23.01.2022 Our dental practitioners across all five clinics are playing a vital role in safely treating and caring for the d-spa patient community that have urgent and essential dental needs as well as managing those in pain and dental emergencies. Non-urgent routine dental treatment which includes preventive care appointments, cleans and cosmetic dental work will be deferred until further notice. It is critical that as dental health carers, we play our part to maintain these services t...o the wider d-spa community so that our health system can cope with what may lie ahead. Appointments will be essential as d-spa hours will be limited from Monday to Friday 9 to 5. As d-spa clinics remain open across Melbourne, we would like to reassure you that the health and safety of our team and d-spa patient community are paramount. Since the inception of the first dental spa in Australia 20 years ago our infection control measures have been and remain of the highest standards. These measures aim to prevent bacteria and viruses from being passed from one person to another. We assume everyone that enters our clinics is potentially infectious. Our infection control protocols include - Standard precautions - Personal hygiene and hand washing - Protective equipment - Needlestick and sharps injury prevention - Cleaning and disinfection - Respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette - Waste disposal - Safe injection practices In addition to these infection-control protocols we have implemented extra measures and procedures in line with the recommendation, by the Department of Health and Human Services, and Center for Disease Control and Prevention, to deal with the unfolding crisis and avoid transmission of the virus. We have assigned an infection control warden at each clinic to ensure the following extra measures are strictly implemented. As we navigate through these challenging times, we continue to monitor daily updates from the Australian Dental Association and Australian health authorities regarding the unfolding crisis. You may check our updates online via our d-spa website or visit our Facebook & Instagram for more information. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to the entire d-spa team for their commitment to compassion and understanding towards one another and the wider d-spa patient community. Lastly, as your dentist, we ask that you brush and floss your teeth, and rinse your mouth daily for great oral health. Stay well and be safe, Dr Joseph Badr

17.01.2022 You can minimise the risk of oral health issues by limiting the consumption of sugary and acidic food and beverages, however, we understand that’s not always possible. A simple way to avoid damage is to rinse your mouth with water and wait at least 20 minutes before brushing. If you are experiencing any decay or damage, it is important that you visit your local d-spa to ensure no further damage is done. #dspa

Currently, all five locations are open 8 am - 6 pm, and will remain so until further advised. In doing so, we have assigned an infection control warden at each clinic to ensure the following extra measures are strictly implemented - Sanitisers at the front office asking every person entering the clinics to sanitise their hands. - Hand sanitizer, alcohol, alcohol wipes and tissues are available at pay points, entrances and hand sinks for our community to utilise. - We are Screening every patient making an appointment or confirming an appointment to reschedule for 3 weeks if they are not feeling well, have travelled overseas in the last 14 days or if they had been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID 19. - Team members are asked to not return to work if they satisfy the same criteria asked of our patients. - Encouraging team members to avoid crowded areas including festivals night clubs bars restaurants and pubs. - Team members are to only work at their clinic and not visit other sites. As our clinics remain open I need to reassure you that the health and safety of our team and patients is paramount. As we navigate these challenging times we continue to monitor the unfolding crisis and we encourage to check our updates online. All treatment permitted under level 2 restrictions will be done safely at our clinics following ADA infection control guidelines. Our infection control protocols include; - Examinations and cleans. - Hand scaling ...cleans (no use of ultrasonic scalers). - Preventative procedures. - Teeth whitening. - Simple non-invasive fillings. - Restorative procedures such as crowns. - Non-surgical extractions. - Medical management of soft tissue presentations (such as ulcers). - Denture procedures. - Invisalign and orthodontic treatment. - Toothache management. We will continue screening our team and patients for cold and flu symptoms over the phone and when they present to the practice, and applying the Managing COVID-19 Guidelines. Patients who are considered moderate or high risk will be kindly asked to reschedule their appointments and defer treatment for 3 weeks. The health and safety of the d-spa team, our patients and the wider community remain paramount. The team at d-spa look forward to seeing you in our Melbourne clinics soon!
