24.01.2022 Be Beach Safe We've noticed a large number of people from ours and other hostels starting to head down to the local beaches. Well why not, the weather has been amazing. We recommend downloading the "beachsafe" app for the latest information and tips on staying safe, and recommend only go to patrolled beaches. Below is some information on patrolled beaches. Kellys beach Sat-Sun only at the moment, manned by lifeguards Sat and Sun (9am-5pm). From 21st Sept for the duration of t...he school holidays Kellys, Moore Park, Nielson, Elliot Heads beaches plus others will be manned 7 days a week. Then when school holidays finish only Kellys will be manned 7 days a week through to next year (6th May 2020). Other beaches will be manned weekends only except during school holidays. Some of the volunteer manned beaches may have slightly reduced hours, mainly on a Saturday. Download the beachsafe app for up-to-date manning on any given day or visit the Queensland Lifesaving website. Remember, drink lots and lots of water and apply sunscreen every couple of hours or you may rule yourself out of work for several days with either heat-stroke, sunburn or dehydration. See more

09.01.2022 Haven't posted any hostel party photos this year, so here's a combined set from Australia Day and our Police & Villains ones. Sergeant Meg Owens, Crime Manager from Queensland Police Service (Bundaberg) dropped over to promote a recent initiative by QPS. She was distributing Educational Bag Tags, incorporating safety messages and key contacts for working tourists. She runs the Working Tourist Safety Forum every 6 weeks, that include hostels, Bundaberg Regional Council, Workplace Health & Safety, Border Force, Queensland Life Saving, amongst others, to distribute the latest information on things impacting our international workforce that visit Bundaberg.

09.01.2022 Rare event, finally got to ascend the east water tower, 8 stories, giving a birds eye view of the hostel and surrounds. Beautiful old timbers and brickwork in this iconic building that forms part the history of Bundaberg since it was first established as a township in 1867, and is now the centre for the strongest small-crops growing region in the country, producing over 25% of Australia's fresh produce.

05.01.2022 Received this card 29th Nov 2019, hand-delivered by a lovely lady who lives in the area. She saw some of our backpackers outside the front of the hostel sweaty and covered in dirt but still laughing and smiling. She said we need the backpackers here and wanted to give them a card in appreciation. Lovely that someone would take time out of their day to perform such a gesture. Our international workers have already made mention how much they appreciate her words. Kudos peoples .

Bargara FC is looking for 2-3 players(backpackers) with football experience in midfield and strikers to play in the Wide Bay Mens Div 1 comp commencing now through to September. Would suit anyone coming to do their 6-month farm work stint for their 3rd year visa.
