22.01.2022 Very interesting

22.01.2022 Our volunteer guides are wonderful, though due to COVID they are currently taking a break from their duties. Take a look around our Museum back in 1980 where honorary curator, Bert Egan, takes you on a guided tour. Visitors continue to ask after him! Thanks to Billy Dyall for sharing his father's footage of Eden. It's a wonderful record of some of the buildings in town prior to restoration or demolition. https://youtu.be/NRWUhYtAy0M

21.01.2022 We had the honour of being invited to the formal ceremonial homeport announcement of NUSHIP Supply-A195. It was a lovely ceremony and an exciting new partnership for our town, which will continue the long history we have with navies from around the world. The artwork by Joe Stewart and Alison Simpson is stunning and of course, our orca heritage looks fantastic front and centre. Congratulations to everyone for today's event we look forward to having you in Eden next year. Thank you also for your support of our fire affected communities, pitching in and giving a hand where needed the most. #NUSHIPSUPPLY HMAS Supply II

19.01.2022 'Impressions of Spring' is a new display now on show until 25 October. Spring has always been seen as the promise of new life and regeneration after the dormancy of Winter. This year it seems more timely than ever to celebrate the start of Spring because of the devastating Black Summer bushfires and the economic environment associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. This selection of works by award-winning artists from the Downton Collection invites you to reflect on the change S...pring brings, and the hope it offers, as 2020 draws to an end. title image: Serenity. 16.01.2022 90 years ago today the well recognised killer whale known by local whalers as 'Old Tom' was found deceased in Twofold Bay. With great foresight, his skeleton was retained by the community of Eden as an icon to continue to tell the stories of the remarkable killer whale-human working relationship for generations to come. Though COVID has stopped international travellers for now, people are still discovering the unique heritage of the area and are still making the trip to Eden Killer Whale Museum to marvel at the history, and Old Tom.

01.01.2022 We had the pleasure of hosting RAN personnel from NUSHIP Supply today. Some were watching on from HMAS Adelaide when she was here to lend a hand when our southern lands were on fire during the Black Summer fires in January. Today our collection manager, Jody White, received a donation of memorabilia to complement the collection associated with Eden's long naval associations. Watch this space for more exciting news for Eden over the coming weeks. HMAS Supply II

01.01.2022 Before a visit to the Museum, why not sit back and explore the natural and historical wonders of our region captured in the Museum's specially commissioned film, 'This Eden'. Due to COVID restrictions our theatrette is out of commission temporarily, but now you can now watch the short version we usually screen at your own leisure from our website or via this link https://youtu.be/6q5RNuOla5E a full version is available for purchase from our gift shop.

01.01.2022 25 years ago today Nullica Lodge (now Roy Wotton Gardens) was officially opened in Eden providing a much needed service for elderly residents no longer able to live at home. It is also a reminder of the way in which the local community works together to establish valuable projects for the benefit of all. Magnet Newspaper Collection. Eden Killer Whale Museum.
