18.01.2022 Heart disease is the number one cause of death in Australia, but the burden of disease disproportionately affects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in Australia. To address that issue for the people of Kempsey, A/Prof Kevin Alford (cardiologist) and Karen Hillcoat (senior cardiac sonographer), since 2016, have been traveling once a month from Port Macquarie to D...urri. They have assisted in developing, together with Durri staff including Sue (Co-Ordinator Chronic Disease CNC) and Priscilla (AHW Chronic Disease), what is arguably one of the largest and most successful clinics in the country. Having such an experienced team assessing patients in Kempsey saves them traveling long distances to receive specialist treatment, including having an ultrasound scan of their heart if necessary. This will provide valuable assistance in viewing the structure of the heart in a non-invasive way, and assist greatly in providing the appropriate diagnosis and best treatment. 17.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT We would like to advise our mob that Corporate Services (Finance Department) has moved to the old Argus building at 72 Elbow Street, Kempsey. You will find it next to Centrelink. All other services will remain the same at the moment at the Durri building at 15-19 York Lane, Kempsey on (02) 6560 2300. ... Tracy Bradshaw (ITC Coordinator) will remain at the York Lane building each day from 8:45am to 1:00pm on (02) 6560 2300. She will then be available in the afternoon at 72 Elbow Street from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on (02) 6560 2388. All petrol vouchers are to be collected from the Durri building at 15-19 York Lane, Kempsey. We also wish to advise that phone lines are currently down at Elbow Street. We are working on this and will let you know when they are back up and running again.
