25.01.2022 Selections - begin with the elements that tie a space together, flooring - its the grounding element and flows from room to room. Its look and feel often drives the overall aesthetic of a home. Then the remaining hard materials, its a layering process.. and a process that we love watching unfold

25.01.2022 We believe that design and construction isn't a two part process, rather it's the seamless integration of the two that leads to the best outcomes. Here's a look into how and why we do what we do.

17.01.2022 m o o d : raw yet refined #moodboarding

16.01.2022 One of the most common things I hear - "I know what I like but I don't know whether it's all going to work together or what it's going to look like" The 'seeing what something will look like when it's not there', I'll claim it as my super power. But here's a trade secret, it's not really a super power. I can help you see the big picture too, and what all the decisions will look like and feel like. So by the end of the design phase not only do you have a road map for your project, but you've also got yourself a new super power - #boom

13.01.2022 We originally purchased this house as a quick flip renovator. But we quickly fell in love with the block and decided that after years of renovating and building homes for our clientsit was finally time to tackle a project of our own. Every day this week we'll be revealing a room within the house and showing you the transformation of our family home!

13.01.2022 Episode one is here and it's kitchen reveal time! We're kicking off the #dunnehomereno series with everyone's favourite room - the kitchen! The kitchen is the heart of this home and was the launching pad for the entire Dunne home renovation. The original '80s home featured a pokey kitchen which we have transformed into a spacious family hub.

12.01.2022 Watching the light and leaving space for the walls to showcase the shadows - we get down to the details, because the difference is in the details

10.01.2022 With this renovation the original layout of all of the bedrooms in the house was pretty much perfect, they just needed a lot of cosmetic love! In the ensuite we show you how more is more when it comes to tile choices and a separate toilet sees our boldest tile choice yet!

09.01.2022 Wise words from my favourite new book This Is Home by Natalie Walton "a home is one of our most important creations. Within it's frame, we create lifelong memories and manage our lives. It's where we wake and set the tone for the rest of our day, as well as nourish our bodies. At the days end, we decompress, shed the layers of social complexities and maybe even lick our wounds... it's our most intimate space to feel" Creating a 'home' is so much more than just a collection of colours, surfaces and things, its about creating an expression of you and your family, creating something that makes you feel.

09.01.2022 This home is about living life to its fullest. In episode two we reveal not one but two living rooms and the Dunne homes best kept secret - the hidden bar! By moving the kitchen into the extension we’ve created an open plan living space which is perfect for family life.

09.01.2022 Contrast : It's my favourite thing to play with. My go to is linen on leather, there's a subtle earthy texture of the linen against the smooth surface of the leather. And they both get better with age (like all good things in life!!)

07.01.2022 Determining your interior design style isn't about seeing which box of a handful of predetermined stereotypes you fit into. Its about finding you. Which you probably can't sum up in a single word like 'hamptons' or 'mid century' Why? Because you're unique and so is your style. Don't feel pressured to narrow down your design muse to a predefined tick the box. Let it evolve, let it be a mix and merge of all the things that are uniquely you. I've shared the process I use to pull together a style on the blog this week - I'd love for you to try it out and even better, share the result - I'd love to see.

05.01.2022 The Block is back on our screens and the fever to take up renovating as your latest Sunday hobby is high. But it makes for a fairly expensive hobby if the timeline, budget or outcomes aren't met. I've put together a checklist that ticks off the 4 things you should know before embarking on any renovation or interior design project {grab a copy via the link in the comments} Number 1 on the list is determine your why. Are you renovating to sell, to increase functional space or is this your forever dream home? These 3 whys will have you walking very different reno paths - lets get you walking on the right one!

02.01.2022 refining : After all the ideas in the 'Concepts' phase there's the refinement. It's like a survival of the fittest, where only the ideas that are both functional and beautiful make the cut. After nutting it out on paper, I'm often masking taping onto walls or floors and walking through the concept again and again to make sure that it really works. There's a few final touches to be made on this concept, before the the boys come in and tear this place apart for us to build it back up again - equally exciting and nerve wracking - all the emotions when you renovate, we get them, because we live through them too when we work on our own projects. So we understand first hand what it's like, we'll guide you through it, hold your hand when you need it and make sure the process is just as enjoyable as the outcome

01.01.2022 A renovation can be like a yellow brick road of choices to get lost on. Clearly defined boundaries about what needs to be achieved and what constitutes a luxury for the project will keep you on track. My tip - create a wishlist, actually 3. The non negotiables High priorities If possibles Want more tips to keep your next project on track? Grab our #renochecklist in the comments below
