24.01.2022 As a consumer I find it hard to find and prioritise environmentally sustainable purchases. I certainly consume less now days and prioritise Australian made, however it all seems like it's for nothing if my output is massive. My business has changed so much since the start of the year, and sending the occasional plastic satchel of macrame supplies wasn't weighing too heavily on my concious. Fast forward to now when I'm sending 100 bags out a week and I'm not ok with that amount of plastic being put there in the world because of ME. I'm so happy to have found these self compostable satchels that are actually reusable too (they come with two sticky strips) and its hopefully all I'll use from now on once my current dwindling supply of plastic satchels is used up. It costs my pocket a bit more but the earth less.

14.01.2022 I'm turning my lemons into lemonade. After some tears, some chats with another macrame maker and a sleepless night, I've made the decision to turn my Esther wall hanging into a pattern. This might sound like a strange decision to you, but for me it's taking a position where I had no control and turning it into something positive for myself. People obviously love the pattern, so I'm going to share it on my own terms. I want people to feel as happy as this wall hanging makes me when they make it. Keep an eye out next week for the drop on my website and Etsy store. A special thanks to Janis @unfetteredco for the chats last night and also to Krystle @homevibes_macrame for teaching me everything I know about patterns.

08.01.2022 I have ZERO confidence in choose colour combinations. Some people are just amazing at it but I just feel like I never quite nail it. This combo was one of my lucky flukes - natural, biscotti and rust. I find that if I follow an idea or a vibe while I'm making something, it comes together a bit better and more authentically How about you? Are you someone who puts things together with ease or do you take a while to get there?

07.01.2022 I'm taking a minute out of my day to ask R U OK? I will take more than a minute out of my day if you're not. This year more than ever, it's important to tell people that they are not alone and its ok, to not feel ok. Share the load, share the burden, share the love. #ruokday

06.01.2022 SHOP CLOSED FOR THE WEEK My husband had this last week off work so we could spend some time together as a family. He worked the whole way through Perth's lockdown and then I've been so busy with work, it feels like we never see one another. I planned to close my shop last week too however Victoria's second lockdown happened... so that never happened for me and I spent the whole week working. I'm so lucky to have work right now, somedays I still pinch myself everytime I make... a sale. A big part of me is also proud to be assisting people to stay home, keep busy and #createtocalm but guys, I'm burnt out I want to keep sending you the supplies you so desperately want right now, but I realised I've rolled over 700 balls of cotton since March, have three wall hanging on back order and a half finished pattern I want you to have access to. I need a week to catch up without new orders coming in. I'm very sorry if you wanted to buy something this week and I appreciate your patience in waiting until Monday the 24th when I reopen. Lots of love and keep safe and well. Caroline xx See more

05.01.2022 Macrame orders and coffee in my new dimple mug from @yenceramics This biz has influenced me as a consumer for sure. Less is more. And less makes it all the more special. #buysmall #supportsmallbusiness

03.01.2022 I made this. Three years ago. I walked behind my house with my baby son and picked up two of these cool wooden pickets. One night while my son slept I knotted and un-knotted for hours until I came up with this design - one of my first. I wanted it to have a geometic centre to offset the scalloped edges. It was my first time ever working with 3 ply rope. It has a story. It is part of my story. It has a small piece of my soul in every knot. Seeing it go down the road of being replicated by everyone and anyone trying to make a buck, is leaving me feeling totally defeated and to be honest, kind of violated. Every original macrame piece has a story and when you replicate it for your personal gain, just know that you are ruining its soul, its authenticity and breaking someone's heart. #dontcopyme
