25.01.2022 Remember Kids, Santa is always watching

24.01.2022 Term 3 safety week. This is a very valuable week, so please attend if your children are well.

22.01.2022 Stage 2 will be starting from Monday We are getting closer to normality

22.01.2022 We are super EXCITED to be able to post this picture. We know you and your little swimmers have been waiting patiently to get back into our pool. We have started with offering those swimmers who missed out on their lessons when we had to shut down due to COVID 19 in March. We will be starting those who had already enrolled into term 2 in term 3 (20th July)with restrictions. If this was you, you will receive information via email tonight.... We will have very limited spot in some of the Bubs classes and I will pop information up as to how to enroll into these later this week. We value your patience on this matter so please do not message in for info, it will come out on this page first. Happy Monday

22.01.2022 This story really hits home now that is is getting warmer, we are off to the Dam and river more to cool off. Ensure your kids can swim to save themselves and wear life jackets.... 'Your 12 year old daughter has just been rescued after nearly drowning in the Murray river’ This was the phone call an Echuca mum received from police yesterday morning, 21st Nov 2020. WHAT? This really emphasises the dangers around open water ways, peer pressure and the importance of achieving a h...igh swim ability. Active level seven was my minimum standard before any of my children could stop lessons, yes this was forced no matter how cold the pool was and I did not care if they got teased for still doing swim lessons. I must mention I did pay for lessons as even though I was a competent swimmer I was not a qualified instructor to teach all the survival strokes properly. Thankfully and perfectly timed yesterday morning, Peter decided to play with his dog at Moama beach instead of swimming, while waiting for Chloe (his girlfriend and my daughter) to do a swim training session in the river. There was a group of young girls that were playing around in the water. Some of them started talking about swimming across the river. One girl said she didn’t think she was capable and appeared nervous. Peter and others on the beach were doing their own thing when they heard someone yelling for help. The girl was caught in the strong current and was getting swept away down the middle of the river. There were many people on the bank concerned and not knowing how to help. It was actually great for them to say that they didn’t have the swimming ability to go after her. So Peter, who often trains in the river with us, swam around 300m to rescue her. Thankfully she was floating on her back and he towed her back to the edge and walked her back to the beach. This could have been a disaster if she was not able to float on her back, if the paddle steamer was passing by, if Peter was not there etc etc. Get kids professionally taught at least survival lessons and survival strokes. Floating is such an important underestimated skill. Teach children the dangers of open water swimming- no matter what your swimming ability. Even how you can get to the edge it is so different than a pool. Stay safe out on the water this Summer. www.fitnessfocus.com.au See more

21.01.2022 SAFETY WEEK IS COMING!! 23rd - 29th of March.... fyi, its already the 15th!! And.. its EASTER themed!... So think bunny ears, bunny shirts, eye liner whiskers, and cute pink noses! And the safety week essentials, shirt, pants and old shoes! More info will be posted throughout the week.

21.01.2022 BALANCE! It is obviously super cute when we get the kids wave to you from the pool, but there is also a functional reason for it! It helps them learn to balance in the water, it encourages them to let go with one hand at a time, all with advancing to big arms for freestyle in mind.... Side note, they get so excited when you wave back! Paying attention to them really is the biggest gift you can give them. Put the phone away, forget the stresses of the day, and be in the moment with your swimming superstar. It's all a matter of balance

20.01.2022 Thank You for your continual support for 2020! We would love you to take a moment and vote for Fitness Focus Dubbo with the 2020 Dubbo Chamber Business Awards Most Popular Business for 2020 If you could spare 10seconds that would be great thanks. ... 19.01.2022 We understand you are excited about getting your little swimmers back in the water. Here is our opening plan starting from Monday. As we do not have dates on each stage yet, please know that we will keep you updated every step and advise when we are ready to start swimming. Stay safe

18.01.2022 Have you ever noticed that your child has beautiful straight kicking legs, can blow bubbles better than most, and even has the art of "big arms" completely down... but put them all together and it becomes some sort of dance move from the early 90's?? Coordination, we don't all have it naturally. To help combat this, we start really early doing two or three things at once. Seems simple but think of an adult equivalent.. can all of you run while typing an essay and whistling a tune?

18.01.2022 Here is some weekend fun for you and your little swimmers can do. If its raining, use torches

18.01.2022 Which side of the brain do you think your child/ren use the most? I know some just LOVE the water so much, even getting upset when they have to hop out!

18.01.2022 Have you ever had a "Plank off" with your children? Its loads of fun and its building up those tummy muscles needed for swimming. Why don't you make it a family affair and make a pyramid Pop your pic's in the comments.

18.01.2022 In efforts to keep all families safe we are asking you to remember that only one parent per family is allowed at the pool for swimming lessons. Please adhere to social distancing when attending. Thank you.

18.01.2022 Coronavirus update... We understand that health and wellbeing is your focus at the moment, and wed like to assure you that it is ours too. Wed like to reassure you that we are still open and operating normal facilities and timetables until we hear anymore updates from the government. ... We are implementing precautionary measures as recommended by Australian Health Department. Continued to ensure our swimming pool contains chlorine levels inline with Australian Guidelines. Chlorine keeps the water clean and safe to swim in by killing the bacteria We are asking staff not to come into work if they show any signs of illness so we ask the same to you and your children/family You can help us to help you stay healthy by: Washing your hands regularly during your visit, especially when using toilets and changing facilities Covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, using a tissue or the crook of your arm Not visiting us if you have any symptoms however mild Limiting the spectators that attend to watch swimming sessions We will be reviewing the procedures on an ongoing basis as further advice is made available. 16.01.2022 Happy Easter to all our little swimmers and their families.

16.01.2022 Has your little swimmer found it difficult to float? Alot of the reason can be because they do not like the feeling of water in their ears. Try using the bath to help. Fill the bath with enough water to cover your child's ears. Ecourage your child to lie on their back and rest their head on the bottom with the water covering ears. This can be a slow process to get them to trust the idea and eventually put their ears in. If you don't have a bath, encourage your child to stand under the shower and tilt head to the side to allow the water to easily flow in and out.

This allows parents and children to explore how their bodies feel in the water and the way water moves around their motions and movements. Here is our Saturday morning Bubs n’ Us class singing The wheels on the bus What is your favourite song to sing in the pool? Drop a comment below and let us know.
