The Ervin gallery has changed their schedule and the Refusals are no longer on display. Therefore we will only visit the Gallery of NSW for the Archibald Competition and the Streeton Exhibition. It has been suggested that we buy tickets soon. This may be done online or by phone (136 246 - QTIX) but be prepared to wait. There is a small discount if you buy both exhibits together. Since we are expected to arrive by 11:30, I suggest you book the Archies between 12 and 2. If you would like help buying tickets, please contact Toby or comment here.

10.01.2022 **UPDATE ** - Trip to Archibald Prize & Streeton Exhibition ** 15 December: Due to some people changing their minds we now have 5 seats available on the bus. Come join us! All is progressing well with our trip to the Art Gallery of NSW to see the above exhibitions on Wednesday 6th January. We shall be leaving Dungog at 7:00am, departing from outside the gallery, proceeding via Clarence Town and Maitland to pick up passengers. There will be a refreshment stop along the way on ...the Motorway. We should arrive at the gallery around 11:00am. We will depart at 3:00pm with expected arrival back in Dungog at 7:00pm. There has been a change to the itinerary. It was originally suggested that after the viewing at the gallery, that we travel to the S.H. Erwin Gallery in the Rocks to view the Salon de Refuse for the Archibald. Unfortunately, this exhibition closed on 29th November so there is no point in going there. We feel that there is more than enough to keep us occupied at the Art Gallery of NSW with the two exhibitions, general displays, and a bite to eat at the café. We have 22 participants meaning the cost of the bus hire will be $50 per person. There have been a few withdrawals so there are 5 spare seats if you know someone who wants to come. We require a $20 deposit by 18th December. You can pay at the gallery or direct deposit to BSB 646 000 A/C 100073110 Reference: Bus - your surname. If you prefer you can pay the full bus fare of $50. If you have a friend coming along, who is not a member and therefore we do not have contact details, could you forward this email/letter on to them. The Archibald Prize and the Streeton Exhibition are ticketed events, and it is STRONGLY ADVISED to purchase your tickets prior to the day. Further, for the Archibald, you are required to nominate a time to enter. Entry times are on the hour and 15, 30, 45 minutes past the hour. There are no scheduled times to view the Streeton Exhibition, though tickets are required. There is a combined Archibald/Streeton ticket for $35 adult or $32 concession. NOTE, cash is not accepted at the gallery so if you have not pre-purchased, you will have to pay by card. You can book tickets at www.qtix.com.au or by phone on 136 246. If you do not have a card or are experiencing difficulties booking on line, please contact Toby 0428 630 214 or myself 0407 953 928. We feel it is imperative to pre book as nothing would be worse than to arrive on the day and find the exhibitions are sold out. See more

08.01.2022 Here are all the Archies entries. Come by the gallery by 18/9 to see them in person. They get better every year. Covid prevents us from celebrating the artists as we would like, but come in and vote for the viewer’s choice.

06.01.2022 Featured Artist: Toby Solomon. Toby moved to Dungog over 10 years ago without knowing anyone. The Art Society became her family. She joined because of a desire to learn to draw and was eventually persuaded to experiment with paints. Her main modality continues to be photography.

05.01.2022 Featured Artist: Michelle (Mich) Nickerson. Michelle has been sketching and painting all of her life. She draws what she loves - magpies and other Australian wildlife (having at times been a wildlife carer), dogs, horses and old buildings. She has just brought out a new set of Australian bird Christmas cards with including, of course, a magpie.

04.01.2022 Featured Artist: PILAR PATERSON Pilar’s extraordinary talent certainly is demonstrated in her varied works of art, painting, pottery and drawings.

03.01.2022 We have 2 featured artists this time: Walter (Jim) Turner and daughter, Simone Turner Ryan. Jim works in wood, creating wonderful pieces (I own 2 tables made by Jim). Simone is a well known realist artist. Her oil paintings and prints of her paintings, are very popular in Dungog and surrounds.

02.01.2022 Youth over 12 Isa Taylor Grandad

01.01.2022 Highly Commended: Cynthia Denning Pals
