17.01.2022 ROUND 11 REVIEW 1st XI Matthew Bremner and Matthew Vaiano looked like setting up another winning total as the score reached 1/80. But when Sparky went for 32 and Brem followed for 35 there wasn't much contribution from the rest of the side as we were bowled out for 128 in the final over of the innings. Sparky took early wickets and gave them nothing on his way to figures of 2/9 from 8 overs. The rest of our bowlers kept the pressure on, Mont Albert taking their time to get to...Continue reading

10.01.2022 ROUND 10 REVIEW 1st XI The 1s had a tricky run chase after bowling Heathmont out for 154. Riley Jones made the most of his return to the side taking 3/20 while Shaun Morris continued his good form with 3/28. Rob Sayer and Matthew Bremner each picked up 2 wickets. Rob Sayer top scored with 35 but wickets kept falling as things began to get tight. At 7/149 we were looking good but 2 wickets in 2 balls caused drama as Josh Bourke joined Kyle Hoath at the crease needing another 6... runs for victory. A JB cover drive and some desperate running between the wickets got us home to win with an over to spare! 2nd XI Coming off a win last week, the 2s started well led by Adam Chan who bowled beautifully for his 2/12 off 8 overs. Daniel Duncan managed 2/40 but a poor day in the field let Ashwood off the hook and they got to 8/166 from their 40 overs. Skipper Mark Thompson had a crack at opening the batting and led the way with 31 while Peter Jordan managed 29. It wasn't enough as we fell short, bowled out for 136. 3rd XI Scott Maizels took 3/33 from his 9 overs as the 3s took on Monash University. A good bowling performance restricted their score to 9/139 and the boys were confident of getting the points. The future of the club was on display for all to see as Jayden Oakley anchored the innings with an outstanding knock of 58no, well supported by Mitch Duncan who made 35. We lost just 2 wickets on our way to the target, securing an excellent win. 4th XI Glen Iris had a bit of trouble running between the wickets as we put on a great display in the field with 3 run outs. The bowling was solid too, Paul Harrison, Josh Taylor and Daniel Adams picking up 2 wickets each as we rolled them for 85. It took our boys just 19 overs to reach the target led by Joe Demaria (30no) and Chris Welch (29). The win keeps the 4s in finals contention, currently sitting 5th, just three points behind the teams in 3rd and 4th spot. 5th XI We were in good shape after Jared Pitt went through Deepdene Uniting's middle order, leaving them 5/90. But an unbeaten partnership of 72 took their score to 162, JPS finishing with 3/36. Darren Bourke stepped up to the challenge of the run chase, but fell just short of his 50, bowled for 49! Mark Harrison contributed 34 late in the innings as we battled to a score of 8/145. Not quite enough but the 5s aren't far away from another win. 50s Vets Up against Koonung Heights, the 50s had some strong bowling performances by Greg Feutrill (3/31), Clive Welti (2/4) and Bill Grabham (2/33) to bowl the opposition out for 160. It was a clinical run chase led by Bill Grabham who retired on 41 and yet another Graeme Turnbull 40 retired. We passed the target with the loss of just 2 wickets to go clear on top of the ladder! 40s Vets BYE LOOK GOOD, FEEL GOOD, BE GOOD!!

09.01.2022 On behalf of the entire Club we would like to congratulate TC on achieving his 200 game milestone this week. TC has made an outstanding contribution to our Club on and off the field since his first game back in 2005: since then he has racked up in excess of 4000 runs including 4 centuries and18 half centuries, and was a member of our 2018/2019 Dunstan Premiership team. His contribution off the field has also been impressive serving on the Club’s Executive committee for a numb...er of years. Congratulations once again TC on an outstanding career so far.
