24.01.2022 Interesting to see how the City of Busselton's own regulations prescribe new developments be kept to unseen areas. How does that fit with 82 metres of road reserve along Caves Rd to be cleared for a chalet development?
22.01.2022 It was great to see so many Dunsborough people fired up about the growth issues at last night's Dunsborough2030 community meeting at the Country Club. On Sunday at 2pm, the second community meeting will be attended by CoB Mayor Grant Henley, Councillors Phil Cronin and Paul Carter as well as local MP Libby Mettam. We look forward to welcoming them to our town.
21.01.2022 Good news! With our September 23 community meeting over-booked (with a big waiting list) we’re organising a SECOND public meeting a few days later. Stay tuned, confirmed details in the next day or two....

20.01.2022 For our public meeting on September 23, we need a videographer to record the meeting and possibly even live stream it. We have $300 for the 90-minute job, is there anybody in town who'd be willing to do it for that price?
20.01.2022 Interesting document from the City of Busselton - just 5 years ago, the City officially adopted planning guidelines to protect the "special character" of Dunsborough, as the basis for "development controls" to "compliment the already established coastal environment"...and maintain "the very characteristics that have...made it a unique and special area." Do you think that stated policy is reflected in current and future developments?
19.01.2022 Yesterday's public meeting on Dunsborough's future was a great success, with an overwhelming majority show of hands in favour of getting involved in the planning and development process now, rather than waiting till the deals are done...and it's too late. Many thanks to mayor Grant Henley, deputy mayor Kelly Hick, councillors Paul Carter, Phil Cronin and Jo Barrett-Lennard and local MP Libby Mettam for listening to the concerns of the community. Now, a request: If you think YOU can help the campaign to retain Dunsborough's character, avoid urban sprawl, protect our unique environment - please follow the link and answer our two-question survey... https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZTTHH2F
14.01.2022 UPDATE: We've all been thinking that the Planning Commission is investigating 600 acres of farmland off Commonage Rd for future housing estates. We were wrong. It's actually nearly TWICE that, 1,100 acres. That's bigger than Kings Park! Find out more and have your say, there are still a few seats available at the PUBLIC MEETING 2pm on Sunday, September 27 at the Country Club. ... 14.01.2022 Press Release for tomorrow's Busselton Dunsborough Times:
14.01.2022 Latest media reports on the campaign...today's Busselton Dunsborough Times.
14.01.2022 We're completely full for tonight's Community Meeting at the Country Club to discuss the future of Dunsborough and its rapidly expanding population. BUT for those who can't attend, we'll attempt to Live Stream the meeting - depending on the reliability of the club's internet connection:-)
13.01.2022 One strategy the City of Busselton is considering, to accommodate Dunsborough's urban sprawl and tripling of population, is to reclaim the playing fields and fill them with more shops and offices. Your thoughts?

10.01.2022 PUBLIC MEETING...https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/is-it-wise-to-triple-dunsbo Dunsborough is set for a population explosion. Right now, officials in Perth and locally and planning for a huge increase in Dunsborough's population. Both the City of Busselton and the WA Planning Commission expect our town to more than triple in size, from about 6,000 now to as many as 24,000 people. ... That's just residents. Double or triple that in holidays. The planners have earmarked more than 600 acres of land east and south of Commonage Rd for vast new housing and industrial estates. If this concerns you - or even of you think "great, bring it on" - claim your seat at a public meeting at the Country Club on Wednesday, September 23. And find out exactly how authorities are planning to change our town forever. The playing fields, turned into offices and shops. Parking at our beaches even more crowded. Traffic lights. Choked roads. Launching a boat a nightmare. Our quiet, pedestrian friendly village, turned into another suburb, like Mandurah. This is what the planners call 'progress.' To get the facts and have your say, reserve your seat via Eventbrite for this vital public information session. https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/is-it-wise-to-triple-dunsbo See more

07.01.2022 Apologies to those who missed out. All 230 seats at the September 23 Public Meeting at the Country Club have been taken, five weeks before the event. Due to Covid restrictions, we aren't allowed to fit any more in, even though the club can take more. If those restrictions are eased, we will of course release more tickets. There IS a wait list, first in, best dressed if any of the seats become available, so please register for this here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/is-it-wise-to-triple-dunsbo
06.01.2022 More and more people who care about stopping Dunsborough becoming another over-developed urban sprawl like Mandurah or Byron Bay are opening their wallets and donating to the cause. Thank you! It's going to take a substantial amount of money - upwards of $100,000 - to commission professional environmental and tourism impact reports to convince the authorities that doubling or tripling the population will cause serious damage. Please share and spread the word. Every dollar counts! https://www.gofundme.com/f/dunsborough2030-keeping-dunsboro
06.01.2022 Just FIVE seats left for the public meeting at 2pm on Sunday September 27. Once it's full, we can't allow any more due to Covid restrictions. Grab one of the last remaining sets here https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/is-it-wise-to-triple-dunsbo
04.01.2022 Our public meeting on September 23 is full (230 residents), with more on the wait list...but that doesn't stop Dunsborough people registering their over-population concerns in the press. These letters, from Bill Franssen and Frank o'Bear, prominent in the Opinion page of today's Mail...
04.01.2022 220 people now registered for this event... only 10 seats left. Due to Covid restrictions, we can't fit any more than 230 into the Country Club, so if you'd like to be part of this event, please register now. When all seats are taken, there'll be a waitlist.
04.01.2022 More from last night's meeting - big crowd! And majority support for proposals to influence the planning decisions for our town and region NOW, rather than wait till the planners and authorities tell us what THEY have decided for us...
03.01.2022 80m of Caves Rd trees to go, along with endangered species habitat. Eighty metres of trees along Caves road will be axed as a result of a decision taken Friday by the Development Assessment Panel (DAP). The state body, that includes councillors Henley and Carter decided unanimously to approve a 58 chalet holiday development between Country Life Farm and Cape Villas. The trees will go to make way for a turning lane into the development. The development will involve the destru...ction of 75% of the habitat of the critically endangered western ringtail possum and 68% of the critically endangered Baudin’s cockatoo habitat. Two possums were found in the trees along Caves Road. The DPA argued that the development be sent to both state and federal departments of environment for assessment. If it gets approval, the group suggested the road be moved a few meets to the south on to gravel verge on the opposite side of the road in order to save the trees. The owner, who is the CEO of Tamala Park Regional Council and a member of a Perth DAP said it would be too expensive but then confirmed he didn’t know what it would cost. The owner surprised the panel by saying he has already submitted the development to the Federal Department of the Environment to determine whether it needs assessment under the environmental protection act. The public will have a chance to comment, if it catches the 10 day window. Because the panel gave the development the nod, it gets an exemption loophole and will not require state assessment for land clearance. After the decision Mayor Henley praised the development saying it will provide needed diversity of accommodation. The development is counter to the City’s policy regarding visible development along that stretch of Caves Road and the panel made a condition that the developer plant a screen where the trees will be removed.
03.01.2022 So what's it to be, Mayor Grant Henley? In this morning's Mail, he's accusing Dunsborough people of spreading "misinformation" about our town's population growth and plans for "8,000 more houses" and "15,000 more residents" as being plain wrong. Is this the same mayor who only two years ago told The West Australian that Dunsborough can expect to grow to 18,000 to 24,000 residents in the next 10-15 years?
03.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS... Registrations for a SECOND community meeting, 2pm on Sunday September 27 are now open! Our first meeting on September 23 is over-booked. If you'd like to attend on the 27th, please reserve your seat(s) here: PLEASE NOTE: due to Covid, seats are strictly limited to 180!
03.01.2022 More than 40 of those who attended the community meeting on Wednesday have volunteered to help in various ways in the campaign to preserve Dunsborough's character amid predicted huge population growth. If you think you can contribute, please go ahead and answer our two-question survey....
02.01.2022 Still NINE seats left for today's Community Meeting....grab one or two now and we'll see you at the Country Club for a 2pm start. Mayor Grant Henley, and councillors Paul Carter, Phil Cronin and Jo Barrett-Lennard will be there.
02.01.2022 Is this a sign of things to come for Dunsborough? Seems it's already too late to save Byron Bay from over-development...
