second breast . This is also a good time for a nappy change to prevent disturbing the satisfied baby from drifting into peaceful sleep . Why not try this simple yet effective technique the next time you breastfeed your baby? . Want to learn the The Thompson Method for yourself? . Check out our FREE video and observe a GENTLE approach to breastfeeding . 17.01.2022 "EFM began as a noble attempt to conquer a centuries old plague - cerebral palsy - but has been turned into a nightmare for birth caregivers and increased the c...hances that women and babies may experience harm from what should be a happy experience. While trial lawyers certainly deserve the blame for starting, perpetuating, and profiting from the EFM-CP hoax, physicians share equally in the blame for these half century old hoaxes that have become a shameful stain on an honourable profession. Physicians’ vincible ignorance in this continuing hoax is apparent for all to see. But to paraphrase Jeremiah, there are none so blind as those who will not see." This is a quote from the conclusion of an article just published in The Indian Journal of Medical Ethics. In "Cerebral palsy litigation after fifty years: A hoax on you," Sartwelle et al (2020) detail the story of what the describe as the "hoax" of electronic fetal monitoring. From the early myths to how some of those linked with one of the first companies manufacturing, promoting, and selling EFM machines were also the creators, testers, researchers and authors of the studies which cemented EFM in obstetric practice, this freely available article deserves to be widely read and shared by anyone who is involved in birth and/or needing to make decisions about whether EFM is something they want as part of their care. The full article can be found at https://ijme.in//cerebral-palsy-litigation-after-fifty-ye/ If you'd like to know more, lots more studies on EFM and related topics are shared and discussed at www.sarawickham.com #midwife #midwifery #doula #birthdoula #pregnant #birth #childbirth #duein2020 #drsarawickham #positivebirth #childbirtheducation #childbirtheducator #whatsrightforme #efm #ctg See more

17.01.2022 Breastfeeding comes with its fair share of triumphs and challenges. But there are two words that strike fear in the hearts of many breastfeeding women.... BLOCKED DUCTS. Any woman who has been through the stress and pain of mastitis would agree that it's often associated with a BLOCKED DUCT. In this video, Dr Robyn Thompson, experienced midwife and breastfeeding consultant shares some helpful tips for breastfeeding mothers who would like to avoid mastitis. She encourages w...omen to be gentle with their breasts at all times and to resist the temptation of deep or forceful massage, as this often leads to bruising, pain and damage of the delicate glandular tissue. If you're pregnant and have your heart set on breastfeeding or you're already breastfeeding, Dr Robyn shares some tips for relieving a blocked duct. If at any stage you feel hot, feverish or feel that the inflammation is increasing, it is wise to seek a professional opinion. 13.01.2022 "Thank you the Thompson Method for guiding Billie and I to successfully exclusive breastfeeding (with the addition of big people food all the way to 11 months, 2 weeks, 3 days and roughly 4.5 hours of Billie and I totally rocking this boobie gig! Through low supply, excess birth weight lost, premature c section birth, opioid effected baby, necessary medications, shallow latching, teething, and everything in between! And you know what? Even through all that I knew I was supp...orted, I knew my baby was ok, and I knew I was doing all the right things. Joining the Thompson Method village around half way through my fourth and final pregnancy was the best antenatal decision I made. This picture was taken of us over the weekend, both of us entirely oblivious to it and completely enthralled in our time boobing on the beach while my 3 beautiful boys paddled in the ocean near by this is what it’s all about we both have no end in sight for this amazing nurturing & nourishing journey we are on together and we couldn’t be happier (or healthier) mumma’s currently having difficulties; I promise you’re in the right place and you will get through. If I did, you totally can too xox" ~ Lydia

08.01.2022 This question has been raised for decades. Research informs that unnecessary intervention is reduced with birth at home compared to questionable intervention increasing in institutions. It is important to recognise that there will always be a percentage of women and babies who require medical assistance with hospital for their place of birth. Those women choosing home need appropriate, unquestionable, respectful and welcoming back up hospital arrangements. The evidence is clear that a chosen Midwife for a woman’s entire journey or journeys is associated with good outcomes. There will always be a need for complimentary Midwife-Medical assistance when required. We are informed of a significant change to Homebirth over the pandemic, statistics not available yet, still in process.

08.01.2022 The Thompson Method has made a significant impact on the lives of many women and their babies all over the world. Through her online education, Dr Robyn’s knowledge and experience has been far reaching and continues to inspire and support women in their birth and breastfeeding journeys. Every one of them has a story worth sharing.

04.01.2022 "We made it to 6 months of breastfeeding In the beginning it was so so hard. I was in excruciating pain after 24 hours and after a few weeks, I would dread feeding my precious boy I didn’t want to give up breastfeeding because I knew how good it was for both of us.... At 4 weeks we were told Jacob has a tongue tie and were advised to have it corrected but it just didn’t seem right. It seemed strange that for thousands of years women have fed their babies but now suddenly most have ties We had a LC come to our home to assess a feed and we were told that everything looked good and that I needed to push through it and let my nipples toughen up They did NOT. They cracked. They bled. And I cried. I tried loads of difficult positions and was told I needed to be more forceful I waited until my son was 7 weeks old and I couldn’t physically or mentally take any more. That’s when I finally purchased the program. I was so sceptical. I felt like I’d tried everything already so wasn’t even sure I could be helped. Ladies, I’m not exaggerating when I say within 24 hours I noticed a huge difference. And one week later I was PAIN FREE!! And I’ve received the most incredible support ever since. Now we have teething and weaning and I’m not even worried. I am 100% confident in our journey Thanks to the education and research of Dr Robyn and to the amazing team for helping me achieve this" ~ Chelsea K. A big thank you for sharing your story Chelsea
