13.01.2022 COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS EASED!! More families can attend community sports, music ensembles and school camps can proceed, and a modest increase in dancing at weddings is allowed under new COVID-19 safety rules. While we are by no means out of the woods, low case numbers give health authorities the confidence to allow mums and dads back onto the sideline! From THIS WEEKEND, more than one parent may now attend community sporting activities if physical distancing of at least 1....5 metres can be maintained between people that are not from the same household. NSW Health has also given the green light for up to 20 people in the official Wedding Party to take to the dance floor, where previously only the happy couple were permitted. Restrictions around school activities will also be eased the start of Term 4, including: Community Languages Schools Program will recommence face to face learning; Interschool activities can recommence on September 26 where there is a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place; Playing wind instruments, singing and chanting is permitted with strict restrictions; Year 6 formals and graduations are permitted; High school formals are permitted from 12 November to limit any HSC disruption; and Kindergarten orientation, Year 7 transition, excursions and camps can resume with strict guidelines. Musical ensembles can also resume, as long as players keep a 1.5 metre distance from one another, or three metres for players of non-reeded woodwind instruments. I would like to thank all the parents and volunteers in community sport for their commitment to following the guidelines to help keep our community safe. Accommodation facilities and overnight event organisers should develop and implement a COVID-19 Safety Plan. All carpooling should continue to be avoided. There is no restriction on school holiday travel within NSW for people who live within the State however, anyone who is unwell should defer travel plans and get tested. 09.01.2022 On a number of occasions over the past few weeks I have gone on the record urging common sense to prevail when it comes to allowing agriculture workers to be allowed to cross borders in a COVID-safe manner. As a result I welcome today’s announcement from the Premier, Acting Deputy Premier and Agriculture Minister that NSW has written the new Agricultural Workers Code into public health orders. Farmers can now access the labour resources required to help them get a crop out of... the paddock in a harvest that promises to be the best for at least half a decade After many years of drought, followed by bushfires and now COVID, it is fair to say our primary producers have done things tough. Thanks to some wonderful rain over the past few months things are looking great in our regions, and I am glad we are leading the way when it comes to helping our farmers capitalise on that. 07.01.2022 Today is Police Remembrance Day - a day when our community pauses to remember our fallen police officers. This is an important time on the calendar year for the police family, and as a small mark of respect, this evening the iconic Sydney Opera House Sails will be lit up in blue and white check to remember those that paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. To all of our fallen and current police officers and their families - thank you for service!... NSW Police Force #policeremembranceday #thankyou

07.01.2022 HAVE YOUR SAY ON REGIONAL WATER STRATEGY The NSW Government is calling on the community to have their say on the first Regional Water Strategy for the Macquarie-Castlereagh region. 06.01.2022 MOBILE COVID-19 TESTING CLINICS: It's FREE and NO REFERRAL OR APPOINTMENT NEEDED! The Western NSW Local Health District (LHD) drive-through COVID-19 testing is back in our region next week, visiting Blayney and Condobolin. The LHD has tested more than 13,271 people over the past four weeks, but we NEED to keep testing people, so we can stay on top of COVID-19 as restrictions are decreased. The drive-through service is free of charge, you don’t need a referral or appointment t...o attend and you won't even have to leave your car. Staff will come to you, do a short assessment and get your details, and then do a swab from the back of your throat and then the back of your nose. The tests are then sent away for analysis which normally takes about 48 hours. If your test is negative, you can request to get those results by text message even faster. You need to isolate until your results come back. The symptoms of COVID-19 can be very mild, so it’s important to get tested if you feel even the slightest symptoms including: fever, a sore or ‘scratchy’ throat, a cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, tiredness and muscle aches. If you have any questions or concerns, call the National Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 020 080 or healthdirect on 1800 022 222. While most electronic devices automatically update to daylight saving time, anyone with a manual clock or watch should wind it forward by one hour before going to bed on Saturday night. 03.01.2022 October’s Mental Health Month is an opportunity for all of us to acknowledge the incredible efforts of those in the mental health workforce and to establish new healthy habits that will benefit our physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. We all have mental health but just like our physical fitness, it can go up and down from time to time. It’s a great time to commit to boosting your mental fitness, which is all about doing small everyday things that can help you build res...ilience, so you are better positioned to cope with life’s ups and downs. This could include getting enough sleep each night, reducing your alcohol intake, or taking the time to regularly chat with a trusted friend. In 2019/20 the NSW Government has committed a record investment of $2.1 billion into mental health services for people living with mental illness, their families and carers. Mental Health Month is celebrated every October across NSW, ACT and Victoria, and centres around World Mental Health Day on 10 October. 01.01.2022 Our region has some great waterways that are ideal places for recreational fishing and thanks to the rain we’ve had over the past few months there is plenty of water and conditions are great. The $20 million announced by Minister Marshall will be used for projects that improve and promote recreational fishing, so I am putting the call out for our region’s keen anglers to put forward any ideas they have to build great new facilities, improve a fishing habitat, or put more in...to research. Fishers pay their licence fees and every single cent of that goes back into the sector, and this $20 million through Recreational Fishing Trust grants is just another example of that. More than one million anglers take to our waterways annually, so it’s important we give them the tools to do what they love.
