NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia annually to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s National NAIDOC week theme is Always Was, Always Will Be and recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years and their spiritual and cultural connection to Country. At Dubbo Square we have partnered w...ith indigenous author Sylvia Lockyer and local primary schools to create a NAIDOC themed children’s storybook. Participating schools were asked to submit a series of drawings to create the illustrations which will be featured in the storybook. Our local shoppers were provided with the opportunity to vote for their favourite illustrations to be included. We are thrilled to be releasing our NAIDOC community storybook for free download on our website this Friday 13 November.
