25.01.2022 Lots of lovely wildlife around at the moment. These Tawnys have made their home in the safety of our yard ......... and the Plovers have already laid their eggs out in the paddock! Thanks to John from Wildcare for helping us with an injured Red Legged Pademelon last week - much appreciated!

25.01.2022 Farm Stall topped up with home grown fresh picked produce! Some ready to eat certified organic kiwi fruit and certified organic lemons. We also have the regulars - custard apples, garlic, macadamias, eggs, jams, sauces and our new Rosemary Vinegar - all chemical free!

24.01.2022 Although the Beechmont fire has calmed down for the moment ....... it looks like it will be a long, dry spring - no rain in forecast. This will put a lot of pressure on feed for the animals and the environment in general. The grass is crunchy under our feet and the fire danger is extreme. We all need to be extremely careful of anything we do which may create a spark to start a fire. A big thank you to all our fire fighters all over the country helping to keep us safe.

24.01.2022 Delicious ready to eat kiwi fruit on the Farm Stall! Plenty of custard apples, lemons and maccas. Last few bags of this seasons garlic! Thanks for your support of fresh local chemical free produce!

23.01.2022 Happy thoughts on International Women’s Day!

23.01.2022 New calves ...... and a bit of rain hopefully means some fresh new grass for us here!Plenty of places still have no rain and no grass so if you are able to donate to a cause Rural Aid and The Buy a Bale campaign needs your support ..... more than ever!

23.01.2022 Lots of interesting things happening on the farm right now. The fire across the ridge has settled down thanks to all the fire fighters involved. Whitie the goat is keeping a watch for us....... pruning in the orchard is almost finished and there are plenty of interesting creatures appearing now it is Spring!

22.01.2022 Couldn’t post this video with the other photos Check this out ....... you don’t see this very often! Pruning was a bit more exciting than usual!! These 2 snakes had a public display of affection ..........

21.01.2022 We’ve had a cancellation for the weekend of 26-29 November due to the Covid situation in South Australia! This is the perfect place to cool down on these hot days! You can book direct or via Air BnB!

20.01.2022 These cute little twins were left abandoned under this tree by their Mum for reasons unknown ........ they have joined our older lamb Lilli for the daily bottle feeding routine! Lots of love and fun and they are doing very well!

19.01.2022 We are excited to be starting this years Land for Wildlife project - a couple of kms of stock exclusion and wildlife friendly fencing to keep the cattle out of our beautiful wet sclerophyll forest area. In order to have minimal impact the new fence line is being cleared by hand. Environmental weeds such as Lantana and Cassia are also being removed by hand as part of the project!

19.01.2022 Support Dancing Waters Cafe’s weekend breakfasts and enjoy Echo Valley Farm fresh eggs cooked Ana’s way!! A great new weekend opportunity for Springbrook for locals and visitors alike!!

18.01.2022 Very busy time of year! We are getting on top of fireweed again with some help from enthusiastic international travellers - the best way to remove fireweed is to hand pull every plant before the flowers go to seed! This is the first year we have managed to cover the whole property ....... and we are finally feeling like we are winning this battle against this toxic weed!

18.01.2022 Kiwi Fruit season has begun ..... we now have $5 bags for sale on the Farm Stall. These are the Bruno variety which are longer and darker than the more well known Haywards which will be available for sale in the next week or so. All are ACO certified organic and very delicious and very good for you!! Remember they are freshly picked and can take a while to ripen.... best kept in a warm place on the kitchen bench and eaten when just beginning to soften. Enjoy!!

17.01.2022 Majority of kiwi fruit sold to organic wholesalers, United Organics. Some will be available locally for the next few weeks on the Farm Stall and Dancing Waters Cafe. Leaf drop has begun and pruning is underway.

16.01.2022 Wet, wild and windy here at Echo Valley! Great to see some rain! Dams and creek were empty yesterday and crazy full today!! The rain gauge ran over at 160mm during the night so we don’t have a total for here! So far just one big cypress pine tree down on the fence in the house garden..... hopefully no more ....... but this one will give lots of kindling on the Farm Stall for the next year!

16.01.2022 Fresh farm eggs from our beautiful hens now for sale on the Echo Valley Farm Stall. $3.50 for 1/2 doz and $6 for 1 doz.

16.01.2022 What a week here at Echo Valley. After a very cold very windy few days we had the biggest coldest frost weve had for a long time! Good news for the kiwi fruit for chilling hours ....... but not so great for young animals and newborns! These 3 calves have needed some extra help in difficult times. On top of this Springbrook had a successful controlled burn but unfortunately another fire sprung up which developed into a much bigger wildfire with many firefighters called in to help. All is under control at the moment so we can enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

16.01.2022 Who said farm animals don’t have personalities? This little lamb has Mum totally under the thumb!!

15.01.2022 We’ve had a couple of cancellations so this weekend and a couple in the middle of November are now available ..... just in case you need some fresh air and quiet time in a beautiful country setting! You can book direct or via Air BnB.

14.01.2022 Great to get some rain at last! 15mm in the rain gauge this morning! No-one wanting to get out of bed today!! Now hopefully the rain spreads and other places in desperate need get some too! So nice to hear it on the roof!

13.01.2022 Who said farm animals dont have personalities? This little lamb has Mum totally under the thumb!!

13.01.2022 Lots of water! 150mm last night and the rain keeps falling! Dams suddenly full, creeks running fast and drains overflowing! Bit hard keeping animal pens and ourselves dry ...... but dogs are loving it as are the frogs!!

13.01.2022 Teeth, toenails and worms! Along with the pedicure the goats got a bit of a health check as well!!

13.01.2022 Nature is amazing! One minute this little plover was running around ....... next minute it vanished completely........ a closer look showed that it had hunched up in the grass and looked like every other piece of cow poo in the paddock! Its’ camouflage was incredible! What a great survival technique!!

13.01.2022 Lots of eggs available from our free range hens! Free range egg cartons needed - drop off at Stall if you have some to spare! Plenty of other things happening on the farm such as more beautiful lambs and calves being born, a bit of nice rain getting things growing and flowering again and lovely wildlife activity!

12.01.2022 Love is all you need!! Hope you all have a great Valentines Day!

12.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all the Mums in the world!!

11.01.2022 We are now selling chook food on the Echo Valley Farm Stall for $25 per bag. After many trials we now think this is the best chook food with the most reliable supply that we can find! It is 17% protein for best egg laying (cheaper foods are only 10% protein). Sorghum free so no artificial yolk colour. It contains no restricted animal material (RAM) and has added lime to strengthen shells. It is also 100% non-genetically modified Australian grain. Chooks love it, come easily into their pens at night, are healthy and lay lots of eggs! There is one bag on the Stall at all times; if more is needed message or call to organise.

11.01.2022 Many thanks to the thoughtful people who return egg cartons and firewood bags. This helps keep the price down for everyone and reduce waste. We found this coffee cup in the bottom of a bag of egg cartons and presume someone might be missing her??? We will put her out on the stall to see if she can find her way home!! Thanks

09.01.2022 This week we've picked all our Wild Harvest Dexter Kiwi Fruit - all chemical-free but from our non-certified organic part of the farm! We have also started picking fruit from the main ACO certified orchard - Bruno and Hayward. Brix testing measures the sugar content of the fruit; a sugar reading of more than 6.5 means the fruit will be very tasty - all of ours tested before picking are between 7 and 8 so will be delicious and sweet! We have sorted, packed and delivered our first order for Food Connect Brisbane - they are selling Dexters and Brunos only at this stage; Haywards will be coming soon! All varieties will soon be available from various outlets including our farm stall! Eat local and know where your food comes from!!

09.01.2022 42 black cockatoos counted flying over the farm the other day ...... so maybe lots more rain to come!! Chickens and goats sharing space to stay dry!! Wet grass, mud and sore feet are the current norm!!

08.01.2022 The bushfire in Binna Burra, Beechmont and Canungra has been building up over the last few days ........ it is over the ridge from us but moving quickly especially with the gusty windy dry conditions. Springbrook is ok at the moment ....... low risk that it will reach us ...... but we need to be prepared with all the essentials like food, drinking water, toilet paper ....... and keep our pets, livestock, family & friends safe.......

08.01.2022 Wow! Great start to 2020 with 170mm in the rain gauge by 7am this morning! Our waterways have not looked like this for a long time!

08.01.2022 Hot dry weather continues after a brief respite of two short storms totalling an exciting 42mm! Animals and plants enjoyed the soaking while it lasted but the very strong westerly winds that followed were like a hair drier and evaporated most of it already! Another 200mm would be wonderful!!

02.01.2022 Thanks to one of our local wildlife experts for advising us of the dangers of 15mm square black bird netting for wildlife such as bats, possums and birds particularly at night getting caught in the nets and either sustaining terrible injuries or dying a cruel death. After investigating this further we found good information on the Wires.org.au website about wildlife friendly netting. As a result we are in the process of replacing the black nets with one of the white nets they recommend. To ensure safety of the wildlife we do check netted trees twice a day anyway! FYI they recommend white netting with openings of no more than 5mm.

02.01.2022 Kiwi Fruit season is finished but we are lucky to have plenty of Chemical-Free Macadamia Nuts this year! Our trees are in all stages of fruiting at the moment from flowering through to mature nuts for sale on the Farm Stall. They are easy to use and very safe for all ages.

01.01.2022 White Cockatoo damage yet again - at least 22 counted feasting away in the paddock nearby - means if we dont do something well have no lemons again! So we spent Saturday covering as many trees as we could to try and deter them!

01.01.2022 Our Farmstay is closed until further notice due to Covid-19 and associated restrictions but we are busy caring for our animals and growing food. Our Farm Stall is open everyday with fresh eggs, garlic, jams, sauces and bags of firewood. Keep safe and be mindful of everyones health - limit touching and wash your hands often!

01.01.2022 Thanks everyone for your wishes. We are ok at the moment on our farm and so is Springbrook. Unfortunately Beechmont and Binna Burra have not been so lucky. It is very sad to see that Binna Burra Lodge has been destroyed after surviving for 85 years!

01.01.2022 Keeping cool on the farm .....

01.01.2022 Bushfires all around again ........ we are ok at the moment ...... on high alert as everything so hot and dry ......... especially for Springbrook!
