23.01.2022 A blast from our past - fun from the 80's!!!

23.01.2022 We’ve all seen this guy before hanging around our roller doors and mailboxes. Red-Back spider bites can actually be dangerous for children and the elderly, so i...t’s important to know how to treat this type of bite. As Australians, we’re pretty well equipped to handle spider bites, but in case you need a refresher, here’s how you can treat a bite: Follow the DRSABCD action plan Lay the patient down, rest and reassure. Ensure you monitor their condition for any changes. Apply a cold pack or cold compression to lessen the pain for no longer than 20 minutes Seek medical aid if the person bitten is a young child or elderly, has collapsed or is suffering from severe pain. If you’ve been bitten, you may experience some unpleasant symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, swelling and profuse sweating. Try to remain calm and seek medical attention. You shouldn’t necessarily need an ambulance for a spider bite, but in severe life-threatening cases always call Triple Zero (000).

20.01.2022 Did you know?? When you need our ambulance assistance you will be invoiced to cover the cost of the callout. However,if you are a Benefit Fund member (which will cost $93.00/year for a family or $56.00/year for an individual) you, along with your family, will be covered throughout WA for a year for all your ambulance needs. In addition, the income we receive from your membership stays in our community. This helps us with the ongoing maintenance and running costs of the sub... centre, as well as our long-term planning for capital improvements and purchase of new ambulances, when required. For further enquiries please phone 9645 0176 (Wednesday only) or email [email protected]

11.01.2022 Every year, approximately 34,000 Australians and New Zealanders suffer from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, with 80% occurring within our homes. This Restar...t A Heart Week, we're helping raise awareness about the importance of early CPR and defibrillation and you can help! Remember to CALL, PUSH and SHOCK - it could help save a life. - @Council of Ambulance Authorities - Australasia

Thank you to Trevor and staff at Primaries Quairading for choosing the Quairading sub centre as the recipient of their donation.

04.01.2022 Our volunteers enjoyed working with Quairading District High School last Friday for the cross country event.

03.01.2022 WE'RE ON THE TELLY! Have you seen one of the Quairading ads? This is one of the stars, Sharon. You'll find her at the Quairading CRC when you visit during the w...eek looking for local knowledge, friendly banter and more. You'll also find Sharon at one of our favourite local gems - Loose Stitches, at the Quairading Golf Club or driving for St John WA - Quairading. 03.01.2022 As part of our standard procedure during COVID-19, and to ensure our patients receive the best and most appropriate prehospital care, our Crews will be asking a...ll patients if they have any flu like symptoms. This is to protect our amazing Volunteers and our Community of the Wheatbelt against the spread of any potentially infectious illness including COVID-19. When calling for an Ambulance, you will be asked by the 000 call taker if you have flu like symptoms. When our crews arrive, they will ask you the same questions. Please don’t be scared to answer truthfully, even if you think you just have a mild cold. We have strict hygiene measures in place to keep you and our crews safe. Our goal is to help our community stay safe and stop the spread - but we can’t do that without our resilient and fantastic Community behind us. Stay safe! The St John Team - Wheatbelt

02.01.2022 2020 has proven to be an incredibly challenging year, especially for all the First Responders across the country. They were there for us when the bush fires sta...rted and they were there for us when COVID-19 hit our communities. One thing's for certain... they have never stopped giving back - not for one second. Today we're thanking all First Responders far and wide, for their dedication and commitment to helping members of the community when they needed it most. Thank you for keeping us safe and thank you for never giving up. Thank a first responder in the comments or share this post, we want to spread the love as far as we can! 01.01.2022 When our mascot Kura the Bear said her American cousin knows CPR, we were stunned! Turns out this grizzly bear thinks CPR applies to inanimate objects too... on... the plus side her depth, rate and release are pretty good! When performing CPR on a patient, ensure you complete 30 chest compressions to 2 breaths. You can practice on a bin if you like, but we'd much prefer you come and practice on one of our CPR mannequins instead (way more hygienic too!).
