25.01.2022 We are delighted as our stunning Billie has found a home already! Peter and Denise Smith saw Billie’s photo before she was put up for adoption and knew this was the cat for them. It was decided that Billie would have a trial run for a few days this last week to see if she got also going to get along with resident cat Blue. And guess what? Adoption was finalised yesterday - congratulations !! We are very happy for Billie, she is a gorgeous cat and has gone to a wonderful h...ome. Blue now has a sister, and is a real snuggler for her new owner Denise. Looking forward to updates

24.01.2022 A morning conversation between two new friends! "I am going to stand here all day Sadie and watch in case someone is coming to adopt me. I do like you guys though, you are pretty cool, but I would really love to have my own furever home like you." "I will stay here with you Luna and help you keep watch. I know what it's like when you are waiting and hoping for someone to take you home. You are pretty cool too, and I don't think it will be long before someone comes along."

24.01.2022 Now available for adoption is Spunky Spud, one of the four of our adorable kitties. Also known as Spunky Ninja Spud! This little darling is so ready to fall in love with YOU as you will with her. Spud has had all her vetwork completed and is rarin to go! Her chip number is 956000013385623, source number EE100512. 23.01.2022 Another adoption that makes our hearts melt! Our beautiful Taylor has been adopted and will spend the rest of her days being cuddled and loved. We can imagine the sound of much contented purring coming from her new furever home. Thank you Jaala and Tom for opening your arms, hearts and home to our Taylor; and well done Leeann for your expert fostering

22.01.2022 WE NEED YOUR HELP AGAIN! Only THIS time we are in need of DOG FOSTER CARERS! Due to the fact that some of our dog foster carers are busy with the Whippet X puppies, and the Greyhounds, we are waiting in anticipation for the request that we offer a foster home, or two, to dogs that will be in need of a new home at some time in the future. And we are afraid that we won't be able to accept them We are not asking anyone to foster continually, just this once would be gre...at. However, you may find that you would like to foster for a little while; totally up to you. Fostering a companion animal is a most rewarding experience as you would find out. Food and equipment is provided, as well as any advice on training and any other support you may need. PLEASE give this some thought! It will make such a difference for a dog who now finds himself homeless. Call Denise on 0439 518 579 if you interested or would like to know more about fostering fogs like little Ralphy and Jeffy. Ralphy and Jeffy are just two little dogs that suddenly found themselves without a family and surrendered to a pound, and because we had enough foster carers we were able to take them in to care. Needless to say they have long since found loving forever homes. When you are part of this experience you will find that it is most rewarding and fulfilling; to think that you enabled a pet to experience a happy and loving forever future

22.01.2022 DOG FOSTER CARERS NEEDED "They are our best friends, our constant companions, members of our family. They are always happy to see us and always listen to what ever we have to say, they never judge or betray us. Anyone who has shared their life with a companion animal knows that feeling of unconditional love and loyalty and the simple moments of pure joy these beautiful animals bring us." Imagine how you would feel if you were responsible for uniting a beautiful dog with a ...loving family so they could experience this love and companionship? Well, you can find out by becoming a dog foster carer. We are a recognised and respected rescue group and we are dedicated to fostering and rehoming the animals who come to us through no fault of their own, and YOU could be part of our amazing team. Long term or short term, it doesn’t matter, you choose. Being a foster carer is so rewarding and gives one such a feeling of fulfilment. Food and equipment is provided, as well as any advice on training and any other support you may need. PLEASE give this some thought! It will make such a difference for a dog who now finds himself homeless. Call Denise on 0439 518 579 if you interested. Bundy, Simba, Wilson and Bronson were some more dogs that have come into our care in the past and are now living such happy lives; all possible because people cared enough to become a foster carer!!

21.01.2022 Here is an exciting update from our very first remote ISO adopters of our sweet boy Ace: From new dad Tuff: Hi EARS. I’m a little jealous as Ace just loves my wife Holly more than me! His cheeky side is coming out more now that he’s used to being with us and we just love him. We’d ordered a harness for him before he got here and it finally arrived today! How cute does he look in his avocado harness?! He’s a very happy member of our house and many thanks for arranging s...uch a great adoption under difficult conditions. Yes, it was a very successful adoption carried out by his foster carer! "It’s just delightful that we managed a great adoption without the usual meet and greets. It was a bit tricky, but after lots of FaceTime, photos, phone calls and messages and we’ve had a very nice young boy adopted by a lovely young couple. Ace has his own Instragram page now. You can follow his adventures on Ace of Spades. Sign in added to post! Ace of Spades- much love

21.01.2022 ANOTHER PUP UPDATE. This pup is a bit older now - 3 years old and still good looking! "Hello! It’s been three years since Freddie came to live with me (5/11) and I wanted to send you some updated photos. He is doing very well and as handsome as ever. Thanks Carmel!"... Just the sort of update we love! Thank you Carmel

20.01.2022 A FRIENDLY REMINDER THAT TIME IS RUNNING OUT! If you are interested in adopting one of our gorgeous little Whippet X puppies, Blackjack (BJ) 956000010453619, Petal 956000010495767, Charlie 956000010449135, Jack 9560000104964469 and Nya 956000010933443, applications close TOMORROW 30 September. For an Expression of Interest form please email [email protected]

20.01.2022 Right about now the little, well not so little now, whippet X puppies, will be meeting and greeting the families chosen to adopt them. You remember them; BJ, Petal, Jack, Charlie and Nya. We have had such pleasure in sharing the lovely photos from their foster carers as they have grown, and to read the love you all had for them. Now if you were one of the many, and we say MANY, people who applied, please understand how difficult this process has been for the foster carers! ...Every application was read, and as is the case, was narrowed down to match the needs of the puppies with the family. So much is taken into consideration with adoptions, and every time a forever family is chosen, it is with a touch of sadness for those who weren’t successful. We KNOW there are many families who would have been suitable, but a decision has to be made. Please acknowledge the foster carers for the amazing job they have done with their little charges. They have been responsible for nurturing them through their puppy stages; preparing them for their future, and they have all done a wonderful job. It will be very hard for them to say goodbye. They know their puppies so well, and have had to choose the right family. It hasn’t been easy for them to make a choice, but they have. We hope that you will wish these little ones all the best as they begin their future lives with their forever families with we are sure, much wonder and excitement. Thank you for accompanying us on their journey AND THE FIRST ONE TO FLY THE NEST IS BJ!! And just like that he was gone! By now BJ will be travelling back down the Northern Highway to his new home. Pauline, Elise and Brian came all the way from Gippsland to pick up BJ today. He took a little while to warm up to them but at the end was much more relaxed - and even a bit sleepy. I hope you behave yourself on your ride home BJ because there is going to be a young girl and a Keplie very excited to meet you at the other end. Best of luck!

20.01.2022 FUNDRAISING DATES 2020 Please note that that due to Covid -19 all fundraising events have been cancelled until further notice. Stay safe, see you on the other side

19.01.2022 Another adoption that makes our hearts melt! Our beautiful Taylor has been adopted and will spend the rest of her days being cuddled and loved. 19.01.2022 Meet TAYLOR Our stunning Taylor is a 3 year old female Domestic Short Hair tabby, and within only a few weeks has made a great impression on her faster carer. "Taylor is such a beautiful girl who will make a great family pet. She is friendly and loving to whomever meets her. After a couple of days settling in to foster care she quickly found her confidence and has made friends with the resident cat and dogs. She even impressed the vet with her temperament when having her ...vaccinations! Taylor is quiet and independent but loves to come up for a cuddle on the couch. She also loves to sit on the window sill and look outside. She is not a fussy eater and is a very easy cat to have around." You couldn't ask for much better than that, could you? To make Taylor part of your family please send an email to Denise at earsfurbies.gmail.com for an Expression of Interest form. Taylor has been desexed, vaccinated and microchipped 956000013073793; Source number EE100512.

The time has come that is for her little Polly to explore life in the greater world and to look for her furever family. POLLY is around two months old and is an absolutely adorable little snuggle mate. She has a good balance between being affectionate and wanting her own space. Chelsea hasn’t been with her foster carer for very long and already she has shown just what a sweet little feline she is! She is great with the resident dog and mixes well with the other cats. Chelsea loves her tummy and eats well. She is now sleeping on her blanket which is on the bed and loves to play. She will make a wonderful companion for her fure...ver family as she makes friends easily. Little Chelsea is only 18 months old and her adoption fee is $100. Her microchip number is 991001002472386; Source number is EE100512.

17.01.2022 MEET MR WABBY! Mr Wabby is a lovely young rabbit, a male Norwegian/Swedish lop. He is a lovely colour blend of white with ginger feet and a band of ginger around his rump. He has blue eyes (red in photos) and is easily handled. My Wabby gets along well with my four dogs and cat. He is very friendly and is a nice young bunny which makes him an ideal pet for younger children. ... Bear in mind that rabbits are a very social animal, and prefer to live inside with their family; not stuck outside in a cage on the lawn. They can also be toilet trained! Naturally we are looking for the right home for Mr Wabby and as we are offering this handsome boy for no charge a donation to EARS would be gratefully accepted. If you would like to give Mr Wabby a furever home, send an email to [email protected] for an Expression of Interest form, or simply call Denise on 0439 518 579 for more information

16.01.2022 Well, another foster carer is preparing to go through the usual emotions we feel after we have loved and nurtured a foster, and then have to say goodbye. And that's how Emma is feeling right now because her stunning girl SOCKSY is preparing to find a furever home. Boy it was hard to choose only a few photos of this 4 years old beauty so we thought we would include a few more! After all, Socksy seems to have all the moves and poses of a model and seemed to thoroughly enjoy o...ur photographer taking her photo Read the words from her foster carer and you will be soooo tempted: "This little smoocher is ready for her furever home now, as much as she will be missed!!! Socksy has come along in leaps and bounds. She is happy to be out during the day, enjoys many snuggles and has a cute morning breakfast ritual with my son. Socksy is a wonderful smoocher who loves to snuggle on the couch or anywhere you are! She is so gentle and loving, after a quiet start in our home with 2 young boys she has now fit right in! She loves to nuzzle her head right into you and loves to play and do 'high fives' with the kids, and when she's had enough she loves a snooze on anything that smells like you. She has so much love to give and would suit anyone willing to give her relaxing snuggles. We feel excited for her but sad for us." What is it about mature cats? All they want is your loving and snuggling, showing their contentment by purring away with their little purring machines. The curtains can stay in one piece and they certainly are past being tripped over! Socksy has had all her vet work completed and her chip number is 956000012268863. Source number is EE100512. Please send an email to [email protected] for an expression of interest form PRESENTING MISS SOCKSY

16.01.2022 Echuca Animal Rescue Service (EARS) is a community-based, not for profit organisation, focused on rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming our companion animals. We don't receive any funding; we rely heavily on fundraising events, financial donations and much needed donations which include bedding, equipment such as leads and collars, flea/worm medications and pet food. Imagine our delight when we received some generous donations from Pets Domain. A BIG THANK YOU to Denise and the team for a timely donation of cat food, worming and flea treatments for the animals currently in care. These small things make a big difference at the moment especially when we are unable to fundraise which as you know brings in much needed funds. Thank you again!!

She even tried joining her foster carer in the bath, but that didn't work out Isabelle will make an ideal companion for an older person wanting a lap cat. Good with other cats, n...ot so keen on little kids as she is a bit timid. She has not had any exposure to dogs. Isabelle has had all her network done and her Microchip number is 956000010427806, source number is EE100512. 13.01.2022 URGENT! WE NEED YOUR HELP! CAT FOSTER CARERS NEEDED! Seven sweet little souls are RIGHT NOW in need of a safe place to rest their little heads just for a short while until they have been adopted. They are all indoor cats and have been very well looked after and are most affectionate. A huge bonus is that they are dog and children friendly too! We are not asking anyone to foster continually, just this once would be great. However, you may find that you would like to fost...er for a little while; totally up to you. Fostering a little pet is a most rewarding experience as you would find out. Food and equipment is provided,, as well as any advice and/or support you may need. PLEASE give this some thought! 13.01.2022 CHELSEA UPDATE When you foster an animal you put a in lot of love and affection. So when that animal has been adopted and we receive an update from the successful family, it is rewarding, especially for the foster carer to read, in this case for Leeann "Thank you again for allowing us to adopt Chelsea. She is doing really well and has settled in really nicely. We all adore her, especially my daughter who has taken prime carer responsibility and loving it. ... Chelsea is incredibly playful and cheeky. She is really making her personality known which of course means taking control of the humans in the house which is fabulous. She and my dog get on really well and while she’s not exactly on full speaking terms with my older cat, they do sit near each other." And it probably won't be long before she wins her over! Wonderful news, and a fabulous update

12.01.2022 SIMBA and DIANA Now there are so many feline lovers out there who just adore those stunning ginger cats; and just as many who favour the beautifully marked tabby cats. Now Simba, a stunning ginger boy, and Diane, a beautifully marked tabby gal, just need someone who loves both gingers and tabbies to adopt them! And then you can have one of each. And an instant feline family You see, Simba and Dianna are a bonded pair and it would be cruel to seperate them seeing as th...ey have lived and played together for many years; that is, they are besties!! Sometimes pets come into rescue groups together; and need to be adopted together. Now this is the case with Simba and Diana. We are not going to split them as we know there is a furever family out there who will adopt them together. They are well trained and settled, and ready to just snuggle and cuddle and be your companions. Simba (956000010431866) with the gorgeous fluffy white chest, is 4 years old but as rambunctious as a kitten and loves playing with whatever is on hand, when he eventually gets tired though he just wants to snuggle on your lap or curl up in the sun all day. AWESOME! Diana (956000008745863) with the stunning green eyes, is an 8 year old tabby and once she decides you’re her human she smooches all the time, rubbing you all over and following you around. AWESOME AGAIN! Simba and Diana are Domestic Short Hair Cats and are litter trained, desexed and vaccinated with an adoption fee of only $100. These two friends will be best suited to a home without dogs or small children, as the louder your household is the more Diana may keep to herself. Well we can understand that! So if you are an experienced cat lover, looking for some great company and would like an instant feline family - these two besties are the cats for you. In return for giving them a home together they will reward you with heavenly company, many cuddles, snuggles and purring! If you are interested, you will need to send an email to Denise at [email protected] for an Expression of Interest form, or, if you would like more information give Denise a call on 0439 518 579. Oh, and Simba and Diana would appreciate it if you could share this post; they are longing to find their furever family

11.01.2022 ALRIGHT!! THE ICONIC BUNNINGS BARBECUE FUNDRAISER IS BACK ON AGAIN! And we are delighted! We now have confirmation that the Echuca Bunnings favourite BBQ fundraiser is on for THIS SUNDAY 10 January commencing at 8.30 am. Can you imagine how we feel knowing that we now have the opportunity to fundraise after being in shutdown for so long? We now have the chance to replenish our coffers, which have been slowly draining. There is a strict procedure to be followed, and our Pr...esident has been to the induction held by Bunnings to provide instruction on the new COVID safe set up. The good news is we now have more space to move about with two gazebos. Masks and gloves must be worn and surfaces cleaned down every hour. And to fill you in on the new procedure and what to expect there are 4 roles that will be filled by our members throughout the day. . The Welcome person - they get to sit down and help direct customers where to go and how to queue . The Order person- takes money and calls orders back. . The Cook - self explanatory . The Prep person - puts orders together and hands them to the customer. So you see, a very organised and safe procedure which makes for a safe fundraiser, and makes your shopping much more enjoyable. But of course WE NEED YOU to come along and gives us much needed support, knowing that you will be safe while supporting us and your tummy Thought we would provide you with some tempting images to get your tummy juices flowing! You can almost smell it can't you? Will we see you there?

11.01.2022 WE JUST DON'T WANT THEM! And you, our animal welfare advocates spoke! You were the voice for the animals! And if they could express how they feel about you they would! THANK YOU a million times on their behalf! You just need to remember; the power is in OUR hands! An extract from Oscar's Law: "URGENT: Puppy farms should be closing; NOT expanding!... Amey’s Puppies is a puppy farm that has operated in Victoria since 2010. Under threat of Victoria’s new legislation, they applied for and were granted a permit to keep 80 dogs and puppies on a property in Moama, New South Wales. Now they are attempting to keep BOTH businesses open by applying for a permit to keep 150 dogs and puppies in Victoria. This means they would have 230 dogs and puppies between the two properties - an enormous welfare issue." And we won! WE have to be the voice for the voiceless! And we were!

10.01.2022 We have four new little bundles in care at the moment and they are being thoroughly spoilt. These little cuties are not ready for adoption yet but we will let you know when! In the meantime we will keep you updated with photos of their growth - and cuteness!

10.01.2022 Sometimes pets come into rescue groups together; that is they are a bonded pair. Now this is the case with Simba and Diana. AWESOME! Diana (956000008745863) is an 8 year old tabby and is much more shy. She can be often found hidden away, however once she decides you’re her human she is smooches all the time, rubbing all over and following you around. AWESOME AGAIN! Simba and Diana are Domestic Short Hair Cats and are litter trained, desexed and vaccinated with an adoption fee of only $150. 10.01.2022 "On the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month We Will Remember Them" November 11th is Remembrance Day. At 11.00 am a minute of silence is scheduled to remember the sacrifices and lives lost of all those men and women who participated to give us freedom from oppression. Please also remember the many animals who were sacrificed and used for different purposes in the wars; the horses, donkeys, dogs, cats, camels and birds who served the armed forces and helped our soldiers survive and gave them some wonderful companionship at the same time. And of course we include those people, animals and wildlife who also lost their lives killed by bombs and/or lack of food, water and shelter, to the pets left behind in panicked evacuations. LEST WE FORGET

10.01.2022 Can you believe this? We need to do all we can to stop it! Send an objection to Murray River Council now: https://www.oscarslaw.org/cam/stop-mega-moama-puppy-factory

09.01.2022 LUNA Just look at this stunning little honey bun!! Wouldn't you love to have her snuggled up on your knee after a busy day at work? With beautiful bewitching eyes, black glossy coat and a thick tail, and a very elegant pose, this little lady is to die for! Lovely Luna is looking for a new furever home after coming back into care two days ago. We adopted her out as a 5 month old kitten in April so now she is about 10 months old. Her owner had to move back in with her fam...ily but unfortunately the older cat didn't approve!! Her foster carers are delighted with her and have this to say about her: "She’s a sweet little thing, very friendly and happily resting in a nice warm bed after having something to eat. She had a good night, slept well and is exploring the house this morning, not bothered by our dogs at all. 07.01.2022 WE JUST DON'T WANT THEM!

05.01.2022 Echuca Animal Rescue Service is a community-based, not for profit organisation focused on fostering and rehoming companion animals. We rely solely on dedicated foster carers and volunteers, fundraising, donations, community grants and generous community support which includes donations of food, monitory donations, bedding and medical supplies to help fulfil our commitment. So you can imagine our surprise this week when our President and her daughter discovered a marvellous ...resource for us in local Echuca. ARC are a charity that supply WIRES, and other animal rescues with food and medical supplies. As a result of this meeting they went home with a wagon filled to the brim with dog food, cat food, bowls, kitten milk and sachets for bottle feeding, flea and worm treatment and soft toys. Because we haven’t been able to fundraise this is huge and saves us a heap on food and medical bills. Thank you so much ARC for this amazing donation, it will help us for quite some time. We are in awe of the work you do to support groups like ours as well as wildlife organisations. You rock! Petbarn #Petbarnfoundation #thankyouARC

02.01.2022 Rescue groups have been horrified to learn of the relocation of Victorian puppy farmers into NSW. In a recent EARS post we alerted you to the news that Echuca and Moama communities have been devastated to learn that the Murray River Council in New South Wales have received applications from some of these 'establishments' and are mortified that Moama is in danger of becoming the puppy farming capital in NSW. Local Echuca rescue group, Campaspe and River Murray Animal Rehomi...ng (CARMAR) have been very active in protesting along with Oscar’s Law and Emma Hurst AJP. As result the Murray River Council held a meeting to discuss the gravity of these cruel puppy farms along with local community’s response, and a successful outcome was reached. We would like to thank CARMAR for their commitment to animal welfare and who have generously allowed us to share their post; we hope after reading it you give sigh of relief. Keep vigilant! And remember; ADOPT! DON'T SHOP!
