Dunja Lavrova, our centre’s creator, explains her view on why it is so important to develop a positive relationship with discomfort when it comes to learning new skills, having new experiences or even learning new music during your music practice - by drawing parallels between positive mindset, cognitive development, trauma attachment, transactional analysis, attachment types and negative self-talk.

01.01.2022 IT ALL STARTS WITH ONE STEP AT A TIME The journey to healing, recovery & self-improvement starts with little things: making your bed when you get up, tidying your personal space, making a gratitude list in the evening - or doing a simple morning meditation! Making a massive list of new habits and trying to make the changes you want to make in your life all at once can feel overwhelming and sometimes impossible to keep up with. This often results in disappointment, resentm...ent, fluster & giving up on it all! Our advice is to start small and to keep a check list of positive habits which you can tick off in the evening, once they’re all completed. As you get more comfortable with sustaining new positive habits (as simple as they must be at first), you can add more powerful positive tools and habits to your list : one-by-one. We believe this is the best way for integrating positive habits into your life, whilst steadily expanding, evolving and growing towards your full potential! Having said all that, if you want to make real, drastic changes in your life - don’t let yourself get lazy, complacent or too comfortable. Find comfort in your discomfort and keep pushing towards your goals and dreams! Discomfort and the shedding of our old, useless skin and negative habits is where the real magic of self-improvement sits! The first step in this approach is to become aware of our limitations and strengths and choose which changes we want to make according to that awareness. Because NOTHING changes if we live within our limits, sometimes making the biggest and hardest change as the first step can be the best thing you can do for yourself - then everything else you want to adopt will fall into place one-by-one. Remember, you are stronger than you think!
