22.01.2022 Although vitally important to the operations of your business, many business owners won’t have the time to personally compare and select the best energy deals for their company or handle the administration involved with managing their existing account. That’s why so many businesses hand over this responsibility to Edge Utilities. We can do this for you. We are professional energy consultants or as most people know us, an independent broker. To use our services, your business ...will need to provide us with a valid signed and dated letter of authority. Without a this, we cannot legally complete the following jobs on your behalf: *correspond and liaise with your current energy supplier to deal with any service and/or billing queries on your behalf. * organise energy-related maintenance or upgrade appointments with your supplier, such as smart meter installations. * submit meter readings or collect energy consumption data collected by your supplier for energy management purposes. * start the process of renewing or switching energy supplier contracts or negotiate with other suppliers to find your business an improved deal (subject to your final approval). 19.01.2022 A letter from founder & director of Edge2020, formerly Edge Energy Services, and Edge Utilities, Stacey Vacher. With 20 years of experience in engineering and applied finance in Europe and Australia, I am beyond passionate about financial markets. In 2007, after a period managing sophisticated procurement for a large retailer and some of the country’s largest energy users, I launched an independent energy management company Edge Energy Services. Soon to be rebranded as Edge...2020, a portfolio management, trading and brokerage business for large energy users, retailers and renewable generators. The Edge team are highly experienced energy professionals, with diverse backgrounds in back, middle, and front office roles. With over $1 billion under management, the team operate in a high risk, high pressure environment. Each decision can mean the difference in saving or losing millions of dollars. I invest heavily in my people, my systems, my processes, and specialist independent third-party quantitative experts, to give my business every opportunity to get decisions right. The Edge team becomes your industry-based team of experts, on hand to inform, educate, assist, and act when required. Edge is a small business managing big business. Operating under an Australian Financial Service Licence (AFSL) covering electricity, environmental and carbon products for wholesale clients. Edge maintains an ISO9001 Quality Management System, with a focus on managing risk and delivering to the highest possible standard. Edge have built strong working relationships with most major generation and retail counterparties in the National Electricity Market, and wholesale trading entities in Australia, including many renewable generators. This year my team and I have been focused on the launch of Edge Utilities. It’s not only enterprise clients who require the know-how to lower their energy costs. It’s equally as crucial for businesses, Strata and Body Corporates, looking to reduce electricity, gas and / or hot water costs. Edge Utilities was created to bring more value to energy brokerage in this market segment. Edge Utilities brings the sophistication of wholesale trading and risk management to retail brokerage deals. Leveraging the expertise, know-how and buying power of Australia’s largest independently managed energy portfolio, Edge Utilities helps businesses, Strata and Body Corporates pay less. The Edge team are also at your disposal, for when you need assistance in understanding anything relating to your invoices, costs, or energy markets. They are there to help. 19.01.2022 Edge has strategic partnerships in place to provide customised solutions to allow end users to receive the benefits of renewable generation and the use of battery storage. We are using cutting edge technology to maximise the efficient use of the renewable energy and reduce the cost to end users. We are installing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations into some of our Strata/Body Corporate schemes, to maximise the use of renewable energy produced during the day from onsite g...eneration. 18.01.2022 In the 1989 film Back to the Future Part 2, we were promised by 2015 we would have hover boards and flying cars. Now I know we shouldn’t believe everything we see on TV, but I think a few people feel robbed of the future they were promised! The Tesla self-driving car and a Segway is about as close as we have got by 2020. So, when CSIRO, Australia’s main scientific research body, state the whole of Australia’s car fleet will be electric by 2050 I will take it with a pinch of s...alt, but I may dive deeper to see if there is merit in the claim. 16.01.2022 BIG GREEN ENERGY... the new name for BIG OIL? AUTHOR: KATE TURNER - SENIOR MANAGER, MARKETS AND ADVISORY In a research note from an analyst at Goldman Sachs it is claimed that spending on renewable energy will overtake that in the Oil and Gas sector for the first time in 2021. This would equate to a 25% spend of all-energy in 2021 increasing from 15% in 2014. Further to this they are also estimating that US$30 Trillion would need to be invested in de-carbonising the sector ...Continue reading

14.01.2022 The retail energy space has been impacted heavily in the last 12 months beginning with the effect of COVID-19, which saw underlying costs of electricity production decrease significantly. It is predicted that these low costs will remain for the next 6 to 12 months as the Australian economy begins to rebuild itself. Following the impact of COVID-19, came price changes with the introduction of the Default Market Offer (DMO) and Victorian Default Offer (VDO). 14.01.2022 No discussion on the future of renewable energy mixes can be complete without discussing battery storage. Over 20,000 small scale batteries were installed in 2019. This means that the capacity of household batteries has now exceeded 1GWh within Australia. This distributed energy sourcing will be developed further over the next few years. These batteries combined with mobile batteries in electric vehicles, can be used as Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), creating community energy. ...Regional governments are supporting this through time of use feed in tariffs schemes, such as the distributed energy buyback scheme in WA. Currently there are over 15 projects under construction, and the majority are being developed alongside major wind and solar farms. This will ensure the benefits and costs of development of these opportunities can be recouped as soon as possible. In addition, those retailers with ageing plants such as AGL’s Liddell, which is due to close in 2023, have development plans for large scale renewable and batteries on the sites to support the transition to green technology. This investment business case is being supported by the Australian Energy Market Operator’s (AEMO’s) Integrated System Plan (ISP). It is anticipated that 30GW of industrial scale generation will be needed over the next 20 years, as ageing thermal fleets are retired. This will need the support of 21GW of dispatchable energy to support the intermittency of these new technologies. The Australian Research Community is also investing in the development of these technologies. Research grants are being awarded to find ways that these technologies can operate in Australia’s hot climate. As our climate is not ideal for these types of technologies, it is important to research ways that the full life cycle can be achieved. Some Western Australian companies are successfully recycling up to 95-98% of old lithium batteries. 11.01.2022 The Australian Electricity Market Operator (AEMO) recently published the 2020 Integrated System Plan (ISP) which is intended to maximise the value to end users by developing the market through an optimal development pathway. The ISP was endorsed by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Energy Council in 2018, and has since guided governments, the industry and consumers on investments needed for an affordable, secure, and reliable energy future. The ISP is a 20-year roa...dmap for the National Electricity Market (NEM) and is updated by AEMO every two years with their response to the latest technology, economic, policy and system developments. 10.01.2022 In July 2019, Edge was engaged by a global company spending over $30 million per annum on electricity in the National Electricity Market (NEM) to conduct strategy review, development and implementation. Edge worked closely with procurement managers to develop a strategy that best fit the company’s drivers and objectives, whilst acknowledging market characteristics, risks and fundamentals. Edge conducted a number of educational sessions, including workshops with senior (C-suit...e) management, focusing on the NEM, procurement strategies, and timing to market. Three major retail counterparties were short listed in extensive negotiations over a number of months. Final pricing was delayed on a number of occasions as the market continued to soften. In June 2020 Edge finalised strategy implementation, securing a 28.5% saving on the client’s energy costs, and pricing 18.1% under the two year market average for the forward period contracted. Managing Director, Stacey Vacher, led strategy review and development. Implementation was spearheaded by Senior Manager, Markets and Advisory, Kate Turner. Both were supported by Edge’s markets, trading and advisory team. #strategy #development #implementation #educate #procurement #energy #energycosts #markets #trading #negotiation #contract

08.01.2022 The New Best Seller: The Hydrogen Games There is no doubt that Hydrogen is the new kid on the block. Even amongst all the COVID-19 news the Government managed to launch their $300M Advancing Hydrogen Fund. This was controversial as they have allowed not just Hydrogen production from green sources but also brown-hydrogen, hydrogen produced from traditional fuel sources such as coal and gas, as long as, the as yet unproven, Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) technology is being used........ 02.01.2022 Ergon Network Charges The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) released their final determination on the 25th of June for Ergon Energy’s notified pricing for regional customers in FY21. These prices will apply from 01 July 2020. In general, consumers should note the following information published by the QCA:... Small customer bills are expected to decrease up to approximately 15%, primarily due to a reduction in wholesale energy costs. Large customer bills are expected to decrease over 10%, primarily due to a reduction in wholesale energy costs and a projected reduction in network costs. A number of obsolete tariffs will remain unchanged, with most due to expire 01 July 2021. Two tariffs are scheduled to continue until 01 July 2022. Any customers on an obsolete tariff should be looking to identify which tariff to move to, and can contact Edge to optimise this decision. For any business on Ergon notified pricing, Edge can review your FY21 costs to identify your expected savings, to ensure you are on the lowest cost tariff, and to ensure the contestable market wouldn’t present even further energy cost savings for your business. Please note that the indicative tariff savings within are general only, and customers should rely on site specific analysis to determine their individual circumstances. We look forward to hearing from you. #electricity #electrical #electric #power #energy #energycosts #renewableenergy #electronics #solarenergy #solar #technology #solarpower #solarpanels #construction #cleanenergy#generator
