17.01.2022 A reminder to Local residences, to make sure your fire is completely blacked out and there is no remaining heat in it, once your burn is complete. Yesterday we turned out to a Scrub Fire in Hern Hill, which was a result of a Bon Fire which had been lit over a week ago. unfortunately this re-ignition escaped into near by scrub and took off up the hill.... With the near by grass still being green the Fire moved slowly, and we were able to quickly control and contain the fire, with the assistance from West Swan Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade.
16.01.2022 City of swan will be entering their RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD, starting Thursday October 1st. During this period you are not permitted to burn without a burning permit. You may request a permit from your local Permit Issuing Officer. Permits will be available Online or at East Swan Station SUNDAYS from 0900-1100hrs, (With Covid Safe requirements still enforced while on station).... ***Burning a pile of garden refuse in a restricted period.. ie, Non-Permit Burn** The fire must not be lit if the Fire Danger Rating is very high or above, or if a Total Fire Ban or a Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban is declared. The pile being burnt does not exceed ONE CUBIC METRE in size and only ONE pile is alight at any time. No flammable material within five metres of the fire. The fire is only lit between 1800 pm and 2300 pm and completely extinguished by 2359. At least one person capable of controlling the fire is in attendance at all times with adequate means of extinguishing the fire (e.g. garden hose that easily reaches the fire). From 1st Oct 2020, you will be able to apply for a permit online by accessing https://www.swan.wa.gov.au//E/Fire/Burn-Permit-Information ... This will allow rapid approval for burning heaps up to 5 sq m as long as appropriate other criteria are met. You can as an alternative still apply face to face at your local brigade station only during the times listed, refer to the links above.
