24.01.2022 Very interesting

20.01.2022 Im very excited to share some awsome news for 2020 , This little state champ came to the practice at the start of covid with patello femoral pain slowing down her athletic ambitions. Examination revealed poor contact between the big toe and the ground causing a leak of energy and excessive internal rotation of her knee . With a simple modification in her innersoles of her school shoes and runners , and a S&C program for hip and knee drive Ruby overcame her pain, dropped 4s from her 400 m time and took out all her rivals and took the state 400 m title . Earning my champ of the year award Go Ruby

15.01.2022 This picture represents one of those "aha!" moments during the early stages of my fascia education. This of course is a high-resolution electron micrograph of the endomysium, a graphic representation of fascia in it's most delicate of forms as it encapsulates each individual muscle fibre! If you needed reminding of the scope of influence of connective tissue on movement, this illustrates the degree of control fascia exerts at the most fundamental level. This picture is credite...d to Purslow and Trotter (1994) and referenced in Rodriguez and Galan del Rio's 2013 article "Mechanistic basis of manual therapy in myofascial injuries" in JBMT (2013) 17:221-234#fasciaphotoshare#stayfascianated

02.01.2022 I’m a week late in discovering it was Men’s Heath week but I’d like to acknowledge the hard work that these 3 amazing men do. They have soldiered on through the Covid-19 crisis and have been here to help treat, educate and motivate our clients. It’s a very physical and demanding job but they all manage this with a great balance of work, personal life, exercise and good times. Thanks boys for your endless effort, care and empathy!! - - - -... #eastwestphysio #physiohuntershill #physio #menshealth #huntershill #workbalance #greatphysio See more

01.01.2022 It’s hard to BALLieve, but LESS can be way more. What’s the best way to soften your hard body? __ You don’t have to crush your soft-tissues to get them to submi...t. In fact, the more you bully your soft tissues, the more you arouse your body's innate defense mechanism. They brace in response to threat, via the muscle spindle response. Guess what else braces? Other nearby muscles who rally to protect the tissue under a perceived attack. ___ The more you push, the more they push back. So when you’re rolling yourself like you’re ironing your birthday suit, your fascial tissues will likely swell and inflame full of defensive cytokines and make you feel even more swollen & stiff than before. Often as you roll, or stick or whatever, the ouch that you feel is your nervous system kicking into high gear and telling you that you’re pushing too hard, and to please back off. Are you listening? Or BALLdozing through it? ___ I started studying massage at age 18 & practiced self massage to replicate the hands of Masters on my own body. I’ve experimented with every kind of self-massage object; from wood, to metal, rubber, vibration, foam, sports balls, gadgets, you name it. My own subjective experience? Soft is supreme. _ I’ve been a soft-tool dealer for more than a decade, but there have been scant studies on soft tools, it seems like the hard tool brands and sports balls (especially lacrosse balls) have dominated the market and the research. That’s why its so refreshing to finally see superb peer-reviewed research (not pay for placement research!) that exposes the truth about HARD vs. SOFT. ___ The results of this study indicate that therapeutic tools providing gentle pressure are superior to those providing firm pressure.
