22.01.2022 There was some outstanding racing recently as well as World Championship qualifying spots up for grabs at Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast where Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club trotted out some of its finest athletes and as usual they all excelled. Breaking five hours was the order of the day with awesome performances from Christian Chiff Welander, Todd Robertson, Kevin Davis, Sally Taggart (1st F50-54), Britt Kjemhus Welander (2nd F45-49) and Justin Lynch not to mention a great 70....3 debut for young Nicholas Duell-Ferguson. Huge congratulations to Sally, Christian, and Britt who are now Lake Taupo bound for next years Ironman 70.3 World Championships. Well done also to Ian Hemmings for a rock-solid performance at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice, France on a tough and hilly bike course where the descents were terrifying. Congratulations also too crazy Susan King for completing her Scilly Islands swim adventure where the local gents describe the conditions as spanner water. Great work also at last weekend`s Blackmores Sydney Running Festival where many of our Plus Performance crew were sighted. Special mention however to a lean and mean Simon Hatlee for his half marathon PB and smiling Amy Maxwell for her great fundraising efforts for the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation. In other news Myles Hannan is currently showing off our club cycling kit in the Spanish cycling mecca of Girona whilst all licensed establishments in a 100 kilometre radius of Sydney have been placed on full alert now that Redzel is back on the race track in fine form and part-owner and founding club member Damien Yates is gearing up for post-race celebrations! Some good racing ahead with Elite Energy Events at Forster and Huskisson as well as iconic races like Nepean Triathlon and Noosa Triathlon and Multisport Festival on the radar of many members. Train safe and race hard. Cheers, Presto

21.01.2022 2020 financial members will have this morning received an email on how to order their free kit offer. If you have not received this email, first check your junk folder, if it is not there please email [email protected]!

21.01.2022 With valuable Inter Club Series points on offer at the recent Triathlon NSW Sprint Championships held at Kurnell recently your club was hoping for a big turnout at what is Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club`s happiest ever hunting ground . Alas, only three members forked out the big bucks required with special mention to inform Tsumi Smith for winning F 40-44 and loyal members Gordo Campbell and Amy Maxwell for their gallant efforts which allowed us to cling to second place in ou...r division. On Australia Day we were well represented at the Sydney Harbour Splash n Dash with great efforts from Kay Poletto, Gordo Campbell.Alise Croft, Maia Croft as well as Dawn Hillier-Davis backing up from a solid 21k effort at the Sydney Trail Series event at Manly Dam. Further afield Zoe Little and Susan King have taken their 4SEAsons Swim crew on a New Zealand Swimming safari whilst our Performance by 3 crew have been training the house down in the build up to Big Husky and IRONMAN 70.3 Taupo. There has never been any doubt that Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club punches above its weight in competition but it is worth noting the many achievements of our members that happen away from our multisport endeavours. Special congratulations to Anne Massey for the recent award she received from the Can too Foundation for her extraordinary leadership and fundraising efforts as well as to Kirsten Lodge who recently made it to Mount Everest Base Camp. Best Wishes also to John Morris on his recent Canadian wedding to Angeline which also included a rare sighting of our invisible man Mitchel Martin-Weber. Train Safe, Race Hard. Your next report will come to you from the cycling mecca of Tenerife. Cheers, Presto

20.01.2022 The last couple of weeks have been hectic for Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members with an array of sterling performances at a variety of events. At the recent Shimano Big Husky Triathlon Festival our Plus Performance Crew were out in force with great efforts from Gordo Campbell, Amy Maxwell, Sinead Twomey and Kay Harris as well as podium performances from Claire Crennan, Susan King and Kay Poletto. Great work also from Ian Hemmings for yet another podium performance. Meanw...hile in New Zealand Performance by 3 were out in force with an outstanding podium to Alise Croft and Maia Croft in the gruelling Breca Swimrun at Wanaka whilst at Lake Taupo evergreen Sally Taggart tore up the IRONMAN 70.3 Taupo course to win F50-54 alongside power couple Britt Kjemhus Welander and Christian Chiff Welander who were also in sensational form and recorded top five performances. Not to be outdone Justin Wendemuth and Kevin Davis did us proud at IRONMAN New Zealand, whilst Dawn Hillier Davis led our cheer squad before some well deserved R&R. Last weekend at the supremely organised Tweed Coast Enduro run by NXsports, Mark Preston won his Triathlon Queensland M65-69 Aquabike event over the 1.9kswim/90k bike course by over 14 minutes in a time that would have had him on the podium in all but one younger age group. Back home our 4SEAsons Swim crew are putting in the big open water training miles for some upcoming 5km swim events. This weekend we wish the best of luck to Claire Crennan and Tsumi Wharton who contest the Australian Standard Distance Championships as part of the Mooloolaba Triathlon. This race has been a happy hunting ground for Eastern Suburbs members such as Adam Radford, Laura Siddall, Elliot Brown, Sally Taggart and Mark Preston to name just a few that have excelled at this great venue. Members would have also received a barrage of emails from Elite Energy Events and Triathlon NSW regarding the 2020 Club Championships being held on May 23 at Forster NSW. At this stage Amy Maxwell is under pressure as our only registered competitor but if we can get our act together we will give our division a huge fright. More to come soon but the positives so far are that the date does not clash and the event is not being held west of Anzac Parade which has been a huge barrier in recent years. Train Safe and Race Hard! Cheers, Presto

19.01.2022 Dave Rowe cycling the Hunter Valley in preparation for his comeback at Morpeth

17.01.2022 Despite the relative uncertainty surrounding the holding of multisport events around Australia, Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club membership numbers are only slightly below previous years with only a handful of members have deferring their renewals until there is more certainty on the event front. This however comes with the risks posed to coaches, training partners and the general public associated with the lack of insurance cover should an accident unfortunately occur. I wou...ld like to also welcome aboard talented junior athlete Bella Walley. The good news for members that have renewed by the generous date of September 30, 2020 is that they will be entitled to yet another complimentary kit offer for season 2020/21 which is currently being negotiated with the chosen supplier. Keep an eye on your emails over the next few weeks for further details. On the very thin racing front it is good to see that our golden girls Sally Taggart, Claire Crennan and Tsumi Smith haven’t lost any form with outstanding performances in the local BRAT Club Bondi Running And Triathlon Club Duathlons held at Heffron Park Meanwhile our Performance by 3, Plus Performance and 4SEAsons Swim crews continue to train the house down as well as simulate racing at venues all around Sydney and will be on fire once racing returns to normal Train safe and get ready to race hard Cheers, Presto

17.01.2022 Some great results at Calalla

17.01.2022 The Shimano Husky Triathlon Festival is looming and it is looking like over half our membership base will be contesting this hugely popular event based on the number of entries that have been made by Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members to date While racing has been scarce in recent weeks, there have still been some outstanding results! At the Callala Triathlon Festival Triathlon New South Wales poster girl Claire Crennan was sixth female overall to place 3rd F30-34, close...ly followed by Swedish Sensation Britt Kjemhus Welander, who dominated F45-49 as well as Kay Poletto. In the Open Aquabike event, 66 year-old Mark Preston dished out a swim/bike master class to win by 3 minutes and 39 years which sent his fellow competitors packing to the House of Mirrors to take a long hard look at themselves. Also racing the house down and doing us proud is young Bella Walley who has been on the road more than Willie Nelson to contest the Biligence Pathway Series events across the state as well as flying on the cycle track with Randwick Cycling Club. In the ocean, Zoe Little and her 4SEAsons Swim crew have contested every ocean swim possible including last weekend`s North Bondi Rough Water Classic. Not to be outdone and despite a hectic work schedule, Anel Radford has made the Pro League in the world of Zwift Racing where she will captain Team Venom. This is serious stuff with team members having FTPs of 4.5 wpkg or better and racing for real money. The team is under the expert and fastidious guidance of club member Adam Radford who has won the position of Directeur Sportif. Away from racing, our Plus Performance and PB3 Racing members have been doing some serious training with numerous sightings of Susan King, Sam Playfair and Kirsten Lodge in the Snowy Mountains region early in 2021. In other news, huge congratulations are in order as Petros Macarounas and Chanel Gallen chalk up another engagement from our affiliated dating agency Performance By 3 to add to Todd Robertson`s helicopter hire engagement surprise last year from which recent reports show he is still celebrating. There have also been some high profile 50th Birthday celebrations lately including Britt Kjemhus Welander, Mayor of Bronte Carlo and well known Sir Lunchalot Dave Rowe. Last but not least the double barrelled celebration for twins Alise Croft and Maia Croft - which is still in full flight and will require a holiday to make a full recovery. Congratulations to all! Train safe and race hard Cheers, Presto

15.01.2022 The last couple have weeks have seen many outstanding performances from Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members highlighted last weekend at IRONMAN in Western Australia and Ironman 70.3 Western Australia 2019. Huge congratulations to Justin Wendemuth, Laura Brown, Todd Robertson, Kate Olivia Wholohan, Jo Kneebone and Kirsten Lodge for their inspirational efforts, many of which were on debut and all of whom thoroughly enjoyed not only the race but the journey to the start line ...as evidenced by their individual post race reports. Great work also to seasoned Kay Poletto and determined Kay Harris for their 70.3 efforts. The previous week at IRONMAN 70.3 Western Sydney we had a great roll up with special mention to legal celebrity Ian Hemmings and debutant Claire Crennan who gained Lake Taupo 2020 Ironman 70.3 World Championships spots where they will be joining our already large contingent of our already qualified club members. Meanwhile at the Kingscliff Triathlon Festival 65 year-old Mark Preston gave all but one youngster a swim/ bike lesson in the hotly contested Open Age Aquabike event that consisted of a 1.5k swim/40k bike and 1k run that he completed in a very slick 1 hour 30 minutes. Further afield our youngest member Toby Hannan had a great race at Hamilton Island Triathlon well supported by frequent flyer Alise Croft and a rehabilitating Myles Hannan. Great to see the ocean swim season big events coming into play with some great efforts at Wedding Cake Island 2.4K Swim, Coogee Beach and the iconic Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim where many of our 4SEAsons Swim, Plus Performance and Performance by 3 athletes were in fine form including Susan King, Zoe Little, Sam Playfair and Brit Wielander. Unfortunately we had no starters at the recent Triathlon NSW Sprint Series at Kurnell due to a number of event clashes so we will need to turn up in force for the January event to threaten the Inter Club Series. By the time you read this post your complimentary Run Shirt or Run Singlet will be en route to your nominated postal address from Tineli Australia. I have just seen them here in Noosa and they look fantastic. Train safe, race hard Cheers, Presto

15.01.2022 Despite herculean efforts from race organisers like Elite Energy Events as well as support from Triathlon NSW, a cloud still hangs over when Triathlon and other multi-sport racing will resume. Nonetheless, Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members continue to soldier on in this climate of uncertainty to remain focused on those things that they can control, namely their training. Our Performance by 3 crew haven’t missed a beat with evergreen Sally Taggart recently taking out the ...BRAT Club Bondi Running And Triathlon Club duathlon at Heffron Park whilst Justin Lynch was secretly swim training at Thredbo Resort in between skiing down the slopes. Gordo Campbell and his Plus Performance group have also been in full swing and their recent internal duathlon in Centennial Parklands was hugely successful with some pretty slick times posted. 4SEAsons Swim, under the guidance of Zoe Little, Susan King and swim/run guru David Stirk have also been training the house down and it is not long until their October Swim Camp at Lake Macquarie kicks off where what happens on tour stays on tour Meanwhile, young Pro Triathlete Justin Wendemuth has been surviving on baked bean sandwiches as Ironman continues to cancel or postpone events but this has not dampened his enthusiasm. In a blast from the past, Triathlon Australia recently posted some photos from the 2005 Hobart International Triathlon that featured club members Sally Taggart and Mark Preston, both of whom won their respective categories at the time to secure ITU Multisport World Championships selection for that year in Honolulu. Sally is still on fire whilst 'Old Presto' is a cripple in waiting but still able to whip plenty of youngsters in Aquabike events. Welcome to new members Jimmy Clare and Brendan Pride and hurry back to those handful of members yet to renew, mainly due to credit card details not updated in the TA membership portal. Train safe and hopefully soon we will be racing hard. Cheers, Presto

14.01.2022 Keep an eye out for your new kit that will be dispatched this week

11.01.2022 As the light begins to shine at the end of the tunnel in this new covid world it is great to see that nothing has inhibited Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members competing in whatever events have been able to take place or getting ready to compete in the events that are just around the corner. Congratulations to Kay Poletto for her recent podium at the 2020 Port Stephens Triathlon Festival and to Kevin Davis and Dawn Hillier-Davis for their great efforts at the Sydney Tail S...eries. Awesome work as well from young Bella Walley at the Biligence Pathway Championships hosted recently by Orange Cycle and Triathlon Club. Well done also to the PB3 Racing crew who last weekend said farewell to 2020 by running marathons and half marathons along Brighton Le Sands with special mention to Ian Hemmings who recorded a PB despite his ripe old age as well as a lean and mean Simon Hatlee along with our champion of champions Sally Taggart. Next up is the PB3 Racing Summer Camp being held in early January 2021 where what happens at camp stays at camp. Our 4SEAsons Swim crew have not let the lack of official ocean swim events deter their enthusiasm as Zoe Little continues to organize pop up swims all over Sydney with great attendance numbers. Also well done to Gordon Campbell and his Plus Performance crew who have been flying around Centennial Park recently. Special mention to Cyril Baldock who recently collected his Order of Australia Medal at Government House, Sydney but unfortunately was barred from singing at the celebration . Great effort also by Kate Olivia Wholohan who recently completed a gruelling gravel bike adventure around country NSW . Best of luck also to Amy Maxwell after her recent shoulder surgery and it is certain we all just want to wish her well This weekend we will be represented at the Tomaree Triathlon Club Dave Swan Memorial race and the following weekend at the Elite Energy Events Callala Bay Triathlon . Fantastic news also for those that were able to secure entry to the @Elite Energy Shimano Husky Australian Triathlon Championship 2021, even if it required taking out a second mortgage. This great event always attracts the most Eastern Suburbs members and we nearly always punch above our weight. Your hoodies and swim caps are on the way. Train safe and race hard. Cheers, Presto

11.01.2022 Some great results at Calalla yesterday #triathlonnsw #trinsw #EastsTriClub

11.01.2022 The events of the past two months have not dampened the enthusiasm of Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members who continue to train the house down via the innovative solutions created by Plus Performance, Performance by 3 and 4SEAsons Swim who will be almost back in full swing from this weekend. There has been lots of speculation as to when triathlon and other multi-sport activities will resume normality but early predictions are that September through to December 2020 will be... jam packed with competition and event choices so lets hope things pan out that way. Despite no competition to shine in Easts members have kept our profile high spearheaded by Claire Crennan whose distinguished triathlon achievements were the subject of a great Triathlon Australia expose this week. In just three years in the sport Claire has been our regions most valuable performer over the past two seasons, won State Titles, represented Australia at ITU World Champs and is in training for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Lake Taupo this November where she will be joined by fellow club members Sally Taggart, Simon Hatlee, Ian Hemmings and super couple Britt Kjemhus Welander and Christian Chiff Welander. Also honoured this week was Tsumi Smith who is the reigning Triathlon NSW Duathlon, Sprint Distance and Olympic Distance Champion with an Australian Championship podium to her name as well along with Mary Stringer who is both Triathlon NSW and Triathlon Australia Duathlon Champion. Not to be outdone Cyril Baldock remains Australian Sprint Distance Champion for M75-79 and is currently on fire with his run training and it will take a lot to catch him as he sets himself for next year's Aquathon World Champs in Townsville. Train safe and get ready to race hard. Cheers, Presto

09.01.2022 The Festive Season might have been quiet in terms of racing but it was huge in terms of training volume accumulation in the build up to a number of races for Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club Members including @The Huskisson Triathlon Festival, Tweed Coast Enduro and IRONMAN New Zealand and 70.3 at Lake Taupo. It was also great to see many members out and about in both their club cycling and running kit at a wide variety of locations. This weekend some of our Performance by 3 an...d Plus Performance crews will tackle the Triathlon NSW Sprint Series event at Kurnell which serves as an ITU Worlds qualifier, NSW Sprint Championship and also has Inter Club Series points on offer. Good luck to those competing. Meanwhile last weekend on their home turf our 4SEAsons Swim crew excelled at the North Bondi Roughwater Ocean Swim with special mention to Susan King, Zoe Little and Amy Maxwell for their podium performances. Train safe and race hard! Cheers, Presto

09.01.2022 The last couple of weeks have been a little quieter on the racing front but as usual there have been some outstanding results from our members. At the recent Elite Energy Tri Series Callala it was Gold, Gold, Gold for Christian Chiff Welander, Britt Kjemhus Welander and Tsumi Smith with Britt and Tsumi not only winning their categories but also finishing second and third females outright. Great also to see new member Chanel Gallen make a strong comeback to racing. Last weeken...d we were also represented at the Vladswim Challenge. Well done to Rottnest Island, Western Australia bound smiling Sam Playfair for a great 10k swim, Mark Preston for a top 20 overall and second M60 plus in the 5k and Kay Poletto for a solid 2.5k effort. In other news congratulations to Todd Robertson who set a new benchmark in marriage proposals by helicoptering his now Fiancée, Justine to a secluded Margaret River beach to ask for her hand in marriage. The pressure is now on for any other members contemplating nuptials but fortunately there is a wealth of knowledge amongst Club members to assist. By now all members should have received their complimentary running kit and so far feedback has been excellent. Wont be long before it will be seen all around town just like our very popular cycling kit often seen on our Performance by 3 and Plus Performance crews. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all members and make sure you leave some room on your credit cards (about $3 per minute) for Triathlon NSW Sprint Series at Kurnell on January 18th where valuable interclub points are on offer! Train safe and race hard! Cheers, Presto

08.01.2022 Despite 2019/20 being one of the weirdest seasons that many of us have experienced there is light beginning to appear and a return to racing is imminent , albeit in what will be different conditions. It has been great to see our Performance by 3, Plus Performance and now 8-year-old 4SEAsons Swim crews coping with the challenges and returning to almost full swing. It is also that time of the year when your combined Triathlon Australia, Triathlon NSW and Eastern Suburbs Triath...lon Club renewals are looming and whilst most members automatically renew it is still worth logging into your Triathlon Australia member profile to verify auto renewal and ensure your credit card details are up to date. For the usual suspects that manually renew when closer to entering their first race for the season, just remember the public liability and third party risk you are exposing yourself, your coach and your fellow training partners to. Whilst racing has been quiet, the achievements of our members continue to blossom. Huge congratulations to Chris Hanrahan and Ashleigh O`Mahoney who drank champagne and danced all night to celebrate the recent birth of their second daughter Lola.Whilst not the world`s most physical guy Chris was quoted as saying the name Lola really got me as he and Ash conspired whilst watching a Waterloo sunset when last in Sydney. A massive effort also from silent assassin Kevin Davis who braved 4 degrees celsius conditions recently at Penrith Regatta Centre to complete a solo marathon in a pretty slick time.He was ably supported and encouraged by his lovely wife Dawn Hillier-Davis. Meanwhile Cyril Baldock, an English Channel Swimming, Australian and World Lifesaving and singing legend, not to mention reigning Australian Triathlon Champion was honoured with an Order of Australia in this week`s Queens Birthday Awards. Congratulations Cyril on behalf of all Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members. Train safe and get ready to race hard! Cheers, Presto.

07.01.2022 The past few weeks have seen a much awaited return to triathlon racing on some of our favourite courses and no one has enjoyed the return more than Claire Crennan who posted yet another series of outstanding results with victories at Elite Energy Events Huskisson Sprint and Maitland Triathlon Long Course plus an outstanding second at Nepean Triathlon. Congratulations also to evergreen Sally Taggart for once again cleaning up F50-54 at Nepean along with Tim Lindop who had a fa...ntastic standard distance second place at Huskisson after which he wiped out the guy who pipped him at the Husky Pub. Well done also to consistent Tsumi Smith and Justin Wendemuth for their Maitland podiums and special mention to Dave Rowe who managed to squeeze in the Maitland Sprint Triathlon in between winery visits, long lunches, golf games and a bike tour. Meanwhile Mark Preston and Britt Weilander rode well at last weekend`s Cycling NSW Masters Teams Time Trial and learnt some very valuable lessons. Fantastic efforts also from young Bella Walley representing us recently on her home track of Heffron Park at the Triathlon NSW young talent academy event. In other news our globetrotting Croft twins were able to squeeze in a well-deserved break from their stressful routines in Northern NSW at a cycling and yoga camp where they sported their popular Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club cycling kit. Good luck to all clubs competing this weekend at the Triathlon NSW Club Championships. One day we will get there. Train safe and race hard Cheers, Presto

07.01.2022 After a very quiet six months triathlon racing returns in earnest, albeit under covid safe conditions, commencing this coming weekend with the Nepean Triathlon where a number of our Plus Performance Crew are planning to compete The following week Elite Energy Events kicks off a huge month at the Husky Triathlon Festival where Claire Crennan will spearhead our assault, followed by the restricted Triathlon NSW Club Championships at Forster and the always popular Port Stephens T...riathlon Festival - New Date!. On November 8th the long running Maitland Triathlon takes place at historic Morpeth where inform Tsumi Wharton will lead our Performance by 3 crew`s assault. Congratulations to young Bella Walley for her recent performances with the Triathlon New South Wales ROSTA program where she did us proud amongst some very talented athletes and picked up some very valuable skills Well done also to evergreen Sally Taggart and a very strong Sean Tully who have done well at recent Brat Triathlon Club duathlons on the tricky Heffron Park circuit. Also to Mark Preston who took on the very serious cyclists at the recent NSW Masters State Champs at Singleton to podium in the M65-69 ITT representing the strong Randwick Cycling Club Meanwhile our 4SEAsons Swim crew are eagerly awaiting a return to oceanswim competitions but are training the house down at Bondi and more recently at Clovelly doing run/swims under the guidance of David Stirk. Our oldest member and most talented singer, legendary Cyril Baldock OAM is to be congratulated for his election as Patron of his beloved Bondi Surf Club and will no doubt continue to serve as an inspiration to those that know him. In other good news our hoodies and swim caps got into production ahead of schedule thanks to the prompt response from the large majority of members plus a little prodding from your Club President to only a handful of stragglers who quickly learnt not to mess with a self funded retiree on a mission. Train safe and now you can race hard. Cheers, Presto

06.01.2022 Some great racing by Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members in recent weeks kicking off at the longstanding Nepean Triathlon that never disappoints. Congratulations to Claire Crennan and Ian Hemmings for their podiums along with Chris Hanrahan, thirsty Tim Lindop, Kate Olivia Wholohan and Kirsten Lodge who all did us proud and gained us valuable points in the Sydney Premier League inter club series. Last weekend Tsumi Wharton tackled the Noosa Triathlon and Multisport Festiva...l for a solid 6th place in tricky conditions, whilst John Morris also made sure he extracted the full value from the expensive entry fee that this event commands. Meanwhile at Elite Energy Little Husky Mark Preston contested the Open Aquabike event only to be pipped by a couple of superfish kids who still learnt who was their Daddy on the tough 40k bike leg/500m run to finish with Old Presto recording the fastest bike split at age 65! Also last weekend a large group of our Plus Performance crew took part in the Sydney to Wollongong cycling event and appeared to have a fantastic time, especially Dawn HillierDavis. This weekend inform Simon Hatlee chases an Ironman 70.3 World Champs spot by travelling to Xiamen, China. Good luck Simon! Also taking place this weekend is the 3 Bays Challenge where many of our 4SEAsons Swim crew will compete. Next up are the Triathlon NSW Sprint Series at Kurnell and IRONMAN 70.3 Western Sydney where the Performance by 3 crew will be in full flight. Train safe and race hard. Cheers, Presto

06.01.2022 This weekend sees the Big Husky Triathlon Festival celebrate its 15th year. There will be plenty of Eastern Suburbs members in attendance to compete in multiple events and gain us valuable Triathlon NSW Inter Club series points and our Performance by 3 and Plus Performance crews have set their recent training blocks specifically for this event. The lead up to Big Husky has seen some outstanding performances with special mention to Tsumi Smith for adding the NSW Standard Distan...ce title to her impressive resume with a great win at Sparke Helmore in Newcastle last weekend. Well done also to Claire Crennan who won F30-34 at the recent Canberra Triathlon to gain valuable World Champs qualifier points for Edmonton. Our 4SEAsons Swim team have been on fire at many of the Sydney oceanswims, particularly the Bondi Blue Water Challenge which this year avoided the curse of Cyril Baldock and was held in perfect conditions. Cyril also did well by winning the 4k sand run then follow up with the 1km swim victory to show he is on target to defend his Australian Sprint Distance title. Some great work also by quiet achiever David Stirk who has been running some great swim/run sessions at Clovelly. Well done to Justin Wendemuth for a solid hit out at IRONMAN 70.3 Geelong which will benefit him for the upcoming IRONMAN New Zealand where we will also see husband and wife sensations Britt Kjemhus Welander and Christian Chiff Welander have a lash at the 70.3 event in the build up to their World Championships campaign. Special mention to smiling Sam Playfair for her outstanding completion of the gruelling Rottnest Channel Swim despite a shoulder injury and to Maia Croft and Alise Croft who are looking good for their next International Swim/Run event being held soon in Wanaka, New Zealand. Fresh off some Tenerife altitude training Mark Preston will be contesting the upcoming Tweed Coast Enduro Aquabike on the flat, fast and hot Pottsville course. Train Safe and Race Hard Cheers, Presto

06.01.2022 Still not much happening on the racing front as yet, other than virtual racing, but things are starting to look up and hopefully some of the events scheduled for October and beyond can take place, albeit under revised conditions. Last weekend Manly Warringah Cycling Club, in conjunction with Warringah Triathlon Club conducted a supremely organised Individual Time Trial event over a lumpy 24k course that attracted over 150 starters. Mark Preston put four-minutes into the clos...est male 60+ on a course more suited to lighter riders. The race was worth attending, if only to witness all the bling that was on display proving once again that anything in cycling can be fixed with a few dollars. This coming weekend we will have a few starters at the BRAT Club Bondi Running And Triathlon Club Duathlon being held at Heffron Park where our girls always shine but hopefully we will be represented by some guys as well. While our Plus Performance, Performance by 3 and 4SEAsons Swim continue to train the house down, it was great to see coach Kingy sporting our club kit on her travels around the mid north coast on a secret training mission in lieu of the postponement of IRONMAN in Port Macquarie. Huge congratulations are in order for young Bella Walley under the watchful eye of coach Gordo Campbell for her selection into the Triathlon NSW junior talent academy which is a first for Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club of which we are very proud. Designs have been finalised for this year's complimentary kit offer to all paid up members as at September 30th, 2020. Photos of the lightweight hooded sun protection jersey and swim cap from high quality supplier Engine Swim are below. For those members still dithering and procrastinating about rejoining you only have a couple of weeks to commit as there can be no extensions to this deadline. Full details of the ordering process will be emailed to paid up members in early October. Train safe and get ready to race hard Cheers, Presto.

06.01.2022 Unprecedented events and unprecedented measures have brought the foreseeable future of triathlon and multisport events to a halt.Whilst disappointing to our many talented members, there are bigger issues that face us, most important of which is to maintain our health. Nonetheless, at the last big triathlon event held this season, namely the Australian Standard Distance Championships at Mooloolaba, two of our members excelled. Congratulations to Tsumi Smith who added an Austra...lian Championships podium to her two Triathlon NSW State Titles and Claire Crennan who was a gallant sixth in the highly competitive F30-34. Not to be outdone our oldest member and most talented singer, Cyril Baldock, was the outstanding performer at the NSW Masters Surf Lifesaving Championships held recently at Swansea Belmont with victories in the Surf Race, Rescue Tube and 1k Beach Run in the M75 plus category before demolishing all and sundry at the post event celebrations. Congratulations Cyril for doing us proud yet again. Huge congratulations also to Chris Hanrahan of Performance by 3 for his well deserved nomination as Australian Age Group Triathlon Coach of the year. Chris survived a very solid and varied apprenticeship under a couple of unique coaches before taking the leap himself from which he has never looked back and continued to blossom along with his loyal band of athletes who have achieved fantastic results all over the globe. Chris was also instrumental in the establishment of Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club for which we are eternally grateful. Best of luck to Chris and also Ashleigh who have two tickets to paradise and will soon depart to set up a new life for themselves and their growing family in Western Australia. Train safely and stay healthy. Cheers, Presto

04.01.2022 New kit being dispatched this week to eligible members

04.01.2022 After a quiet few weeks the 2019/20 Triathlon season ramps up in style beginning this weekend with the iconic Nepean Triathlon where we will be chasing valuable Triathlon NSW Inter Club Series points. The following weekend we will have members competing at the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival as well as Elite Energy Events Tri Husky Festival and finally on November 24th our members will be split between the Triathlon NSW Sprint Series at Kurnell and IRONMAN 70.3 Western S...ydney. Some great running recently by Amy Maxwell who carried a hamstring injury through the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and recently engaged John Morris at the Vancouver Half Marathon. Welcome back to racing also for the very talented Laura Brown who swamped the field to win the Elite Female category at last weekend's Forster Ultimate distance triathlon and is once again on track for a big Western Sydney 70.3. Well done also to consistent Tsumi Wharton who ventured to Penrith Lakes last weekend to take out F40-44 at the Hills Tri Club Sprint Race. Congratulations also to those that competed at the Bowral Classic and Sydney Trail Series and special mention to run/swim /run guru David Stirk who can regularly be seen tearing up laps of Clovelly Bay. This year's run kit offer to members was another raging success with orders coming from members all over the globe to be completed within 72 hours thereby allowing us to get our order into production way ahead of schedule in time for an early December delivery. The only hiccup was that many of our members interpreted ONE FREE ITEM as one of everything on the menu but this has since been sorted with the final outcome being a dead-heat between run shirts and singlets in terms of popularity. The Gold Medal for ordering efficiency went to Anne Massey who placed her order immediately upon receipt of the email announcement. Welcome back to well known Eastern Suburbs identity Tim Lindop and Petros Macarounas also, a big welcome aboard to new members Kay Harris and Chanel Gallen. Train Safe and Race Hard Cheers, Presto

02.01.2022 Last weekend in Lausanne, Switzerland, Cyril Baldock and Claire Crennan did Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club extremely proud with their gallant efforts at the ITU World Championships. Cyril was an outstanding 6th in M75-79 Sprint Distance despite breaking his right wrist the day before the race in a cycling mishap. Despite the handicap, Cyril was only a minute off the podium. Imagine changing gears on a hilly technical course with a busted right wrist, let alone transitioning i...n and out of your bike and run shoes! No wonder Cyril is an English Channel and Bondi Surf Club legend and has now been inducted into the famous Lausanne Mad House! Claire contested the highly competitive F30-34 Olympic Distance event finishing a fantastic 23rd in a huge field. Congratulations Claire and there is no doubt heaps more exciting results ahead for Claire. Meanwhile, at the Waikiki Roughwater Swim where almost half the field recorded a DNF because of strong currents, Zoe Little toughed it out to finish and guide home her 4SEAsons Swim crew. Great work Zoe. Good luck to Ian Hemmings who this weekend contests the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice, France. Enjoy the race Hemmo in what could be tricky and wet conditions, especially on the very hilly bike course. At least we know that post-race Hemmo is famous for his relaxation and recovery techniques. Also, this weekend we will be represented at Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast by a quality group including Kevin Davis, lightly raced @JustinLynch, talented Todd Robertson, golfing guru Dave Rowe and sensational Sally Taggart. Best of luck to all. Further afield tough Kiwi Susan King will be contesting the Swim Scilly Challenge, a 15k swimming event off the Cornish Coast in Southwest England. Go Kingy! Plenty of big events on the horizon. Train Safe and Race Hard Cheers, Presto

02.01.2022 There hasn't been a lot of racing in recent weeks and this has given Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members the opportunity to put in some solid training leading up to iconic events like Noosa, Little Huskisson and most importantly the fantastic Nepean Triathlon where valuable Inter Club Series points are up for grabs. We will also have a good representation at the upcoming Bowral Classic Cycling Event as well as a number of ocean swimming events that are almost upon us. Well... done to Dawn Hillier Davis at the recent Sydney Trail Series event at St Ives and best of luck to Amy Maxwell who continues her awesome fundraising efforts for Sydney Children's Hospital by taking on the Chicago Marathon this weekend. Great work also by Zoe Little and Susan King for conducting another successful 4SEAsons Swim Spring Camp and best wishes to Mylo Hannon recovering from a cycling accident in the Spanish Pyrenees which earnt him a hip replacement yet failed to halt his permanent smile. Also to Chris Hanrahan for ramping up his acting career. Welcome aboard also to new members Sinead Twomey and Gareth O'Brien. All current members should watch their email inboxes for yet another generous and exciting offer from your club regarding a complimentary run kit offer as a reward for your outstanding loyalty to our club. Train safe and Race Hard Cheers, Presto

01.01.2022 Welcome to the 2020/21 Triathlon and Multisport season in these very strange times. For your Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club we enter our eleventh season and it is with huge pride I can announce that over 90% of our members have automatically renewed their membership and even more pleasing is that 70% of our members have been with us since our inception in 2010/11. Whilst we are only a small club, we always punch above our weight in training, competition and post event celebra...tions and there would be few, if any clubs in Australia that could match our membership renewal and retention rates. All of this is possible due to the wonderful support of our members and major training and coaching affiliations through Performance by 3, Plus Performance and 4SEAsons Swim and the tireless support of Chris Hanrahan, Gordo Campbell, Zoe Little and Susan King. Welcome aboard to new member Blake Moloney from our PB3 connection and with a fine pedigree in post event celebrations. Unfortunately there have been event cancellations and postponements that have impacted the plans of many of our members but not their spirit or focus. Rather than getting bitter they are getting better and setting their sights on races like Sunshine Coast and IRONMAN 70.3 Western Sydney plus the full set of Triathlon NSW Interclub Series events that have yet to be impacted. We also have Adam Radford and Anel Radford smashing all comers on Zwift as well as Mark Preston giving some Strava segments for 66 year olds a shake. Train safe, get ready to race and welcome back Cheers, Presto

01.01.2022 It's a smorgasbord of racing this coming weekend with Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members competing on a variety of fronts. We will have a huge Performance By 3 contingent doing us proud at IRONMAN 70.3 Western Sydney including Nic Duell Ferguson, Gareth O`Brien, French sensation Alexandre Blanc, Coach Chris Hanrahan, in form Ian Hemmings and Guy Miller. Also stepping up in distance is Claire Crennan who unfortunately cannot be in two places at once to fly our colours at th...e Kurnell Triathlon NSW Sprint Series where our Plus Performance will do us proud along with reigning Australian Sprint Champion, Cyril Baldock. Further afield cripple in waiting and now Aquabike specialist Mark Preston will be competing at the Kingscliff Triathlon before a secret training block in Noosa. Also this weekend the first of the big time ocean-swims kicks off with the Wedding Cake Island 2.4K Swim, Coogee Beach in the lead-up to Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim where Zoe Little, Susan King and all our 4SEAsons Swim crew will be out in full force. Not long also to Ironman 70.3 Western Australia in Busselton where Sesame Street devotee Kirsten Lodge will lead our charge. Congratulations also to Simon Hatlee on his successful trip to Xiamen, China where his outstanding effort secured him a spot for next years Ironman 70.3 World Championships and well done also to globetrotting twins and Swim/Run specialists Alise Croft and Maia Croft who slipped over to Rottnest Island for a tough and hot event at which they performed so well that they are now in urgent need of another holiday. On another note huge congratulations to coach Gordon Campbell and Sally on the recent birth of daughter Molly Eve Campbell. Train safe and race hard! Cheers, Presto
