18.01.2022 A reminder that flu vaccines this year are FREE for all children from 6 months old, up to and including ALL primary school aged children - and we have lots of these available! We also have good availability of vaccines for people from Year 7 through to age 64 who qualify for a free vaccine. Unfortunately the stock of private flu vaccines have run out. 14.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE General Practice has changed in the last months to help contain the spread of COVID-19, many of our usual practices have changed for the protection of our patients and healthcare workers. These changes have brought about the introduction of a number of new ways of managing our daily practices. Screening of our patients both over the phone and on attendance is occurring to maintain the highest level of care we can offer in a safe environment. Patients requ...iring attendance to an appointment are still able to be offered a face to face consult and be assured that our surgery has been maintained as a safe environment. Telehealth appointments are being offered for consultations where this is appropriate, this is to protect our vulnerable patients and reduce the number of people entering the surgery unnecessarily. Medicare have introduced several item numbers to make this bulk billed for the majority of patients. Flu Clinics are underway and we have already provided a large number of vaccinations to the most at risk patients in our community. 13.01.2022 Flu vaccines are now available for ALL patients >6 months old at both of our clinics (Duchess Medical Practice, and Duchess @ Vasse) A reminder of the following patient groups who are eligible for a free vaccination (this year including all children older than 6 months up to and including Yr 6) persons 65 years or older children 6 months to less than 5 years... primary school-aged children (born after 30 June 2007 and > 5 years) pregnant women (any trimester) Aboriginal people 6 months and older individuals 6 months and older with medical conditions that place them at risk for complications of influenza, including: cardiac disease chronic respiratory conditions chronic neurological conditions impaired immunity diabetes and other metabolic disorders renal disease haematological disorders children aged 6 months to 10 years receiving long-term aspirin therapy Private vaccines are available for all other patients 6 months old up to age 64 and cost $20.
