22.01.2022 Do you have a LinkedIn profile? Is it working for you? Here are a few tips for your LinkedIn Profile 1. Professionally Taken Profile Picture... Your LinkedIn profile is your digital introduction and first impression with your reader. It is important to look your best and a remember this is not Facebook. 2. Compelling Headline Your LinkedIn Headline is very much like a headline in a newspaper. It should grab your readers attention and compel them to READ MORE! Do not just use your Job title and company... instead, inject your keywords and the results you offer. You have 120 characters including spaces etc to create your headline. Before: Account Executive at Widgets, Inc After: Account Executive New Business Development Providing Unique Widget Solutions 3. Over 300 Connections, aim for 500+In order to truly leverage LinkedIn, it;is important to have a strong LinkedIn network with many first degree connections. 4. Customized URL Your public profile address is the direct link to your LinkedIn profile. By customizing the URL with your name, you are able to add it to your email signature, resume, cover letter, letterhead, business card, and marketing literature. 5. Contact Info is important to tell your reader how to reach you. How many opportunities are you missing because you did not include your contact information? Opportunity cannot knock if it does not know what door to knock on! Include phone and email. 6. Engaging Summary Your LinkedIn Summary needs to POP! This is your chance to demonstrate to the world that you are an expert and someone who deserves to be noticed! This is where you sell yourself and showcase your accomplishments. DO NOT COPY AND PASTE YOUR RESUME HERE! While it is good to synchronise your resume content you must change it from 3rd person to 1st person and tell your story. Do not forget you can include media content as well. You have 2000 characters to use for your summary. 7. Clear Call to Action Make sure you tell your reader what to do! Give them a clear call to action so when they finish reading your Summary, they know to pick up the phone and call you or email you or connect with you on LinkedIn. 8. Complete Experiences A POWERFUL LinkedIn profile includes your past experiences.Make sure you summarize the company, your responsibilities and highlight a few key accomplishments from your time working there. You have 2,000 characters to use. 9. 50 Skills & Expertise with Endorsements By including keywords that people are using to find someone like you, you are ensuring that your LinkedIn profile performs well in search and that YOU WILL BE FOUND. 10. Recommendations Recommendations are a great way to get noticed while having someone else talk about how wonderful you are. Powerful LinkedIn profiles have up to date, recommendations from high level professionals. 11. 50 Groups Group are a great way to easily expand your LinkedIn network. You see Group members are added as 3rd degree connections to your LinkedIn network. 12. Projects You can include any projects you have done / doing with other people and include them with links to the LinkedIn profile.
