20.01.2022 God, this Good Friday morning we come to you in prayer. Good Friday must have seemed like the most terrible day to the disciples. They had heard you claim to be the Messiah, the one who saves, and they expected you to save them. Yet on that day, you died. You died a horrible, degrading, political death. All their hope must have gone. They must have been bewildered. Everything they thought was going to happen, all their hopes for the future had just evaporated. But Father God,... this was part of your plan. You knew it was going to happen. Jesus, you pleaded that it might not, but it did. Yet you knew the next part. You knew that after being agonisingly separated from your father, you would come back to life. At the moment, our lives have changed too, in ways we couldn’t have imagined. We have struggled through the drought, then the fires, only to now have the spectre of coronavirus. We are physically isolated due to lockdown, with some being more isolated than others. Some have had their plans for the year totally turned upside-down. Some have no work. For others, the changes have not had so much difference to their daily lives, except that we cannot meet together as friends or family or as a congregation. And yet, in all this, once again you have a plan. Like the disciples, we don’t know what it is. Like the disciples, we cannot imagine life on the other side. And like the disciples, we need your saving love, and your saving grace. We pray for your goodness to shine through these times in ways we cannot imagine. We ask that you will provide for people. We ask that you will help us to live the lives you want us to live, and show your love to others in creative ways. We ask for hope. We ask for faith. On Good Friday there was despair. But on Easter Sunday there was amazement, rejoicing and elation. You triumphed over death when Jesus rose again. Jesus, we thank you that through your death, you triumphed over sin, and you made a way for us to be right with you. Father God, we praise you. We thank you. Thank you that in your sight, we are now blameless, because Jesus as the ultimate sacrificial lamb has taken our sins. We thank you for the new life we have. We thank you for the words of John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. We thank you for this eternal life. We pray all this in your name. Amen. A prayer for Good Friday by Yvette Stanton

18.01.2022 Please feel welcome to join us for an evening of Christmas Carols, Friday 22nd December, 7pm, as we remember Jesus Christ's birth.

14.01.2022 Heavenly Father, Thank you so much for your sacrifice for us. The death of Jesus on the cross must have been so hard for you to bear, but you did it for us. And today we celebrate Jesus rising from the dead and triumphing over death and sin. You’re amazing. We praise you for your grace and mercy towards us. Thank you, that through Jesus’ death we can have new life. As the bible says in 1 John 5:12 He who has the son has life. He who does not have the son, does not have life.... God we want to be people who have life. We want to accept your gift of grace towards us. The hope of new life is something that we are so grateful for. For us, whose lives are so different at the moment to what they have been, the hope of new life is tantalising. Our world is in a time of great turmoil at the moment. We pray earnestly that this might be a time when many people take stock of their lives and realise that you have been missing from their lives. Not that you’ve been missing, but that they’ve been missing you. And we see that this is an opportunity that you’ve presented the church with. We ask that those who haven’t been to church in a long time, or maybe ever, will find their way to an online or televised church service. We pray that you will show yourself to them. We ask that their searching hearts and minds will find you. We pray for the leaders and health officials around the world who are having to make huge decisions of how to care for people. We pray that you will give them wisdom. We ask that they will consider the least amongst us as they make their decisions - the poor, the destitute, and the downtrodden. Please may the decisions made by those in power not be about power, but about grace and mercy. Please may they put aside egos and partisanship, and act in the interests of others. We pray for those who are struggling. We pray for those who have lost jobs and had downturns in their work. We ask that you will provide. For those who are worried about their health and their future livelihood, we ask that you will provide. For those who are unwell, please heal them, whether it is coronavirus or some other illness, because even though the virus is a current crisis, there are many others with existing or other illnesses and conditions. We remind ourselves how you have cared for us in the past. You have been faithful. And we see examples of your faithfulness to your people in the bible. We know that you are a faithful God. Even though everything may change around us, you do not, and nothing can separate us from your love. And so on this Easter Sunday, as we celebrate you being alive again, triumphing over death and triumphing over sin, we ask that you will triumph in our lives too. We praise you and thank you that you are our omnipotent God. We pray all these things in your name, Amen. A prayer for Sunday prayed by Yvette Stanton

12.01.2022 This link is to an address by Campbell Markham at the launch for the Coalition for Marriage in Tasmania. The final paragraph: "Do not fear. Pray, and tell people about Jesus with courage, passion, and compassion. And when you are opposed, let your peace and joy be seen. Knowing that you walk in the footsteps of Jesus, and with the presence of Jesus, God’s Son, and the Saviour of the World." http://campbellmarkham1970.blogspot.com.au//theres-never-b
