25.01.2022 Even the climate change sceptics along with all the rest of us, will benefit from a complete conversion to clean renewables with a sustainable and environmental appreciation of our planet.

25.01.2022 Checkout one of our new designs! The North facing verandah is a new sleek solar panel arrangement, providing shade and power!

24.01.2022 Timber is a sustainable building material. Most of the energy used in the production of building materials is derived from fossil fuels, and embodied energy is a significant indicator of a materials impact on the carbon cycle. As timber and other forest products are largely made from atmospheric carbon, they do not have the same relationship between embodied energy and the carbon cycle as other building materials. The capacity of a tree or forest to absorb carbon declines with age, as growth slows and the decay of organic material increases releasing C02. Therefore, continuing to plant plantation forests not only supply us with a versatile and sustainable building material but also assists the planet in reducing Carbon Dioxide

24.01.2022 With an aim to sustainably create and build homes that compliment your site and work in harmony with the environment. Making your life more comfortable whilst protecting our environment for future generations are high priorities. Our goal is to inspire clients who want to lower their environmental impact and by investing in effective energy efficient systems, employing passive solar design and orientation in the creation of your home. You can have peace of mind knowing the long term benefits to our environment and community, which also prove to be a sound financial investment.

23.01.2022 When you build your home with the optimum orientation, it enables you to design a home which can continue season after season, year after year to utilise the sun to passively heat your home during the winter months when the sun is lower in the sky (down to 40 degrees at the winter solstice). During the summer months, utilising the eaves overhang, entrance verandah and planting deciduous plants in specific locations, will shade the windows and house to prevent the suns heat entering your home ( you can see the shade in this photo taken in September, which is the middle of Spring). When however, you really want to make the most of a great view, as with the previous post, but the large window in the farm house that we built, in this photo is facing east. So whilst it can allow winter sun in, by using e-glass it will also resist summer sun.

23.01.2022 With respect to passive solar design and with orientation in mind, we can best utilise the seasonal sun paths, so in the winter the sun passively heats the building. This includes consideration to the size and positioning of the windows. Meanwhile in warmer months, we can employ carefully considered positioning of shading devices such as eaves, verandahs screens and even landscaping, including planting deciduous trees. To use knowledge of local environmental conditions to harness prevailing breezes to naturally cool buildings and utilise air currents within a building to create thermal chimneys that remove hot air.

22.01.2022 During these dry times and drought there is an obvious benefit to installing a new Greywater Recycling System to your house while it is being built that offers a continuous supply of useable water. Modelling data suggests that more than 20% saving can be achieved with a 1000 litre tank collecting both bathroom and laundry grey water and only supplying both garden uses and toilet flushing.

22.01.2022 Regardless of where you stand on Climate Change or Pollution of the planet, the economic and employment advantages are obvious!

20.01.2022 Installation of solar panels and battery storage is not only clean energy but even an attractive financial investment for the climate change sceptics as well as good power backup for when we experience blackouts due to weather events such as cyclones or any other reason.

19.01.2022 Sustainable materials are selected on a life cycle basis, considering environmental impacts during procurement, sourcing sustainably-harvested products with low embodied energy. Looking at selecting timber from local plantation forests, distance required to travel for manufacturing and then distance supplied to site, the product use and its long term durability and quality. You can also investigate the use of prefabricated materials and structures to maximise speed and efficiency of construction, improve affordability and minimise material wastage.

18.01.2022 Moving in the right direction, even a huge oil and gas company like Santos is investing into the solar revolution and they wouldn't do it if it didn't make financial sense, let alone the environmental benefit.

14.01.2022 We are pleased to offer a free site consultation and evaluation to prospective clients. We would initially meet on your block of land and discuss with you what your ideas are for your dream home. With that information we look at how we can position the house for optimum passive solar orientation. The more information we gather from you allows us to form design concepts that would meet your needs. For more information go to our website http://ecoconceptconstructions.com.au

13.01.2022 This is great news, using German manufacturing technology, built by Australians in Australia providing jobs and a quality product in an expanding market for renewable energy

12.01.2022 The main object or goal we are aiming to offer our clients is to custom Eco Home Designs that will suit 'your particular block, taking into account the environmental conditions and of course to your budget. We realise many Project Builders can offer a specific design at a fixed price, but will that 'off the shelf design' suit your block? Will it be very expensive to 'run' and will it have the decent resale value you're hoping for? Even if you don't believe in any global warming or energy efficiency, what if you had a home built that would cost nothing to run and had future proofed your investment and asset value & resale down the track?

12.01.2022 When considering ways we can commit to reducing water consumption, how to limit water used in our buildings through water-efficient appliances and fittings and even in the landscaping with drought-tolerant indigenous plants. Ensuring water sensitive design principles, to harvest rainwater and the installation of a recycle grey water unit to minimise our reliance on precious fresh water for tasks such as washing, showering, flushing and garden watering. The main sources of grey water are from the bathroom and laundry. Greywater does offer the advantage over rainwater systems of a continuous supply available during dry periods. The potential water savings of more than 20% saving can be made with a 1000 litre tank collecting both bathroom and laundry grey water and only suppling both garden uses and toilet flushing.

11.01.2022 Sustainable building practice can be as easy as buying Australian made. We are very fortunate in Australia, with it's vast and diverse landscapes, it offers and provides us with ample resources to supply us with virtually any building raw material. Also with our high standards in quality we can purchase building products manufactured here in Australia with confidence in it's quality, performance, durability and even it's accountability. It makes sense to be buying quality bui...lding materials produced locally (or at least as local as possible), minimising transport costs. We may initially pay a little more for a local product than an imported one but once we realise we are getting often many more years of reliable service and durability, it's easy to see the financial benefit in buying locally made, with the added bonus of providing local employment. 10.01.2022 The future will see whole estates and even communities around Australia connected this way, collecting and storing, reliable and ongoing power for every household in the community to use.

09.01.2022 The impact of glazing to the thermal performance of a building is significant and complex. When designing your new home we can advise you on glazing selections that will provide the best thermal performance for each location on all the external walls.

08.01.2022 Not all of the homes we build are designed by us and the home in this photo was designed by the owner to capture a beautiful view of the Glass House Mountains and it is spectacular. Unfortunately the windows at the front of the house were facing west so to restrict the hot western sun from heating up the house too much on those hot summer afternoons, we installed 6.38mm laminated e-glass tinted to the front windows, 40% of solar heat is transmitted and 70% of visible light is transmitted. But given the house had a raked ceiling with louvres at the top, cooling breezes effectively and efficiently removed unwanted heat, leaving this home cool in the summer evenings and nights. Simply close the louvers in winter to retain and solar gain, retaining warmth in a well insulated house.

03.01.2022 Matching the T&G flooring and the decking material, using an Australian species, called Turpentine which is endemic to the region where this home was built in Maleny.

02.01.2022 This it what is needed, progressive forward thinking councils and developers to design their estates with blocks of land that offer optimum orientation for solar passive house designs.
