25.01.2022 Dunbar Rovers FC NPL is pleased to announce our 2021 pre-season fixtures. Our first trial fixture will only be for our two Men's teams. All others will be for our NPL Youth (U13-U18) and NPL Men's (U20 & First Grade). We kick off proceedings on Sat Jan 30 with Men's games against Northern Suburbs Football Association outfit North Sydney United Football Club at Cammeray Oval. A week later we have a trip to Bossley Park to take on the mighty NPL1 club Marconi Stallions FC on Sa...t Feb 6. The following Saturday (Feb 13) we head to the picturesque country town of Camden to take on old friends Camden Tigers Football Club from NPL4. Then, on Saturday, Feb 20 we take on NPL1 giants APIA Leichhardt FC at historic Lambert Park, with the First Graders competing for the annual Emersen Cox Memorial Trophy, before rounding off our campaign with a trip to Chester Hill to take on NPL4's Parramatta FC at Melita Stadium on Sat Feb 27. This will undoubtedly be a challenging programme of tough games for our players & coaching staff but we are confident that it will stand us in good stead for the upcoming 2021 NPL season.

25.01.2022 Dunbar Rovers FC NPL Director Matt Delves made an appearance on the SBS The World Game podcast today to talk about the cost of NPL youth football. Tune in to hear what Matt had to say. His segment with Lucy and Nick starts at 30:10.

23.01.2022 Presenting the 2020 NPL 3 NSW Under 20 League Champions Dunbar Rovers FC NPL! Get in there!!!

23.01.2022 There is so much good going on in local communities, through the medium of football, that doesn't often get a lot of mention. One example of this is the outstanding work that our friend Jarrod Galbraith-Marten is doing for refugee groups around Sydney. Dunbar Rovers FC NPL was delighted to help in a small way, by providing a Tibetan refugee team with a full set of our ISC playing kit, which they wore at the recent M-Series Futsal tournament at Olympic Park and they will hope...fully get plenty of use out of it in other games going forward. We are sure that Rob Stevens and sponsor Positus will also be delighted that their brand continues to be associated with good in our community. After what has been a difficult year for everyone, we wanted to take this opportunity to wish all our Facebook friends a very Merry Christmas. #goodthrufootball See more

23.01.2022 2020 has been an unprecedented year in many ways for all of us, including Football NSW. It is not often that they commence an NPL 3 NSW Men's competition and then, after just two rounds, are forced to stop all play, before deciding a few months later to nullify those early results and start again, this time for only half the number of rounds initially planned. Dunbar Rovers FC NPL has done some modelling around what might have happened had results from the first two rounds of... the NPL 3 NSW Men's competition stood and been counted, rather than simply negated. THE RESULT: First Grade: We would have finished 4th (and made Finals). Under 20: We would have still finished 1st. Club Championship: We would have finished 1st. The reality is that every club contested the 26 competitive league games that they played trying to win them. We are very proud of our coaching staff and players for delivering excellent results over these 26 games and we feel we have created a good base to build upon for 2021.

23.01.2022 NPL 3 NSW Men's U20 semi-finals in a COVID-19 year mean there are no second chances - just a straight sudden death. You win - you have a VSP Grand Final a week later. You lose, that's it for season 2020. Dunbar Rovers FC NPL U20s take on highly respected Inner West club Sydney Uni Soccer Football Club in what promises to be a mouth-watering clash at Jensen Park, Regents Park tomorrow (Sat Oct 3). Earlier in the year, we came over the top of the students late in the game to gr...ab the three points but it was far from a straightforward exercise. Uni are consistently good at U20s level and we expect a real battle on neutral territory. The quick synthetic surface should suit both teams and the weather will be perfect. Head Coach Christian Soares will have a full strength squad to choose from and we know that our boys are massively up for the game. Kickoff will be 5pm. Spectators welcome but we would ask that you respect the COVID-19 restrictions that are still in operation at the grounds.

22.01.2022 Dunbar Rovers FC NPL has enjoyed celebrating our fantastic NPL 3 NSW Men's Under 20s league title over the last few days but it is very important for us to also acknowledge the role that local Eastern Suburbs grassroots clubs have played in each player's development. Even though we are a representative club playing at the NSW state level, the vast majority of our Under 20s played their junior football with grassroots clubs in the Eastern Suburbs Football Association, where th...ey had their early footballing skills honed by some excellent coaches. We would like to thank each club for their dedication to grassroots football. We are committed to continuing to provide opportunities for their talented players to excel into the future. Many of the players listed below won the NPL3 U18 league & championship double in either 2017 or 2019 with us, as well as this year's U20 league title. All are either current or future Dunbar First Graders and the club is extremely proud of each one of them, both as young men and football players. Below is the year the player first joined us, with their grassroots junior clubs listed after their names: 2016: - Joel Epshteyn (Pagewood Botany FC, Maccabi Hakoah Junior FC) - Jackson Fredericks (Queens Park Soccer Club, Easts FC, Redfern Raiders United Soccer Club) - Jack Hardwicke-Owen (Easts FC) - Ben Wrigley (Pagewood Botany FC) 2017: - Kieren Xiong (Mascot Kings Football (Soccer) Club, ESFA Metropolitan League reps) - Luke Del Vecchio (Coogee United, ESFA Metropolitan League reps) - Noah Harris (Queens Park, Redfern Raiders) - Jake Lees (Maccabi Hakoah Junior FC, ESFA Metropolitan League reps) - Reece Berrylowitz (Maccabi Hakoah Junior FC, ESFA Metropolitan League reps) 2018: - Luke Omalley (Easts FC) 2019: - Aidan Sheils (Pagewood Botany FC) - Robbie Fraser (Pagewood Botany FC) 2020: - Keanu Harris (Easts FC). 22.01.2022 Big games for our Dunbar Rovers FC NPL Boys Youth teams tomorrow (Sat, Oct 3) when we travel the short distance to Fraser Park, Marrickville to take on the famous Portuguese heritage club Fraser Park FC in Round 1 of the Phase 2.2 competition. Fraser played in the White group in Phase 1 and achieved a very similar number of points to us. Indeed, in the recent Supplementary fixture there was nothing between the clubs in the four competitive age groups, with two wins each. Both... clubs will be well matched and the games are bound to be very competitive all day, which is the way it should be at this level of football. Kick offs will take place as follows: 09:00am - U13 10:25am - U14 11:45am - U15 01:20pm - U16 03:00pm - U18 and the usual COVID-19 conditions apply. Good luck to all our teams! See more

22.01.2022 A makeshift Dunbar Rovers FC NPL First Grade Men's team really stuck it to Sydney FC's NPL1 First Grade side last night at Valentine Sports Park in a hastily organised trial game. We worked hard in the first half and a fine goal from Andrew Alvarenga gave us a not undeserved 1-0 lead at half time. Sydney FC equalised midway through the second half. Then a thunderbolt from about 30 metres out by Sam Paslis into the top left hand corner of the goal left Andrew Redmayne wishing ...he had gone to Qatar for the Asian Champions League games afterall (we are checking to see if we have video). The A-League custodian never even moved! So, 2-1 to the NPL3 side with just 15 minutes left on the clock and looking good value for our lead. However, a combination of fatigue (we are not in proper training) and a multitude of substitutions conspired against us, conceding three unanswered goals in the last 10 for a final score of 2-4. Our players will, no doubt, be thinking what might have been but the performance should give them great confidence that we can mix it with quality teams. A great exercise for us and thanks to Sydney FC for the invitation, as always.

22.01.2022 Dunbar Rovers FC NPL wrapped up its 2020 NPL 2 Boys Youth season yesterday at Heffron Synthetic with Round 5 of Phase 2.2 against Nepean FC. Our U13s were shell-shocked by a rampaging Nepean outfit, led by their excellent striker. We were looking to take out the mini league with a perfect 5-0 win ratio but unfortunately we never showed up. Even though we ended up at the top with 12 points, we were mindful that Bankstown United didn't get the chance to play their final game du...e to COVID-related issues at Fraser Park. Our U14s delivered for us. We should have probably have been about 3-0 up before we actually scored, but our boys were the better side and fully deserved the win. Our U15s battled hard to get a creditable 0-0 draw against a good side but we feel that on balance, we should have won the game. With the U18s game having already been won on a forfeit, and results elsewhere playing their part, it all came down to the U16s. The equation was simple - we needed to win to take out both the U16 mini league title and the Youth Club Championship. However, we couldn't overcome a quality Nepean outfit and came up a little bit short in the end. Nevertheless, credit to our teams for giving ourselves a fighting chance right to our very last game of the season. Congratulations to the mini league winners and to Granville Rage Football Club on winning the (unofficial) Youth Club Championship title.

21.01.2022 ONE FINAL PUSH FOR WORLD SKI AWARD The owners of our long-term sponsor Astra Falls Creek, Rosy & Seumas, have supported the club again in 2020, like they have since 2016. We would like to support them by asking all our Facebook friends to vote for them in the upcoming WORLD SKI AWARDS, if you haven't already done so. Voting closes tomorrow (Friday, Sep 25). From Rosy: "We are proud and excited that Astra Falls Creek has been nominated for the 5th consecutive year as Australia...'s Best Ski Boutique Hotel 2020. We are thrilled to be associated with this highly coveted award that honours excellence in ski hospitality and tourism. Vote now at World Ski Awards and help us bring this home to Falls Creek again." https://worldskiawards.com//australia-best-ski-boutiq/2020 Good luck from everyone at Dunbar Rovers FC NPL.

20.01.2022 As we reach the latter stages of our 2021 trials, Dunbar Rovers FC NPL is now specifically looking for players who can score goals. Do you have the killer instinct in front of goal? We know that all NPLY1 and NPLY2 clubs have retained their quality strikers but we fully expect there are some prolific strikers in community football that are looking for an opportunity to show what they can do. Register an EOI here: shorturl.at/yCP25 and our TD will be in touch and you will get an opportunity with us. Guaranteed.

20.01.2022 It is a well-known fact that footballers can be quite a superstitious bunch. Sydney FC have won the Hyundai A-League title in each of the previous two seasons and in each of those years, their first pre-season game just happened to be against Dunbar Rovers FC NPL. The top football club in Australia clearly didn't want to mess with a formula that has worked for them, so we were delighted to receive an invitation to a 'behind closed doors' fixture against their A-League squad ...last Saturday afternoon at their training base at Macquarie University, on the first day of pre-season games for the champions. It provided our new Head Coach Christian Soares with an invaluable opportunity to blood some youngsters amongst our more seasoned first graders and give game time to some new trialists as well. The game finished 3-1 to the professionals, a fairly respectable scoreline for our boys, considering we are far from being at peak fitness at the moment. Thanks to club photographer JM Sports Photography for the following excellent photos and to Sydney FC A-League Football Manager Michael Swibel for being brilliant to work with, as usual.

20.01.2022 Having had time to reflect on what has been a remarkable season so far for our Dunbar Rovers FC NPL Under 20s, finishing on top of an 11-round sprint has been arguably tougher than a regular 22-round season, because of the need to be more consistent on a weekly basis, with little room for error. It is the first time we have won an NPL U20 league title and are extremely proud as a club of this achievement. Hats off to rivals Canterbury Bankstown FC, who pushed us right until t...he final ball was kicked last evening. We can now look forward to an exciting Final Series starting next weekend. This has by no means been an overnight success for us. Huge credit must go to Gene Katliakas and Rob Seib for their work over four seasons, underpinned by our NPL3 U18 double wins of 2017 and 2019. They have developed a quality group of players, with the Dunbar culture ingrained, some of whom have already made the jump to First Grade or are on the cusp of it, and the future looks bright. This fine work was continued by our newly-announced Club TD Christian Soares who joined us at the beginning of this season. The team played outstanding football every week - our potent attack (scoring 24 goals) supported brilliantly by our creative midfield, with the foundations of a very solid defence (conceding just 5 goals in 11 games). Congratulations to every member of the core squad (with appearances), as follows: - Ben Wrigley (10) - Joel Epshteyn (9) - Kieren Xiong (11) - Luke Omalley (9) - Hamish McGlinchey (7) - Cain Bartolomei (11) - Robbie Fraser (7) - Noah Harris (6) - Jake Lees (8) - Joh Sawa (11) - Aidan Sheils (8) - Reece Berelowitz (9) - Jackson Fredericks (9) - Jack Hardwicke-Owen (10) - David Ustimenko (11) - Matthew Claps (11) - Keysar Ahmed Abdi (11) - Keanu Harris (5) - Ahmad Taleb (3) - Luke Del Vecchio (2) Well done also to Reece Berelowitz on his 50th appearance for the club. FOOTNOTE: A speedy recovery to Jackson Fredericks, who is an integral member of the squad, but who missed last night's game and celebration due to a bout of food poisoning from the night before.

20.01.2022 Make it a good one. Happy New Year!

19.01.2022 As most people will be aware, 2020 has been a very challenging season for Dunbar Rovers FC NPL from a fundraising perspective. We have been unable to run our Business Lunch and, as a result, have tried to come up with different avenues to raise funds. Luckily, we have quite successfully sold a number of framed signed football shirts recently. In the spirit of catering for a broad range of football fans, we have secured a framed signed 2019/20 Arsenal shirt, winners of The Em...irates FA Cup this season, which is sure to be a collector's item. We will be accepting bids from $1,000 for this one. Please submit your bid by messaging this Facebook page. Your bid will not be published to anyone and the highest bidder will win the prize, so make sure you submit what you think is a fair price for the item and you will be in with a chance of winning. The shirt will be on display this Saturday at Heffron Park Synthetic Field, near the canteen. It is a substantial size - far bigger than this photo suggests, so you should come and check it out. Bids will close on Saturday night at 9pm and the winner will be announced on Sunday. A real collector's item for Arsenal tragics - don't miss out. See more

18.01.2022 The mythical DUNBARTV with First Grade debutant Joel Ephsteyn after Saturday night's great win over Rydalmere Lions. Joel started playing with Dunbar Rovers FC NPL in the Under 15s back in our first NPL season in 2016 and has been with us through each grade since.

17.01.2022 Dunbar Rovers FC NPL is pleased to announce the re-signing of First Grade striker Tod Lewis Bamber for the 2021 NPL 3 NSW Men's season. Tod, a former NPL1 player, first joined the club in 2017 and scored a total of 20 goals. He then moved back to his native UK for two years before returning to Dunbar at the beginning of 2020, finishing Top 4 in the NPL3 goal scoring charts despite the abbreviated season. Head Coach Christian Soares has announced that Tod will also be First Grade captain and lead by example from the front. Tod epitomises what being a Dunbar Rovers player is all about and we are delighted to have him back.

17.01.2022 Dunbar Rovers FC NPL Men's First Grade side has finished the season on a high, by beating the previously unbeaten 2020 NPL3 First Grade League Champions Rydalmere Lions FC last night at a blustery Heffron Park Synthetic. Fifth place in the league would normally mean a Finals spot, but there is nothing normal about 2020 and we have narrowly missed out. Dunbar took the game to the Lions and were, somewhat unbelievably, 4-0 up at half time with a strong wind behind us, with two ...goals apiece to Luiz Lobo and Tod Bamber. In the second half, Rydalmere dominated and pulled two goals back but Dunbar defended pretty well considering the wind and came away with a 4-2 win. In what was a great game of attacking football, both teams blooded plenty of younger players, with Aidan Sheils and Jack Hardwicke-Owen getting another start, as well as Joel Epshteyn making his (starting) debut for Dunbar. Evergreen stalwart Neil O'Sullivan also picked up his 50th Dunbar appearance award. Well done, lads! Congratulations to Gavin, Jabba, Chaz, Ricky and all at Rydalmere Lions on a great season and best wishes for the Finals. Big thanks to our Head Coach Gene Katliakas, who put his heart and soul into the First Grade job this year, Assistant Coach Rob Seib, Analyst Chris Nguyen, as well as the entire playing squad. In a strong competition, we played some superb football but probably didn't always get the results we deserved. Overall, we were very competitive, probably leaving us with a feeling of 'what might have been' at the end. See more

15.01.2022 Another quality hit out for our Dunbar Rovers FC NPL First Grade and U20 players after being invited back to take on Sydney FC last Saturday afternoon at their training ground for the second time in eight days. It was an opportunity for Steve Corica to finalise his squad for the upcoming AFC Champions League games in Qatar and for us to trial some prospective new players. Thanks to JM Sports Photography for the excellent pics.

15.01.2022 Three years ago. What an outstanding day it was!

14.01.2022 Here is the dashboard for the eleventh and final round of the NPL 3 NSW Men's competition.

14.01.2022 It was excellent to catch up with our major sponsor @honaninsurance for a 2020 review meeting at their Sydney office, with their Melbourne contingent and Matt Delves from Canberra on Zoom. We talked about the successes of both organisations throughout 2020 and tabled some great ideas on how to maximise the opportunity we have to work together into 2021. We would like to thank Honan again for their continued support of Dunbar Rovers FC NPL through the most difficult year we have ever had.

13.01.2022 After huge demand last time, to finish off the 2020 season's fundraising activities, we are pleased to be able to offer another framed signed 2019/20 Liverpool FC Premier League winning shirt. It will be on display at Heffron Park today. To place a bid, please message us on Facebook. The reserve price is $1,000.

12.01.2022 Our Dunbar Rovers FC NPL delivered in the wet again today (Sunday) with rousing performances against Granville Rage Football Club at Lily Homes Stadium, Seven Hills. Our U13s made it four wins from four with a 4-1 victory. We went 1-0 up but allowed Rage back into the game before the break. However we scored some great goals in the second half to take the points. Unfortunately our U14s were unable to create any goal scoring chances in a largely underwhelming performance by th...eir standards, but it needs to be said that this was only their second defeat in the last ten outings and they will be keen to bounce back next week. Our U15s were the better side overall and came away with a solid, if somewhat unspectacular, 2-0 win against a Rage side that were very decent in the first half especially. The game of the day involved our U16s, who found themselves 2-0 down after two quick attacks on the break from the Granville side caught us cold. Our boys got back in the game through Ben Clarke, who probably could have (and maybe should have) had a hat trick before the break. Then Luca Bernard equalised with a fine header after half time, before Clarke popped up with 7 minutes left to win it for us. A well deserved victory on the balance of play and chances created but the spectators had palpitations as usual. A cracking game in the rain in U18s ended scoreless and in truth, neither side deserved to lose. This was very competitive and a great advertisement for NPL Youth football. Congratulations to both teams. During the week, we posed the question if our boys would come up with something special when it was most needed and they did today. The 7-4 points overall win means that we will take the Youth Club Championship battle to the final round of the season next weekend with a chance of winning it, which is exactly what we wanted. Well done to the players, coaching & support staff, as well as our supporters today. Today's scores: U13: 4-1 win U14: 2-0 loss U15: 2-0 win U16: 3-2 win U18: 0-0 draw

11.01.2022 Big day this Saturday (Sep 26) when Dunbar Rovers FC NPL Boys Youth and Men's teams play back to back at our home ground Heffron Park Synthetic, Maroubra for the first time in a number of seasons. First up, we will host NPLY2 newcomers Hurstville ZFC, for the first ever competitive boys youth fixture between the clubs, in the NPL Boys Youth Supplementary Round 5. We will all be hoping that this will be the last weekend of the local hub and NSW Health will ease restrictions on... the following weekend. Kickoff will be at the following times: 09:00am - U13 10:25am - U14 11:45am - U15 01:20pm - U16 03:00pm - U18 Then we will welcome Rydalmere Lions FC for the 11th and final round of the shortened 2020 NPL 3 NSW Men's competition. Our U20s will kick off at 5pm knowing that a win will keep the pressure on league leaders Canterbury Bankstown, in what is now a two-horse race for the title. We have been playing great football so we will be hoping to continue this momentum. This will be followed by a mouth-watering clash at 7pm, where our Men's First Grade side will attempt to be the only team to defeat the newly crowned league champions since the COVID restart. Last Saturday night's performance at Jensen will give our boys a lot of confidence, but we will be up against a bevy of superstars who, by all accounts, are clinical in front of goal. Good luck to all our teams on Saturday and remember that COVID restrictions still apply and we ask that everyone complies with the rules and social distances.

11.01.2022 Dunbar Rovers FC NPL hosts respected representative club Nepean FC from the 15,000-strong Nepean Football Association Inc. at Heffron Park Synthetic, Maroubra today (Sat Oct 31) in Round 5 of Phase 2.2 of the NPL 2 NSW Boys Youth competition, the final day of an incredibly challenging 2020 football season. Our U13s need one point to take out the league title and a win will give us an 100% record for the five rounds. Kickoff will be at 8:45am. Our U14s will be desperate to fin...ish the season well after last week's disappointing defeat. Kickoff will be at 10:10am. In the U15s, our boys will be keen to have a good shot at the league leaders and grab a result. Kickoff will be 11:35am. It's 2v1 in U16s and this should be a cracker with the winner taking out the league title. Kickoff will be at 5pm. Our U18s have received a forfeit due to Nepean players, understandably, pulling out because to HSC. We will use the opportunity to play a trial game instead. Kickoff will be 6:45pm. We currently find ourselves third in the Youth Club Championship, just 1 point behind both Granville Rage (1 game more played) and Nepean (after the forfeit is taken into consideration), so we need to take as many points as possible to give ourselves a chance of bridging the gap to the teams ahead. Good luck to all our teams in what should be a great day!

10.01.2022 See the following story. It is confirmation of something we have known for a while - that there are outstanding players in NPL3 and NPL4.

09.01.2022 ASTRA FALLS CREEK WINS GLOBAL AWARD AGAIN The World Ski Awards announced that Astra Falls Creek for the 2nd year running has been awarded as one of the Top 3 Best Ski Boutique Hotels in the World. A massive congratulations to Rosy, Seumas and the entire team for the much deserved recognition.... A huge thank you to all of our Dunbar Community that showed their support for Astra by voting. Astra have been a long time supporter of Dunbar Rovers FC NPL and we greatly appreciate their support. If you're looking for a truely amazing place to get away check out Astra https://astrafallscreek.com.au/

09.01.2022 Not the start we wanted to Phase 2.2 of the NPL 2 NSW Boys Youth competition at Fraser Park yesterday. Whilst the spoils were shared across the five games, with one win each and three draws, it was the home side that came away with a 6-3 Youth Club Championship win on the day. Our U13s got proceedings off to a perfect start and our U14 played well, should have won, but couldn't take a multitude of chances. We were beaten by a better side in U15 after giving away a poor first... goal and our U16 & U18 battled hard to grind out a point a piece. Fraser were a tough opponent and we congratulate them on the overall win. Final scores as follows: U13: 3-2 win U14: 1-1 draw U15: 2-0 loss U16: 2-2 draw U18: 1-1 draw Plenty of room for improvement and a great opportunity for all of us to lift collectively in Round 2 next Saturday.

08.01.2022 Dunbar Rovers FC NPL has completed the signing of the first of only two allowable visa players in First Grade for the 2021 NPL 3 NSW Men's season and we would like to welcome 25 year old central defender Jan Schmidt to the club. Jan hails from Frankfurt in Germany and joins us after playing the 2020 season with local NPL2 club Hakoah FC. Jan is also a professional football coach, having worked at Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen, as a video analyst with the German National Team setup, and is currently coaching full time in Sydney.

08.01.2022 Football NSW has published the fixtures for this weekend's NPL 3 NSW Men's semi-finals. Dunbar Rovers FC NPL will renew old rivalries with Sydney Uni Soccer Football Club when we take them on this Saturday in the U20 semi-final 1. Good luck to Christian and the boys. It should be a great game with a place in the Grand Final a week later up for grabs. Please note: COVID restrictions will still apply.

08.01.2022 This is great to see. Congrats to the Dunbar Rovers Juniors FC U18 Dev Squad and to coach Dylan Watson who is also doing a great job with our NPL Boys Youth U13 squad this season.

07.01.2022 Congratulations to Dunbar Rovers FC Men's Over 35s, who sealed the 2020 league title last night with a 1-0 win over Glebe Wanderers. Special shout out to new NPL Club TD Christian Soares, former players Clive Delaney, Mike Sealy & James Meyer, current NPL Boys Youth U15 head coach Tyrone Lara and architect of our NPL Boys Youth programme Danny Fee. Well done, boys!

07.01.2022 On July 18th 2018, Steve Corica made his Head Coach debut in Sydney FC's first pre-season trial game, which happened to be against Dunbar Rovers FC NPL at North Sydney Oval. Of course, the rest, as they say, is history, with "Bimby" going on to win the Hyundai A-League title, not only in 2018/19, but backing it up in 2019/20, adding the Premiers Plate to boot. To commemorate his first game in charge, our Club TD Christian Soares presented a small token of our respect for hi...s fantastic achievement, which we hope will take him back to his coaching debut. Two years later, we are pleased to announce that Christian's first game as our First Grade Head Coach happened to be against Sydney FC's A-League squad last Saturday afternoon at their training base in Macquarie Park, a game played behind closed doors due to Football Federation of Australia COVID restrictions. Saturday's meeting wasn't the first time these two have interacted. Christian trained with Corica when he trialled for Sydney FC for a month in the 2006/07 season. However, their manager at the time, former English international Terry Butcher, decided to go with former Middlesbrough star and fellow Brazilian Juninho. Funnily enough, he got himself into trouble by nutmegging Captain Mark Rudan twice in the one session, with Alex Brosque having to cool things down after Rudan accused him of a lack of respect! True story. Let's hope Christian can be half as successful in his first two seasons in charge and our club will be very happy :-) Please join us in wishing him the best.

05.01.2022 Dunbar Rovers FC NPL Under 20s secured a date at the Big Dance next weekend after a thrilling 2-1 semi-final victory over Sydney University, in a game which had everything. Perfect conditions greeted the teams as our League Champions came out of the blocks quickly playing enterprising attacking football. Cain Bartolomei (pictured right) was controlling the middle of the park and it was evident early that Reece Berelowitz (centre) was on song. The reward didn’t come until 7 mi...nutes from the break when Joh Sawa (left), who with some fine footwork, found a yard of space and drilled the ball into the back of the net for a fine individual goal that came out of nowhere. Nothing more than we deserved. 1-0 HT Just a few minutes into the second stanza and that man Berelowitz had the ground on its feet. He won the ball in a 50-50 tackle before racing past a defender and then beating another before expertly nestling the ball out of reach of the Uni keeper. A sublime piece of skill. They say that 2-0 is a dangerous scoreline and so it proved. We failed to deal adequately with a set piece from our left and our opponent snuck in at the far post to pull one back. 2-1. Uni had a good shout for a penalty turned down - maybe we were going to get that sliver of luck that deserted us last year at the same stage. More drama was yet to unfold. Again Berelowitz found himself on the end of a through ball. He was fouled by the last defender just outside the box which saw Uni reduced to 10 men. However, to their credit, this didn’t stop them from coming forward and with minutes remaining on the clock they somehow managed to spurn an excellent opportunity. The Dunbar faithful were grateful to hear the final whistle on a fantastic game of football played in great spirit. Congratulations to coaching staff Christian & Gene and well done to the players. On we march to the big occasion next week. Another great day out for the club and a chance for this team to win an U20 double, something the club has yet to achieve. Match report by #DUNBARTV. 03.01.2022 Football NSW have just announced that NSW Health have lifted the 'local hub' restrictions and the NPL Boys Youth competition will go into a modified Phase 2 mode, where we will play in Group 2, taking the results from Phase 1 into account on a points per game basis, due to not all games having been played because of COVID-19 restrictions. Dunbar Rovers FC NPL have been placed in a group of six, with the following strong clubs: Bankstown United FC, Dulwich Hill Football Club, ...Fraser Park FC, Granville Rage Football Club and Nepean FC. We will play each club once in U13 to U18 and the winner will be determined by the Youth Club Championship. It promises to be a very competitive series to round off the season. 03.01.2022 Thanks to all who braved the challenging conditions yesterday at Heffron Park Synthetic for Dunbar Rovers FC NPL fifth and final Boys NPL Youth Supplementary fixture against Hurstville ZFC. The results were as follows: U13: 1-1 draw U14: 1-0 win... U15: 0-0 draw U16: 6-1 win U18: 6-0 win Despite having the majority of possession, we failed to convert our chances in the morning games, something we rectified in the afternoon. We thank Zagreb for the games and wish them well for the rest of the season. Pics courtesy of U14 parent Honor Irvine.

02.01.2022 It gives us great pleasure to announce that Kieren Young has signed with our First Grade Men's squad for the 2021 NPL 3 NSW Men's season. Kieren, a local ESFA junior who came through the ranks of youth football starting with ESFA reps in the Metropolitan League, first joined Dunbar Rovers FC in 2017 from neighbours Hakoah FC and immediately won the U18 double that season. In 2020 he added the U20 league title to his honours list and it was little surprise to those of us at the club when he became one of the first players picked by new First Grade Head Coach Christian Soares. Kieren has a laid back style - nothing seems to phase him - but if his recent performances against Sydney FC have been anything to go by, he will be a formidable central defender for us in 2021 and beyond. Welcome back, Kieren!

01.01.2022 Another trial game for our Dunbar Rovers FC NPL First Grade squad when we travel to Arncliffe Park to take on Eastern Suburbs Football Association Premier League outfit Maroubra United Football Club on the new synthetic field tomorrow night (Fri Nov 13). Our Head Coach Christian Soares is at an advanced stage in his 2021 squad finalisation, so it should be a decent game with players looking to secure their spot. Kickoff will be 7pm.
