People want... free news but reality is that nothing is ever free. You always end up paying someone. The government want taxes, media companies want revenue for intellectual property (IP) and related advertisement. What Google wants, well who knows? Can news be controlled like music, books and video using the rules and laws around IP and royalties. It is a proven solution and works. In Australia we have the Australian Performing Rights Association which helps manage this issue for creators. Maybe we need to go that way for news as well. Is the Australia Governments proposed law too broad and have no measures for control and management. That is one opinion.
