14.01.2022 NEJCA Advice re: COVID-19 (Corona Virus) Information and advice is changing rapidly, but for this weekend at least, play continues for our 800-plus participants. As parents and care providers, we know how awesome kids are at sharing, so to help mitigate some of the spread-risk of COVID-19, please see below some initiatives that NEJCA are encouraging for the weekend:... :: shining the ball without any saliva :: like Aus and NZ last night, rather than shaking hands at the end of play, teams and spectators are encouraged to applaud each other/the participants from the ground, ensuring that the Spirit of Cricket is still upheld :: players are encouraged to either sanitise - or wash their hands with soap and water - after batting, bowling and fielding. :: drinking out of individual drink bottles instead of shared containers/cups. It has been decided that individuals from both teams are to supply their own morning tea to be consumed by themselves. It is still encouraged for teams to congrigrate and converse during the break for the social aspect- however to avoid any spreading, it is encouraged not to share food. These precautions should be in addition to anything your family is already doing, e.g. staying home if unwell, taking care when coughing, being hygenic We hope everyone has a great weekend of cricket.
