23.01.2022 Hi Bowlers. As you will be aware Regional Victoria will enter into Stage 3 Restrictions as of 11.59pm Wednesday 5th August (this evening). Please note the updated advice from Bowls Victoria below, with the main change being that any Club on Council Land (Cowncil owned) must seek approval form Council to be open - this means the greens also.... ***Revised Stage 3 Guidelines Summary for Clubs*** Although no written confirmation has been received, until further notice Bowls Victoria interprets the current Stage 3 restrictions, and the above two points, to include Bowls. Therefore the following revised Stage 3 Guidelines apply. Clubs must receive approval from their local council to open their Club (only if they are Council owned). Members must contact their local club as to when they are open. Indoor bowls facilities must remain closed, noting covered greens with open sides are not classified as indoors. Outdoor bowls is limited to a maximum of 2 people per rink, with a patron cap of 10 per green. 1.5 metres must be the minimum distance maintained between each rink. Shared equipment (jacks & mats) must not be shared and only handled by one person, and must be cleaned and disinfected before and after use. Club houses must be closed (with the exception of toilet facilities). Outdoor toilet facilities can be used. Official training or club competitions cannot be held. Clubs must update all signage at the club to advise members on the new requirements. Click here to download revised Club signage.

21.01.2022 Hi Bowlers, Today at the meeting of the EGBD delegates, members voted 4 - For, and 5 Against - for commencing Pennant before Christmas. We understand that this may be very disappointing for some bowlers, and also very comforting to others. It should be noted that all of our neighboring regions will be commencing formal Pennant in October and November. However, in light of restrictions allowing for competition bowls to start as of 16 September, the EGBD - in encouraging the r...eturn of bowlers to the greens, has proposed to run a competition similar to Pennant, to commence 7 November 2020 for those clubs / members that still wish to play interclub competition as soon as possible, until such time as Pennant starts after Christmas. We understand many of you will have questions about what this alternative competition will look like, and hopefully these will be answered in correspondence that we hope to send out to all clubs by the end of this week. Kind Regards, Nigel Plunkett EGBD President

21.01.2022 Pennant Dates Dear All Now that we have some clarity re bowls the decision has been made today to commence Pennant on the following dates ... Midweek 13 October, Saturday 17 October. I can now ask the printer to get Program Books printed with the new information. These will be available as soon as he can print & deliver (after I alter the dates and make any other corrections from the first proof). Score cards & Pennant check forms are available (more later). Some more details to consider - All clubs need to establish a COVI-19 Plan. We all need to follow guidelines carefully to ensure bowls can continue (details on BV website). Afternoon tea break clubs to provide tea & coffee only. More details to follow once we can establish what else needs to be done.

20.01.2022 Results for every completed (and in progress) EGBD State Event can be found on the EGBD web page. Check out some of these lovely photos from the EGBD State Events completed so far! https://egbd.bowls.com.au/2020-21-east-gippsland-bowls-div/

19.01.2022 MEMO: Decision made at Delegates Meeting (21/9) re the 20/21 Pennant Season. I have noted that there has been some dissatisfaction with the EGBD regarding the decision to play Pennant after Christmas at the recent Delegates meeting. I point out that the decision when to start pennant was made by 5 of the 10 Clubs of the Division (Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance, Howitt Park, Orbost and Bairnsdale Golf).... The EGBD Board played an impartial role, as they should, and asked the Clubs to decide, having provided them with the information required to make an educated decision. The EGBD is ready and able to facilitate a Pennant competition in November or later. If EGBD Pennant players, whose Clubs voted against starting Pennant in November, have an issue with the vote and the outcome then they should raise their concerns directly with their Club President. The EGBD Board is only able to override decisions made by its Member Clubs if the Division believes that the decision contravenes the health and safety of all concerned or the decision is detrimental to the game of bowls in East Gippsland. Nigel Plunkett President East Gippsland Bowls Division

19.01.2022 Since the end of October we have had no new cases of Covid-19 in Victoria. It is also great to see that since Saturday Pennant started on the 7th November we have had 390 individual bowlers playing EGBD Pennant, according to the Results portal! This is just a message to compliment all of the hard work clubs have been doing to keep their players and visitors safe with their Covid-safe plans - and a reminder to keep up to date with the Return to Play document as and when it is updated by Bowls Victoria. https://www.bowlsvic.org.au/covid-19/return-to-play/

17.01.2022 Finally some fantastic news! It appears we can have as many bowlers as required on our greens, which means a return to normal competition on the most part. Spectators are not allowed. Please note that this does not change the restrictions regarding personal hygiene, wearing of masks, and social distancing etc.

03.01.2022 Hello Bowlers, I am glad to announce that Lindenow Bowls Club in East Gippsland has been selected as a host venue for this year’s BPL Cup! So what is the BPL Cup? The Bowls Premier League Cup has been running for 12 editions now and is an opportunity for club based teams to compete against other clubs in a 2 bowl triples format, just like on TV.... But there is a difference! Teams play 2 sets of 5 ends each against each opposing team. Each Team has the ability to have a sub player available, and the best part is that each team can play a Power Play each set. A full guide on the format and more details on the above, can be found here: https://www.bowls.com.au//07/BPL-Cup-Competition-Manual.pdf So if you think you have what it takes to be a part of this great competition, which could win you a paid trip to the National Finals at Club Pine Rivers in November 2020, then register your team below by following this link: https://www.bowlslink.com.au//1e8449af-92a7-41cb-b39e-172b Obviously the event will be subject to any Covid-19 related restrictions.
