23.01.2022 This weekend we hosted Jota Joti on behalf of Port Curtis District Scouts with the assistance of the districts leaders. But we could never have done it without the assistance of 2 local clubs and businesses. - Dreamtilt supplied our internet, which enabled the youth to play minecraft in designated scoutlink servers, talk to other scouts and leaders on scoutlink chatrooms. The fast reliable internet also allowed the radio club to hook their radios into the network to extend t...heir coverage. - The Gladstone Amateur Radio Club for coming and setting up the radios, teaching the youth about how the radios work and connecting them with scouting members around the world. Thank you again to all the leaders, youth and the service providors that made this weekend a great sucess. Hopefully post covid we can return to having it as a combined activity and not have to split it into alot of small sessions. We are already looking at stuff we can improve on for next year to make it bigger and better.

22.01.2022 Last night we had the pleasure of welcoming Rotary Gladstone Sunrise who came down to inspect the new gazebo and inflatable lanterns that we purchased with a donation from their club. Thank you again for your support of our group and we look forward to working with you in the future.

16.01.2022 The Queensland Government has announced a tightening of COVID-19 restrictions effective 8am this morning (22 /8 /20). These changes are targeting the residenti...al sector and DO NOT APPLY to Scouts Queensland because we are operating under an approved industry COVID Safe Plan. We need to maintain our compliance with QBSI 7.15 and in particular cough and sneeze protocals, hand washing/ sanitising and social distancing. Enjoy your Scouting! See more

12.01.2022 Good afternoon, After discussions between the leaders today, it has been decided that at this stage Tuesday 24th of March will be the final night of Term 1 for the cub and scout sections. We appreciate your assistance during this time of uncertainty and we understand if you wish to not attend on this night. The health and safety of our leaders, members and their family's is of upmost importance to us. What will term 2 bring? We do not know. At this stage it will be a 'watch... this space' situation and we will keep you updated on the section Facebook pages, but most likely its looking like scouting will be online virtual meetings until its safe for us to meet again. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact myself, Liam or any of our leaders. Thanks for your understanding, Kind Regards Lindsay Brookes Group Leader Dolphin Sea Scout Group See more

09.01.2022 Good afternoon, Attached is advice recieved from Scouts QLD. With the risk of coronavirus being of importance to everyone we are asking all parents to hold your children at home if they are showing any of the symptoms including -runny nose -sore throat -cough... -fever -difficulty breathing (severe cases) If any member is showing these symptoms please keep them away from scouting activities for a minimum of 14 days. If any members show any symptoms while at a scouting activity, their parents will be called to collect the child. The health and safety of all members is our priority and your assistance is appriciated during these times. This will be updated as further information comes to hand or situations change. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us. Kind regards Lindsay Brookes Group Leader

09.01.2022 Good afternoon, Since the escalation of the Covid-19 restrictions were released, our leaders have all had many discussions on the future of the group, especially around the importance of avoiding non essential travel, and the benefits of social distancing. Overnight a unanimous decision was made in a group chat with all leaders, that it will be in the best interest of the group as a whole that we end the term early. This decision wasn't taken lightly and there was a lot of... discussion about it. But in the end the health and well being of the youth, our leaders and everyone's family's is of our priority. So confirming all sections of the group will not be meeting again for the remainder of term 1. Term 2 we are awaiting further information from Branch but will most likely at this stage return via video chat with the youth issued challenges and projects to work through at home and be able to present to their leader to me signed off. At this stage this is all to be confirmed and once we know we will let everyone know. On behalf of all our leaders we apologise for any inconvenience this causes but we hope everyone's family's and friends are safe and we look forward to your return in Term 2. Kind Regards Lindsay Brookes

08.01.2022 Thank you to Rotary Club of Gladstone Port Curtis for coming out to Lake Awoonga and presenting your safeTALK presentation to the leaders of Port Curtis District Scouts yesterday. It was a very informative session that showed our leaders how to identify people that maybe having suicidal thoughts, how to talk to them, and how to direct them to someone that can help. The information we received may one day help to save someone’s life and I recomend more people to do the coarse to remove the taboo around talking about suicide. #safetalk #suicideprevention #scoutsqld #readysetscout #callyamates
