23.01.2022 Infinity by Crown Group Working collaboratively with the consultants and the facade contractor (Micos) we were able to provide a solution for the operation of the glass louvres in the common spaces. Paramount to the operation of the louvres was the fail-safe function in fire mode, EBSA selected the CPS-M Smoke Control Panels for this task with the added benefit of being able to offer natural ventilation functions without compromising the need for fail-safe operation. 06.01.2022 Fire Safety through ACB Fire Safety is at the forefront of the construction industry. EBSA/D+H have released a smoke control solution for commercial windows using a new digital communication protocol which improves the safety of occupants in high-rise developments whilst reducing installation costs. With conventional solutions, the building manager relied on quarterly inspections to confirm that the system was operational, but this information was not live and gave no assura...nce except on the service date. This new technology improves fire safety through real-time feedback and communication of error messages. Advanced Communication Bus (ACB), has revolutionised communication between window control systems and actuators. ACB allows the actuators to communicate directly with the control systems and provides real-time feedback about their position, connection status and condition; including any communication dropouts or drive failures, all without extra wiring. The ACB connects up to 20 drives to the fully modular CPS-M smoke vent control panel using one group connector and one cable. Conventional technology requires laying an additional cable and using an additional group plug-in for every ventilation zone. ACB allows every connected actuator tobe operated individually without additional cabling. Reducing cable routing and the number of modules provides a major cost advantage for customers. Additionally, with the use of NSV 401, it is possible during a mains outage to continue controlling and supplying the connected motorised 230 V AC drives for up to 72 hours, ensuring a smart emergency power supply. As a result of integrating ACB technology, direct control of the drives using the building management system can be achieved; thus, enabling remote control and eliminating the need to visit each apartment individually to check the function of each individual drive. Individualised control of multiple drives on a single cable is obtained with accurate position control not achievable with 0-10v analogue solutions. Complete with our CPSM high-level control panel that can be programmed and monitored remotely, we were able to commission the project during the COVID lockdown from Australia. The LF550 is a true operable façade, capable of wide spans and large blade heights which assumes the appearance of a fixed façade when in the closed position. The frameless nature and concealed mullions are attracti...ve features to architects looking to maintain the all-glass look of their developments. Unlike domestic louvres, the LF550 features blade heights up to 600mm and individual spans of up to 1990mm wide. Importantly for commercial projects, the LF550 can accommodate a wide variety of glass configurations from 11.51 up to 21.52mm. The design of the system is such that the glass is positioned to the front (outside) of the mullions not between the mullions as is the case with traditional louvres. This allows for continuous glass spans of up to 5m using intermediate mullions and minimises the exposed aluminium framing. The operating mechanisms, gearboxes and motors are concealed within the louvre frame; furthermore, typical opening angles of up to 80 degrees are achievable. A full perimeter seal provides exceptional air and water tightness and makes the LF550 unique in that it has been certified to AS2047 at the span of 1990mm whilst achieving 700Pa water penetration and extremely low air filtration rates. Due to its design the LF550 returns near glass only acoustic performance, e.g. Rw37 on 12.76mm laminated glass. The system can be manually operated via a geared window or automated with the ability to interface seamlessly with BMS and Fire Systems via a dedicated smoke control interface. 02.01.2022 No 1 Bligh Street - Integrated Louvres provide Natural Ventilation No 1 Bligh Street was one of Australia’s first high-rise buildings with a double-skinned facade incorporating external louvres for natural ventilation. This demanded a unique approach and EBSA's partners Schneider Louvres worked with G.James Glass and Aluminium to provide a solution where the louvre mechanisms are integrated into the curtain wall frames. The result is a facade without secondary louvre framing ...and we are not aware of any other project where this has been done. It is a testament to the innovation between G.James and Schneider Louvres. The EBSA G12 BS (BS = Bligh St) louvre system was born from the hardware developed for this project. EBSA are very proud to still be associated with the project providing the ongoing service and maintenance to all of the louvres on the project; including the ground floor lobby louvres, the Jalousie louvres on level 30 and of course the Schneider G12 BS louvres which span the full height of the internal atrium from level 1 to level 29 and are connected to the BMS and Fire System via our D+H Mechatronic smoke control panels.
