When she wasnt saving countless British soldiers lives during the Crimean war (1854) and organising modern nursing training, she loved pulling out the old board and having a paddle with mates. 24.01.2022 Three weeks post @drsamcunneen breast augmentation! @drsamcunneen usually performs a dual plane breast implant which means the top part of the implant is covered by the pectoral muscle, holding onto the implant and the lower part of the implant is just under the breast gland. This gives a more natural appearance and more longevity to the implants as they wont cause the breast to sag. The downside is its surgically harder, and also there is initially more swelling. We help control this with ice packs and gentle stretching exercises. Usually there is still some swelling three weeks post op..... this beautiful patient is lucky to have recovered so quickly!!!! 20.01.2022 Sometimes subtle curves are the way to go! Do you know what profile means? It’s how high a breast implant sits off the chest, not to be confused with width, which is how wide an implant is across the chest. Different companies use different terms for the amount of projection the implant has, like low, medium, high, ultra high or moderate, moderate plus, high and ultra high. I prefer my own classification which is 1) subtle, 2) is she, isn’t she, 3) fake, 4) hello sailor. 20.01.2022 Breast lifts A.K.A. mastopexy is a terrific operation, returning the breast back to its normal position, and not needing any implants to achieve a youthful full appearance. The most obvious scar is the vertical one below the areola, which is the main downside to the removal of so much skin. This @drsamcunneen patient is 3 months post op. The scars are still pink but they generally become pale by a year making them pretty hard to see! As an aside, these are the same scars which are generally formed after a breast reduction. #mastopexy #breastlift #breastreduction

17.01.2022 Honored that @scottmorrisonmp obviously follows my posts and decided to make it official to cancel all non urgent surgery to protect patients and staff and preserve protective equipment.... And even if he doesnt its a sensible idea. We are gradually getting through contacting our patients who have been waiting for surgery to explain the situation. Obviously if you decide not to proceed with your surgery, especially in these difficult economic times @drsamcunneen is happy to refund any money you put down for your surgery.

15.01.2022 18 months post #breastlift by @drsamcunneen (and a tummy tuck #abdominoplasty ) Theres something incredibly satisfying in taking a lady who thought she needed breast implants and explaining that she has enough native breast tissue to avoid any foreign material. Its just that her breast tissue was contained over really stretched redundant skin. There are NO implants that need changing in 10-15 years and NO implants too worry about infection. YES there are big scars, but with time they generally do pretty well. Thank you to this lovely patient for letting me use her before and afters. 15.01.2022 Being involved in kids sports has given me a fabulous opportunity to let of steam at the weekend yelling at kids who arent really sure they want to be there. 14.01.2022 Tuberous breast deformity is a developmental deformity with a combination of breast asymmetry, puffy enlarged areola, a constricted breast base which makes the breast look very droopy and a really wide cleavage. Correction is difficult and can involve a number of operations using a combination of breast lift, breast implants, and fat grafting. With time and patience good results are possible! 12.01.2022 What happens if you cut into a recently removed saline implant? Salt water goes all over the nurse’s trolley and my shoes. This is why nurses don’t like me going any where near their stuff. Breast implants can contain silicone or saline. Saline implants tend to feel less natural and ripple way more, like a waterbed. Silicone implants have much more structure and a softer feel. #onehandedcutting #shoeshower #messybugger

04.01.2022 More than 15 year old breast implants, which no longer really fit the chest and breast tissue which is dropping off the implants (waterfall deformity) Corrected by removing the implants and performing a breast lift/mastopexy. While the breast mound is clearly smaller the shape fits the chest a lot better. If the problem is breast shape I try to avoid implants and suggest a lift instead. I find implants positioned under large breasts create an unstable situation and think a beautiful shape is the key, not bra size! 03.01.2022 This lovely post @drsamcunneen patient is 1 year post #breastaugmentation #fatgrafting and a symmetrising Peri-areolar mastopexy. When theres a small difference in the position of the nipples the height can be summarise summarise symmetrised with a small incision around the areolar that needs to lifted. You might be able to see a fine line around the right areolar. The surgical difficulty is stopping it from ending up really stretched. Ultimately no two breasts match exactly, but sometimes surgery can help improve the differences. 375cc round high profile implants have been used. #mastopexy #periareolar #sistersnottwins

02.01.2022 Its a hot one in Perth, so sometimes my patients need a quick break from their surgical bra post @drsamcunneen #breastagmentation Only two weeks post op and going well. Thank you for the cheeky bikini photo!! Generally @drsamcunneen suggests wearing a surgical bra for 6 weeks following surgery to help with post op swelling. The bra can also assist with making sure the implants stay where they are meant to be in the initial healing phase while the body makes its own thin scar like capsule around them, which will ensures the stay put for years to come.
