19.01.2022 Brownsmithing Since we have been splitting timber on the weekends we have met some really interesting people, one being a young guy that makes forges (Alpha Wolf Forges). This is something the kids have been very interested in doing and through their great bartering skill, they managed to barter some stumps for an awesome forge. This afternoon we had a go at forging. We use the anvil that is over a 100 years old, belonging to their great grandad Robert Brown. He use to fix p...eoples crowbars and make lots of tools and bolts for himself. When travelling around he would carry a drum that he would put lumps of coal that he found into. It was great to see it being used again with such pride and joy. The kids had a ball, by the time they are finished they will muscles the size of Thor. They have a new found respect for blacksmithing - its bloody hard work but lots of fun xx See more

17.01.2022 We are selling our beautiful cottage called Tres Tine. Tres Tine means royal antler, the third branch on a deers antler. Our cottage is built around royalty, we have focused on the 3 branches. First branch - The roofing and cladding was sourced from the Woodford prison, formally known as the HM Prison.... Second branch - The windows have the carving HMS, we believe from a ship. Third branch- The internal wall was sourced from the Military Jetty at Golden beach Caloundra built in WWII, when they revamped it. The bathroom The vanity was handmade with the original tapeware, we used an old horseshoe for the door handle leading into the bathroom and a barn slider for the door. The living area The internal wall is made up of sleepers from the WWII Military Jetty at Golden beach Caloundra. The kitchen vanity was also handmade and the sink has a built in chopping block that is also a cover over the sink. The windows are very special to us as they are not perfect and ooze character, they dont have glass in them but a Perspex material. On one of the windows in has the carving HMS. We have never seen this before. The deer antler has been sourced naturally as we walk around our family property. They are beautiful animals as they rut horns around the ponded pasture. Tres Tine Cottage has a very homely and loving feel to it and we have put a lot of love and time into making it special. We love to recycle and find old items and materials that have meaning and history. Every part of Tres Tine has a story and that is important when we built our tiny house, to make it one of a kind. Please pm us for more details and photos. Also please share if you can. Thank you xx

08.01.2022 WhAt DiD wE dO tOdAy Morning of paperwork , then outside to build our roof for our pizza oven. We used an old tank (from our neighbour, as part of a barter deal)as the roof and some old cattle yard post from our beautiful grandparents farm. They had been cut by hand many years ago. We use things that have special meaning and cherished memories to us. We only came away with a few injuries today- split tongue, skin off, a huge bruise and teeth through lip. ... All in a hard days work. Wouldnt change it for the world. See more
