23.01.2022 DHG needs your help! We are working on rescheduling the From Christenings to Funerals Display - Churches of the Hundred of Dublin including Lower Light but two churches we have minimal photos and information on. The Wild Horse Plains Methodist Church which closed in 1961 and Dublin Christ Church which closed in 1910. Were you or your family members christened, married or have a funeral service in these churches, did you attend the church or Sunday School. We would love for you to share your story or photos with us either though here or our email address. PS happy to receive info or photos on our other churches as well Thank you in advance

23.01.2022 Well we finally did it, we presented our "From Christening to Funerals" Display, thank you to our four guest speakers, Lois Wasley, Gwen Secomb, Father Bart ODonovan and Andrea Brow for sharing your knowledge, to our guests for coming and seeing what we had been working on and the many contributors who sent in their photos and stories. The display will be on for the next few months so look out for our Open Days. There will be one next Tuesday 18th August from 1.00 to 5.00 pm - come, sit and enjoy an interesting read and learn about our local churches. Remember our research never ends we are always happy to receive your shared memories

22.01.2022 Congratulations to the Recipients

18.01.2022 Seventy-five years ago today, on 15 August 1945, Prime Minister Ben Chifley addressed the nation: Fellow citizens, the war is over. The Japanese government has... accepted the terms of surrender imposed by the allied nations. The Second World War was over. Spanning six years, the war was the most destructive conflict in human history. The defeat of Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Imperial, Militarist Japan - claimed 60 million lives; 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust. A life was extinguished every three seconds. The world would never be the same again. In Australia, 15 August 1945 was gazetted as VP Day: Victory in the Pacific Day. Hundreds of thousands of jubilant Australians spilled into the streets of the nations cities, swept up in celebratory pandemonium. No one that day needed reminding of the value of freedom - or the price that had been paid for it. There was relief that the war was finally over, but apprehension about the future. To mark the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War the Memorial has curated a range of articles, collection items, events and first-hand accounts from veterans. 13.01.2022 More local news

13.01.2022 A privilege to be accompanied by distinguished guests and thank a generation who were called to serve. Seventy five years ago, a weary Australia laid down its a...rms and felt the first, joyous stirrings of peace. An entire country had been called to serve, and answered the call with courage, endurance, mateship, and sacrifice. A great victory had been won at great cost. Nearly a million Australians enlisted to serve. Almost 40,000 lost their lives in the performance of their duty. Millions more stepped up to serve their country in its time of need whether as volunteers, sparing what they could in donations, or doing what needed to be done to fill the gaps left by those deployed to fight. We remember them all. It was a truly national effort. We are proud of their service, and the spirit they embodied is alive today. We honour them through being of service once again to our country, our communities, and each other.

13.01.2022 Looking forward to Sunday
