23.01.2022 For thousands of years, cultures across the world have been enjoying the health benefits of honey and using this sweet, sticky substance for a wide range of medicinal purposes. The ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians all documented the healing properties of honey and to this day it remains a firm favourite for many . It’s no secret that one of the first things we should all do when trying to get healthier and lose weight is cut down on sugar. As honey is a sweet, tasty food ...it can be used as a substitute for refined sugar a food which is purely empty calories . Honey contains natural sugars, water, vitamins, pollens, protein and a whole host of minerals, so it comes as no surprise that its an effective energy booster. When you eat honey, you give yourself a big dose of liver glycogen which is absorbed by muscles and converted into energy. This makes honey an ideal addition to your breakfast and a perfect pre or post workout snack . Another health benefit of honey is just how packed with antioxidants it is. Flavonoids are antioxidants which are believed to have the potential to prevent some forms of cancer and heart disease. This suggests that a diet rich in honey might just work as an effective boost for the immune system . The antioxidants and antibacterial properties of the food can help your immune system in general; helping you to stay healthy and fight off illnesses more easily . Honey also works as a cough suppressant by coating the throat, calming sore inflammation and soothing nerve endings in the process. Honey is a reliable demulcent which can be used to alleviate coughing symptoms . As we’re now in the height of summertime, this is a great time to start buying some locally harvested honey and make the most of its many health benefits . . #honey #honeyhealthbenefits #honeyforhealth #naturalhealth #nutrition #flavinoids #sugarreplacement #preworkout #postworkout #summer #antioxidants See more

12.01.2022 Hair loss or hair thinning is the pits! We want lots of thick beautiful strands filling our scalp...not falling out while brushing or showering to the point of concern! . Hair loss can have many reasons. First, general hair thinning is different from Alopecia areata, which is autoimmune. Still important to consider these other reasons though . Let’s go over the most common ones you can evaluate... . If you’ve recently given birth, you get the massive blow out while everything is shifting in your body. It is stressful, but don’t panic because it usually rebalances over months . If you’re low in iron, that can cause hair loss plus other symptoms like easy bruising, short of breath on exertion, heavier periods and cold hands and feet . Hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism - this can cause hair loss plus so many other symptoms . Scalp infection like ring worm or fungus. Mycotoxins in general cause this consider getting tested for this . Using chemicals in your hair that causes problems. You could be colouring your hair too often, or using shampoo, conditioner and/or other products with harmful ingredients. (Remember to read labels and get educated on this so you can make safe choices) . Major stress will cause temporary hair loss...unless your stress is ongoing. Divorce, illness, moving house, loss of a loved one, job change, etc will do it. . Any hormone imbalance, whether your own hormones are out of balance or you’re doing something like the pill or got the mirena IUD put in... or recently stopped hormone therapy, can trigger hair loss . Once you’ve identified what is behind the hair loss, you can start the process of prevention! . . #hairloss #hairthinning #postnatal #lowiron #hyperthyroidism #hypothyroidism #mycotoxins #parasites #stress #hormoneimbalance #healthyhair #losingmyhair #hairfall See more

09.01.2022 Happy Monday everyone! Who loves and needs their coffee on a Monday morning ? Coffee has been given a bad wrap. The truth is that it's actually very healthy in moderation. Coffee is high in antioxidants, and studies show that coffee drinkers live longer, and have a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's and numerous other diseases.
06.01.2022 Estrogen can actually worsen your histamine, your allergy symptoms, and even your PMS . You probably already know that histamine can make you tired. But did you know that it’s also affected by estrogen? . Mast cells are part of your immune system. When they burst open, they release several things, one being histamine. There is some research which suggests that estrogen may activate mast cells, which may be associated with increasing inflammatory players... . Are your allergies or asthma worse at PMS? Histamine can also stimulate estradiol section from granulosa cells in the ovary. This means your estrogen goes UP . Histamine is broken down by DAO (look that up) in the gut. Estrogen may actually slow the DAO enzyme . So you end up keeping more histamine in your system - it’s a vicious cycle . High histamine symptoms include your typical allergy type symptoms but can include skin rashes or sensitivity, headaches, digestive issues, cramping, tissue swelling, headaches, anxiety, fatigue and more . . #allergies #histamine #estrogen #mastcells #inflammation #pms #hormones #hormonehealth See more
