22.01.2022 Another tutoring year is coming to an end this week at Early Years Tutoring! As a classroom teacher I always appreciated the lovely little gifts given to me at the end of the year. But what I really appreciated even more was a handwritten card from parents thanking me for guiding and teaching their child for the year. One such card ( with a beautiful bunch of flowers) arrived this week from a parent of a lovely Year 6 student who has blossomed with confidence in Maths and Sp...elling in her classroom this year. It reminded me of the reason I continue to love teaching young students. It read: ' Thankyou so much for everything you have done for ... She has improved beyond anything we expected.' This is why I do what I do! If your child is needing support in Literacy and Numeracy there are still a few sessions available for the Christmas Holiday Intensive Programme from the 6th - 15th January 2021 and also a few sessions still available for weekly sessions in 2021. Call me, let's chat! Jo 0407487355

21.01.2022 CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS INTENSIVE TUTORING PROGRAMME EARLY JANUARY 2021!! The 2020 school year has been such a difficult one for so many students (and parents) so I am very pleased to announce the 2021 Early Years Intensive Tutoring Programme is open for bookings. This very successful Christmas Holiday Tutoring Programme will be from 6th-15th January (maximum 8 sessions over 2 weeks). An Early Years Tutoring Programme always begins with a comprehensive assessment (at a reduced pric...e for the Intensive Programme) followed by consecutive sessions (maximum of eight) which could enhance or extend your child's Literacy/ Numeracy knowledge or simply help to determine where your child's Literacy/Numeracy development is (or where the gaps are) as they begin the new school year. There is also no obligation to continue weekly sessions during the term but this Programme can be a great introduction to further tutoring and to get to know each other! Early Years Tutoring takes place in a quiet home, following all the current rules (as set out by the Health Department NSW) of cleanliness and social distancing Let's get your Early Years/ Primary school aged child ahead or back on track in Literacy and Numeracy (or both) before the start of the 2021 school year. All enquiries welcome. Let's chat! Jo.

Hard to believe there only 4 days left- we have been so busy reading, writing, counting, getting to know each other and having fun - that the time has just flown! The new 2020 school year will soon be upon us too before we know it! ... If you feel your child would benefit from some weekly one on one tutoring sessions for literacy, numeracy (or both) as their end of year report indicated they may have fallen behind a little in class or just need a boost in confidence, then please give me a call! I'm always happy to chat about your concerns and discuss how we can help your child to succeed with confidence! Talk soon. Jo

15.01.2022 Wow it's hard to believe that we have rolled into the 2021 school year already!! I hope all my families (and future families) have had a restful holiday break and are ready for a busy year to come. Here at Early Years Tutoring we have been very busy during the holiday period with our popular and successful 8 day Intensive Programme and extra sessions for the weekly students to help them continue their learning and prepare for the new school year. 09.01.2022 WHY I LOVE TO TEACH Kind, caring, tall, funny, interesting- these are just some of the words that describe my preschool teacher and the person who originally influenced me to become a teacher. When work experience was offered at high school I thoroughly enjoyed working in a preschool and I knew it was what I wanted to do as a career.... However, family members had decided that it would be beneficial to have an accountant in the family......although that wasn't exactly what I had in mind for my future career! Thank goodness my Dad and Mum supported me and knew that I needed to study whatever it was that would make me happy- and that was teaching! I had a particular interest in teaching young children and the closest course in Early Childhood Education took me far away from home, on my own and just 17. However it was 4 of the best years of my life. Most of the students would go home on weekends, long weekends, etc, but I was so far away from home I stayed in the college with a small group of people. We had so much fun and became really good friends. Teaching Experience took me to the western, eastern and outer suburbs of Sydney, Dubbo and Albury. I enjoyed them all! After graduation I was convinced that working in a preschool would be my best option. However, after a short stint at home working as a relief teacher in a primary school, I was given the opportunity to work full time in a little country school in the Riverina. I absolutely loved the primary school environment and discovered my love for teaching Kindergarten. This vital year of transition was an inspiration to me- watching and listening as the the world of learning opened up to children was amazing. For some children however the first year at school was a struggle ( for many reasons) so when I moved back to Albury I decided to train as a Reading Recovery teacher and further develop my skills in literacy. My Reading Recovery tutor was a dynamic lady and I enjoyed every day of my 2 years of training. During this time I realised how much I loved being one one one with students and how this time made such a difference to their learning. After going back to the classroom and teaching mostly in Kindergarten for the next 15 years I have made the transition to tutoring one on one with students who are struggling in literacy ( my specialty) and numeracy. Early Years Tutoring is a culmination of all my 30 years of experience and offers your child the one on one, quiet, focused, attention they need and deserve to move forward with their learning. Let's chat soon. Jo 0407 487 355

09.01.2022 Pencils, markers, whiteboards, desk, chair all cleaned , sanitizer front and centre, individual student Programme organised , all is ready for my next student! This is our 'normal' routine now at Early Years Tutoring as each student walks in. It has amazed me how quickly the students have learnt to sanitizer their hands before starting- most without me asking, as they are so used to doing it all day at school! If you would like some confidence building, quiet and clean tu...toring for your child's Literacy or Numeracy development here at Early Years Tutoring these sessions on Thursday are still available- 3.30-4.30 and 4.30-5.30! Please contact me as soon as you can- all enquiries are welcome! Jo Early Years Tutor. https://www.facebook.com/earlyyearstutoring/

08.01.2022 Are you unsure about where your child's Literacy or Numeracy development is at this year? An assessment here at Early Years Tutoring by an independent, honest, experienced tutor with no obligation to continue to weekly sessions (but having the option to do so) could be your answer.... Early Years Tutoring takes place in a quiet home, following all the current rules (as set out by the Health Department NSW) of cleanliness and social distancing. All enquiries are welcome! Let's chat! Jo.

07.01.2022 CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS INTENSIVE TUTORING Early Years Tutoring introduced this programme a couple of years ago and it has proved to be a wonderful way to introduce your child to tutoring (and the tutor) or accelerate your child's literacy or numeracy development before the new school year begins. The programme runs from January 6th to January 17th 2020 and it is your choice to book in for one week or two! Limited places- book now! All enquiries are welcome. Jo 0407487355

06.01.2022 E v e r y C h i l d C a n L E A R N!!!!! Why do we get great results here at Early Years Tutoring Albury? It is my passion to find out why a child is falling behind in Literacy or Numeracy and then devise an individual programme that gives each child one on one attention with a qualified ( I have been a primary school teacher for 30+ years!) experienced specialist, for at least one hour per week to address the problems they are having with their reading, writing and numbe...rs! Bookings now open for Term One 2020. Parents have also found the CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS INTENSIVE PROGRAMME a great introduction to tutoring for their children. This programme, run over two weeks in early January 2020, is very popular and many parents have then booked in for further tutoring in the Standard Weekly Programme . 05.01.2022 I love the way I have set up my tutoring space. Parents have a lovely comfy couch to recline on while my students and I sit up at a desk and work very hard for an hour. It is very satisfying when I see the parents reading (I have magazines, books, picture books available to read) during the session. There is one particular dad who brings in his son, who I suspect does not have very much time to read during the week but he loves reading the children's books here- especially non fiction books! What a wonderful role model for his son- every parent should show their children how important and enjoyable reading is- and not just on screens, real books! Jo. Early Years Tutoring 0407487355

04.01.2022 W H Y I D O W H A T I D O Working in a classroom setting over 30 + years has been enjoyable and incredibly fulfilling. The best part.....that would have to be when I realised I had a special talent, unique skills and a knack for a taking on the challenge of assisting children with literacy and numeracy, particularly those who have fallen through the cracks, lost their way and in deed their confidence. This is why I do what I do! ... I can connect, I can work on a level that makes a difference, I take my students right back to where they CAN succeed. Once we establish a glimmer of success, confidence grows and it is NOW that the work can begin. And this is truly magical, it always amazes me and I feel incredibly excited for my delightful little students when 'light bulb has gone on'. Brilliant! This is why I do what I do! Confidence is everything. If you can recognise that your Primary School aged child is struggling and perhaps not engaged in the classroom I welcome you to call me and we can have a chat. One on one tutoring really works, what I do really works and I would just love it to work for you and your child too. Early Years Tutoring are located in central Albury. Bookings for weekly sessions for Term One 2020 and the Christmas Holiday Intensive Programme 2012 are now open! All enquiries welcome! Let's chat soon. Jo 0407 487 355

03.01.2022 Master D completed his Intensive Programme here at Early Years Tutoring recently. He came to me as a lovely, quiet, unconfident little boy at the beginning of the programme then blossomed into a lovely, comfortable, more confident little boy at the end. The benefits of having consecutive lessons where knowledge and confidence are built upon each day is extraordinary. Every parent ( who has been sitting on the comfy couch listening to the sessions each day) make the same comme...nt at the end of their child's Intensive Programme, "Wow! I can't believe how much my child has learnt and how much their confidence has improved!" Master D is now coming to Early Years Tutoring for 2 consecutive sessions per week to build on his confidence and knowledge. Fantastic! I can't wait to get going! I'm happy to discuss and organise other intensive weeks during the holiday breaks this year if you think this would benefit your child In the meantime Weekly session will commence when school returns in a couple of weeks. If you think some tutoring would benefit your child this year please do it NOW- it is always better to intervene early, find out where the gaps are (in their Literacy or Numeracy development ) and try to fill those gaps! I still have a few after school times available (also Saturday mid morning), but you will need to contact me as soon as possible to secure your preferred time! Let's chat soon. Jo 0407487355

02.01.2022 One of my favourite weeks of the school year during my 30 years in the classroom was Book Week. I loved collecting all the books, reading them to the students and exploring each and every one of them! At least a week before the Book Council announced the winner of the Book of the Year we would have a vote to award our favourite. The anticipation and fun we experienced during these weeks was a fantastic motivator for literacy growth in the classroom. Inspire your children at h...ome too and read, read, read (remember your local library is a wonderful resource). If the world of reading isn't developing in your child, then you may be requiring some specialised tutoring. This is my area of expertise so feel free to contact me to discuss tutoring for your child. Chat soon.Jo 0407 487 355

02.01.2022 As a wintery Term 3 comes to a close and a warmer spring holiday approaches here at Early Years Tutoring students are being assessed and happily booked in again for Term 4. I have also recently assessed a new, friendly little boy who is now coming for sessions for the rest of the year to boost his confidence and help him become an independent reader and writer. I was touched to receive a message from his mother the day after his assessment, "Hi Jo I would just like to thank y...ou for the session yesterday. You did a fantastic job with him, when we got home he still wanted to sit down and learn. That’s the first time I have seen him excited about learning which put a smile on my face. It's great to see that change just with one session. I feel it’s a big start to have him want to learn. We will see you next week!" This reminded me of my 30+ years teaching in Early Years classrooms. My number one objective was that every student was happy and excited to come to school EVERYDAY! Happy students meant a willingness to listen, try, make mistakes and try again- true and effective learning! If your child needs help before the year finishes contact me now so we can get started- there are a few sessions still valuable! Chat soon. Jo. 0407487355 See more
