22.01.2022 This was yesterday, we went for what could be one last look. We try and document all the old trees to give the pictures to our grandchildren. A ten year transit...ion out of native forest logging wont save this beautiful gully or its ancient trees, because Vicforests tape has already gone up. We've seen lyrebirds and greater gliders and heard songs of daytime birds and night-time micro bats. This live gully feeds the the Mitchell River and the Gippsland Lakes and and is a lifeboat for anything that lives in and around trees. This is the Mt Alfred State Forest, 20 kms north of Bairnsdale and your taxes are subsidising its removal for pulp. See more

Well Victoria is about to go to a local government election. Every candidate that runs gets a 300 word statement posted to every voter in their ward. Given it costs only $250 to run, the 300 hundred words offers an amazing opportunity to tell all Victorians about the climate emergency, why we need emergency action now, and how councils can help! The majority of Australians are yet to wake up to the true threat of global warming. These 300 words can help wake them. What can I do? If you are enrolled to vote, you can run for your local ward. If you do this you can send 300 words talking about the climate emergency and its solutions to every voter in your ward! Why now? The world is burning now, species are going extinct now, food systems are starting to collapse now, storms and floods are smashing people's lives now, and the sea is rising now. We now need to get our governments to undertake an emergency mobilisation to reverse global warming, but we don't have another 10 or 12 years to waste before they act. The more we talk about it the sooner it will happen, if we don't talk about it nothing will happen. It is as simple as that. These 300 words is an opportunity too good to be wasted. What do we need? We need someone to stand up in every ward in the state calling for an emergency mobilisation. If you are reading this, that person is you. What do I need to do now?
