22.01.2022 2020 has been a year of unprecedented circumstances due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The disruption to children during their #kindergarten year has been met with concerns amongst families about having their children ‘ready’ to enter into school in 2021. The Department of Education & Training, Victoria have recognised these concerns and have been working with kindergartens and schools to ensure that children will not be disadvantaged as they transition into Prep next year. 17.01.2022 In May 2020, the NDIA launched the #ECEI Implementation Reset project to address the identified challenges and implement recommendations. Four public consultation documents have been released to help explain the proposed changes to the NDIS, how the changes may work and what these changes will mean for participants, children and families. ECIA VIC/TAS will hold a sector consultation at our upcoming Online Members Network Forum (final forum for 2020!) on 17 December to help shape our submission response. 17.01.2022 Grants of up to $5,000 will be available for #kindergarten services to help those children who have returned to on-site learning by getting the most out of kinder and to make a positive transition to school. This means services will be able to fund more kindergarten programs and to help enable access to allied health support such as speech pathologists and occupational therapists. Kinders can also use grants to fund additional educator hours to help ensure staff can undertak...e transition activities and / or provide more one-on-one time with children. Treatment will depend on what’s found during an assessment and based children's needs. Usually, it involves helping children to function better by working on activities they are struggling with. 07.01.2022 Earlier this year, Autism CRC conducted the "Synthesis of Evidence for Autism Early Intervention Approaches" Review to uncover answers to questions regarding the effects of early interventions on outcomes for children with autism, their parents and caregivers. Information from this review and stakeholder consultation, including discussions with ECIA VIC/TAS, will enable the NDIS to fund the most beneficial and ethical services for children on the autism spectrum during their ...early development.
