12.01.2022 Moulds are microscopic fungi made up of clusters of filaments, and live on organic (plant or animal) matter, which they decompose for their nourishment. Moulds are among the most widespread living organism, with many different varieties. Most mould reproduce by releasing spores into the air, which then settle on organic matter and grow into new mould clusters. These airborne mould spores are far more numerous than pollen grains, and when inhaled can produce allergic rhinitis ...symptoms in susceptible individuals. Moulds can be found both indoors and outdoors. Unlike pollens, moulds do not have a limited season. Moulds flourish in damp, dark and warm areas where there is poor ventilation. Mould spores produced outside are widely dispersed in the air, and can enter the home. Other moulds are produced within the home. Mould Allergy symptoms include sneezing, runny or blocked nose or wheezing, exacerbation of asthma, red watery eyes, headaches, urticarial rash The main ways for controlling condensation and mould are ventilation, heating, insulation and removal. At Allergy First Gold Coast Clinic and Allergy First Brisbane Clinic we provide the Allergy Tests for Mould allergy (aeroallergens panel)

07.01.2022 Allergic Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva of the eye which is the layer of tissue which lines the front part of the eyeball (the white part of the eye) and the inside of the eyelids. While conjunctivitis can be caused by bacteria, virus, or chemical irritation, allergic conjunctivitis is caused by allergies. According to ASCIA (2019), symptoms may include: - Redness in both eyes. - Itching and burning of both the eye and surrounding tissues.... - Watery discharge, often accompanied by acute discomfort in bright sunlight light (photophobia). - The conjunctiva itself may become very swollen and may interfere with clarity of vision. These symptoms can be perennial in nature (all year long) or seasonal (present in various seasons). At Allergy First we can help you identify the allergic triggers, treat the symptoms, and desensitize against the allergies which cause allergic conjunctivitis.
