25.01.2022 Im back... and feeling appreciated! Have been working hard for my clients and kicked a few goals recently. Today I received this wonderful gift after a marathon job last week prepping materials for their conference last Friday. I have the best clients! Thank you Aged Care Gurus.

24.01.2022 The completely revised edition of 'Making Money Made Simple' has gone to press today! Noel, editor Helena Bond, and I spent many hours working on this book together, honing it into an easy-to-read and highly informative guide that will set you in good stead for managing your personal finances. I've had the pleasure of working on Noel's books as a designer and typesetter for the past 20 years and this is his best book to date. Follow the link below and order your copy today, the first 500 copies will be signed.

24.01.2022 Infographics ... pictures help tell the story. This is part of a series created for a financial services client. #infographic #illustration #dtastudio

24.01.2022 Heres a fine art piece titled Anatomy of the Mangroves that I created over a decade ago for the World Wetlands Day Art Competition ... and was also lucky enough to win first prize! This piece of paper art was painted in acrylics and used hand-cut paper collage techniques. The entire surface was then varnished. The premise of the design was that Mangroves are the lungs of the wetlands ecosystem. As an acquisitive prize, this piece became part of the organisations art collection, and was also shown in a travelling exhibition for several years after being acquired. World Wetlands Day is held on 2 February every year.

24.01.2022 Attending the Adobe Symposium in Sydney today (from my desktop here in Brisbane via LiveStream) ... finding out about all the cool new toys and tools.

22.01.2022 Got a new biz? Let me design a logo, business card, flyer and pull up banner like I did for My Next Steps, a great business helping people navigate career pathways for both school leavers and those looking for a change in direction. #careers #discovermynextsteps #logo #flyer #pullupbanner #dtastudio https://www.facebook.com/discovermynextsteps/

22.01.2022 Beautiful and mesmerising...

21.01.2022 A graphic designers job is often finding a way to visually represent something so the reader can make sense of it. Which just goes to prove that a picture is worth a 1000 words ... well, around 100 words in this case. #makingmathsmakesense #onlinemaths #graphics #dtastudio

21.01.2022 Because you can never have too many colours...

20.01.2022 A play with mixed media on the weekend, including using markers (which I havent really used since the early 1990s). Title: A dip at Koureyabba Medium: Cont, graphite and markers on Watercolour paper.

19.01.2022 Text is my area of specialty, especially books. I really like to make the written word work harmionously with images and be effortless to read. Heres a book I designed last year about the life of Wal Stubbings, titled Wharfie.

19.01.2022 Celebrating another book created and out there in the world with editor Helena Bond and author Jost Sauer at the launch of his latest book, Clock on to Health: Its time to feel good. This book teaches you about living the Chi Lifestyle by following principles of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, and has the cutest character illustrations by Josts brother-in-law Leon Fitzpatrick. Was a great pleasure to work on this, and Im so proud of the final result.

18.01.2022 Have been putting the final touches on this Magazine this week ... great subject matter!

12.01.2022 How wonderful would it be to spend a couple of hours with such an amazing author and illustrator. I loved Dame Lynley Dodds books when the boys were little, both for the characters in the stories and the fabulous illustrations. Slinky Malinki will always be a favourite.

12.01.2022 Back into the dance year again learning new routines! Heres my tribute to my Dancing Divas in my Redbubble shop - tote bags, coffee mugs, throw pillows and decorative acrylic blocks available - http://rdbl.co/2EQcHrg

10.01.2022 Next time you have an event coming up, how are you going to invite your participants? Via email, via post, or a combination of both? One design can often suffice for both uses. Here are a couple of invitations I created for a client of mine, Precision Wealth Management. To find out more, check out my latest SHOW and TELL blog post, "Inviting Invitations" - http://bit.ly/2EL83ts #invitations #events #flyers #financialadviser #dtastudio

09.01.2022 When you work until 3am to finish a job for a client so you can go on an overnight fishing trip with your friend on her boat ... thats not crazy, thats incentive. #myhappyplace #moetandfishing #weekendoff #imagination

09.01.2022 Attended a book launch last night of one of my clients books (I did the typesetting) ... the first fiction project Ive been involved in. Based on a real-life event and set in Brisbane, this tale tells the story of a flamboyant celebrity public servant who steals project funds to splurge on gifts and his extravagant lifestyle and then after meeting an environmental journalist donates the stolen money to environmental causes. This over-the-top character takes us on a hilarious journey of a wannabe Prince, his outrageous lifestyle and rise in the Brisbane social scene, a Royal Wedding, the 2011 Brisbane Floods and other events from recent history. The book is available at Avid Reader or download the ebook copy (which I also produced) from Amazon.

07.01.2022 Quick trip to Newport Marina this morning to deliver this Magazine. Such a lovely day to be out and about.

06.01.2022 My trusty laptop with a custom case (what do you think?) Been busy, busy in the studio since Easter editing/formatting text and graphics for a web-based educational program, Infusionsoft marketing templates, brochures for print and email distribution (with interactive links) and edits to a logo! Will have some more Show n Tell when I come up for air!

06.01.2022 Six years ago I had the pleasure of assisting my sons Year 2 class (along with fellow artist Nikki Armstrong) with art projects each week, one project being a group submission for the Youth Art Awards. We were fortunate enough to win first prize which was funds for a group art project. Eco the Owl was the result of this. Made from recycled materials and laser-cut MDF feathers which the children decorated, the final assembly was completed five years ago today and presented to the outgoing long-serving principal who was retiring and the school community as a whole. It was then displayed in the school library. Such a wonderful achievement for all involved!

06.01.2022 On the road again... new windscreen signage for motorhome travellers in Kalgoorlie! A cracked windscreen was being replaced and the original artwork for the existing windscreen decal (pictured) wasnt available, so I replicated it! I liaised with the signwriter and clients in Kalgoorlie, as well as the insurance company in Melbourne. Job done, and all managed remotely from Brisbane. Who says my job is ordinary? #signwriting #motorhome #muttondressedaslamb #dtastudio

05.01.2022 Very clever, and proving the power of colour and how it is perceived. Like how a pink/purple packet of chips is always going to be salt and vinegar flavoured.

05.01.2022 Have a wonderful Easter weekend everyone!

03.01.2022 Favourite office view... #boatsitting #waterfrontoffice #morningteamoment #wishiwastherenow
