20.01.2022 NEWSLETTER NO 18 Wednesday 11 November 2020

18.01.2022 Schedule for our 2021 Pre-Kinder sessions:

16.01.2022 SRC Fundraising The SRC ran a very successful event raising funds to support the work of Loui’s Van, which is an after-hours mobile service providing food, information and support to those in need in the municipalities of Hobart, Glenorchy and Clarence. Loui’s Van is an initiative of St Vincent de Paul Society. Students came to school in free dress for a gold coin donation, and were able to purchase a double sorbet cone for $2. The total funds raised for the day was $308.00. Our school captains, presented the cheque along with donated warm blankets and jackets to Simon from St Vincent de Paul Society. Well done, everyone!

16.01.2022 In Flanders Fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly... Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders Fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders Fields. See more

13.01.2022 Remember to get a COVID-19 test even if you have mild symptoms. New equipment at the RHH means we can process more than 1,000 tests a day!

12.01.2022 R U OK? Day is Thursday 10 September 2020. It’s our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask Are you okay? if someone in your world is struggling with life’s ups and downs. The message for R U OK? Day 2020 is ‘THERE’S MORE TO SAY AFTER R U OK?’ 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us.

05.01.2022 Our students, along with Mrs Nicholson are working together to construct a hothouse to complement the garden space. They are collecting 1.25 litre clear plastic bottles to build the walls. Following a contact to Juicy Isle by School Association secretary, Natasha Harvey thanks Tash the company very generously donated 350 bottles. The added joy was that the bottles were full! The students all took the bottles home at the end of Term 2 to be emptied and then returned to school for the project. So today we completed one side of our hothouse and it’s looking fabulous. We still have a lot left to do, so please keep sending along your empty bottles. A big thank you to Juicy Isle for the fantastic donation and also to everyone who has sent along their empty bottles. Happy Planet!!
