20.01.2022 EDAP, in conjunction with the Rural Planning Help Line and Edge Land Planning are holding a four day short course on Rural Development Assessment, The course will be offered in two modules of two days each and is to be run in: Wagga Wagga - 29 & 30 July, 19/20 August The short course is focused on the assessment of development applications for rural and urban land and will be presented by Ian Sinclair and Dr Peter Williams.

15.01.2022 Just a reminder for this week’s EDAP Dubbo Conference which starts tomorrow, Wednesday 27 April at 6.00pm at the Old Dubbo Gaol Macquarie Street Dubbo with welcome drinks and nibbles and also an interesting presentation from Mike Blake on the Rectification of Rising Damp Also the NSWFood Authority/Combined Western Groups Meeting at 12noon on Wednesday 27 April in the Oxley Room at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre Darling Street Dubbo Registrations for... the conference will be taken from 8.30am at the conference venue on Thursday 28 April at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre Darling Street Dubbo A barista coffee cart will be on hand at the conference registration area An expanded trade exhibition this year, please attend the trade exhibitors stands and make yourself known to the exhibitors as the exhibitors are the ones which make the conference possible and your support of the exhibitors and sponsors is encouraged . Delegates this year are asked to bring their own delegate bag and collect relevant delegate information and goodies from the registration desk. The committee have taken this step to ensure less waste & control costs. Bags will be available for those that are unaware or forget. A revised program is attached

Dr Cameron Webb (University of Sydney and NSW Health Pathology) & Stephen Doggett (NSW Health Pathology) 9:30 10:15 The pest and public health risks of mosquitoes An overview of the potential pest and public health risks associated with Australian mosquitoes including nuisance-biting impacts and the most important local mosquito-borne pathogens including Ross River virus, Barmah Forest virus, Murray Valley encephalitis virus and Kunjin virus as well as special mention to emerging exotic mosquito-borne pathogens including dengue and chikungunya viruses. 10:15 11:00 The biology and ecology of pest mosquitoes An overview of the biology and ecology of the most important pest mosquitoes including life cycle, environmental drivers of mosquito abundance, habitats where mosquitoes are found and the mechanisms involved in finding a host and transmission of pathogens. 11:00 11:45 Mosquito-borne disease management An overview of the key principles of mosquito-borne disease management, from designing a mosquito and mosquito-borne pathogen surveillance program (with a specific focus on NSW Mosquito Monitoring and Arbovirus Surveillance Program) to mosquito control strategies to community education (including complaint investigation and response) and promotion of personal protection measures (e.g. insect repellents). 11:45-12:00 Questions & group discussion 12:00 12:30 Lunch Break 12:30 14:00 Mosquito identification and mosquito-borne disease surveillance A short practical session on operating mosquito traps and mosquito identification giving attendees an opportunity to see a range of important local mosquitoes under the microscope.
