25.01.2022 TO ALL MY CLIENTS WHO HAVE UPCOMING APPOINTMENTS As it stands right now I am open for business. Now more than ever it's important to me to remain available to help people manage their wellbeing. However, given the level of uncertainty around COVID-19, I have had to change how I do sessions. This is primarily to safeguard my elderly parents as they share the clinic space and home where my clinic is set up. From now until Easter (when I will reassess) all my sessions will be... done remotely. For those of you who have not experienced a remote session this means the session will be conducted via phone or FaceTime. The nature of what I do allows this to be done with the same outcomes as those for sessions done in person. It takes the same amount of time and you are involved as much as you usually are so you would need to make yourself available for this time. What happens in a remote session is that we would chat for about 10 minutes at the start of the session (as we normally would) so I can get a status of where you are at. Then I hang up the phone and start the session. If I need questions answered I either text or phone during the session. Once I have completed the session I then call you to go over what came up and what you need to do to support the session (as I normally would). If you would prefer to remain on the phone for the entire session that is fine. This would be the case for a FaceTime session. How this works? We are having a subconscious conversation when we first get together (regardless of whether you are here in person or not). Physical distance is no barrier to allow this to happen. I have worked with people in other States and in other countries and in some of those instances I have never physically met the person. I appreciate that this can be a stretch for some people so I understand if you would prefer to postpone. If you have any specific questions you can comment below or Inbox/DM me. You can also email me at [email protected] or text me. Take care. Carolyn See more

24.01.2022 Sense of Self -------------- I came across this really interesting TED talk about Sense of Self (although its not called that) but Caroline McHugh describes it so well I thought I'd share. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veEQQ-N9xWU

21.01.2022 Discovering your best life -------------------------- Your best life is an expression of your sense of self from the heart. What does this mean? It means that we live our life from the space where we feel inspired, passionate, purpose-driven and fulfilled. We know who we are and how to express it. We have what it takes to overcome our limitations and any obstacles. We feel that with each step we are moving onwards and upwards, discovering our best life. For many of us thou...gh we aren't able to do this. We either don't know what our passion is or we feel unable to express it. This is because we have unresolved experiences and trauma that keep us locked into a fight/flight (defence, survival) response instead of a "thrival" response. This limits us and our attempts to both discover and live our purpose driven life, our heart life, our best life. So what to do? I recently came across a great book by Julia Cameron author of The Artist's Way, called Vein of Gold which has practical exercises on how to unlock your creative heart (link below). This is a great support to the work I do in clinic and it might just create the space you need to discover your best life too. https://www.booktopia.com.au/the-vein-//9780285642041.html

18.01.2022 Self Care is important especially in times of stress.

18.01.2022 Time for my Kick-a Cold "Juice" home remedy. With summer finished and the winter season now on its way, cold and flu starts to become more prevalent. There are lots of sites out there that have good information on how to fortify your immune system but what if you already have a cold or the flu? Here is my go-to home remedy to combat the dreaded lurgy. --Kick-a-Cold "Juice"-- In a cup of echinacea tea (or green tea, your favourite herbal tea of just hot water) add:... 1 tsp crushed garlic (about 1-2 cloves) 1 tsp crushed ginger (or horseradish if you prefer) 1 tsp honey (more if you like) Juice from one lemon Dash of cayenne pepper (or chilli if you prefer) Stir thoroughly and let it stew for a few minutes, holding it under your nose (not too close) so you can breathe in the vapour while you wait for it to reach drinking temperature. Then sip slowly until done (you don't have to drink the dregs if you don't want to). You can make this several times a day.

14.01.2022 Why do people stop you or try to bring you down? Here's one explanation... ------------ People stop you because they're angry that you've changed and they know they haven't (and can't). You didn't tell them so they weren't ready. It triggers their defences about themselves and what they're not, it reminds them of their self-believe that they are less and now they are less than you too. They really don't like that. While ever you both remained in the same defence soup pot it w...as ok. There was no challenge to how they felt about themselves, what they needed to change so they felt OK (even if you were both just painting shit gold you were still together). But now you've stepped out on your path and they can't. That's why they'll pull you down. Not because you stepped out but because they realised they can't go with you or step on their own path. 07.01.2022 Are you a HSP? One of the most profound books that I have come across in my work was that of Elaine Aron - The Highly Sensitive Person. A number of my clients (and family and friends) could relate to this and it not only made them feel less alone but importantly helped them to understand the thoughts, feelings, behaviours and experiences in their lives that seemed so out-of-sync with the so-called "rest" of society. Here is a TED talk by Elena Herdieckerhoff, a HSP, who talks about her experience of discovering this about herself. I hasten to add this is not a diagnosis or a label or even an excuse but it is an understanding and it might help you too. I have put a link to the Elaine Aron website in the comments below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi4JOlMSWjo

06.01.2022 Mindfulness and meditation is everywhere at that moment, talked about, posted, promoted, it seems everyone wants more of it. Mindfulness and mediation can mean very different things though and doesn't always mean sitting cross legged in the lotus pose and "omming". What does mindfulness mean to you? Being present? Going for a walk? Drumming? Regardless, it seems science has once again provided some interesting research on the positive effects of meditative mindfulness and ageing. Take a look. https://www.thealternativedaily.com/science-says-do-this-m/

03.01.2022 I've talked about anxiety before and came across the below article - its lengthy but does go into just how common anxiety has become. It also confirms the link between our survival (flight/fight) response and anxiety. Its something I see with just about every client that comes to my clinic. Its far more common that I think people realise so if this article helps you feel less alone, then yay! https://www.abc.net.au//anxiety-physical-symptoms/11617036

01.01.2022 Could you just have a cold? There is a lot of hype and fear about the potential of COVID-19 at the moment and subsequent confusion about the symptoms. So how might you know you have COVID or just a cold? The Australian Government has produced a handy chart to refer to so you can check your symptoms and see where you might land. ... Of course, if you suspect COVID then you should absolutely get tested to confirm, but if you don't have the COVID symptoms then maybe its just a cold. In any case keep calm and wash your hands. https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-identifyin
