14.01.2022 We would like to reassure you that the Dunsborough Veterinary Hospital continues to remain open during the current COVID-19 pandemic and that we are continually monitoring the situation on a daily basis. Our main focus is to keep both you and our staff safe whilst still caring for your pets. To this end we have instituted several policies to try to keep us all healthy. If you are in home quarantine/self-isolation or wish to minimize your contact, we can work with you to find... new ways to provide a service to you and your animals which includes: Carpark service to collect food and repeat medications. Pre-payment can be organized or contactless EFTPOS/Credit Card will be available at your car. If you are isolated at home we can offer a complimentary drop off service for food, over the counter products or repeat medications where possible. Video consultations where we deem them appropriate. Contactless drop offs/pick-ups for your pet if they need to be examined or admitted to hospital and you are either in self isolation or unwell. If you are still able to visit the veterinary hospital, please be comforted by the fact that we are regularly disinfecting the hospital with particular attention to our common areas such as the waiting room and reception area. We will continue to take steps to minimize human traffic in these areas and thus reduce your risk of community transmission. We ask that you also contribute to this by having only one person attend the hospital where possible and to practice social distancing when here. We are asking clients who are unwell with any form of respiratory disease, those who have returned from overseas in the previous 2 weeks, or those whove recently had contact with a COVID-19 positive person not to enter the hospital. Please be comforted by the fact that if this is the case we are fully prepared and happy to provide you and your pet with veterinary services, but will do so in a safe manner as described above. 12.01.2022 ALERT IMPORTANT DOG SAFETY WARNING To all dog users of Quindalup and nearby beaches please note that there have been 2 unexpected and rapid deaths of young healthy dogs at Quindalup beach in the past 36hours. There were no clinical signs consistent with mischievous bating and it appears consistent with a natural toxin present in some sea creatures. In both cases the dogs were off leash but being responsibly supervised by their owners. The clinical signs of progressive and... rapid paralysis leading to death were sudden consistent with tetrodotoxin (blue ringed octopus, sea slug, blow fish, some other sea-life). The dogs died within 90 mintues of appearing well and may also have vomited prior to passing. In the interests of our community we are publicising this and hope that all dog owners will take special care. Please refrain from any unhelpful commentary as both owners are very distressed. In both cases each dog was in a designated off-leash dog area.
